Hi,
Getting an EU version of the Note, so I need to buy a Uk charger, is the charger for the Note and Galaxy S2 compatible? Thinking buying a 3rd party Galaxy S2 charger on ebay.

I suspect any 5v microusb charger delivering over 0.5A will be fine.
Expansys sent me a standard HTC one (5v 1A) with my german note and I am in the UK.

I can't answer the question directly, but that big screen, fast processor and larger battery are going to take a bit more juice than your average phone, including the S2. When it comes to mains chargers that may not be a big deal, unless you leave the phone active while charging, but might become an important consideration if trying to use the phone for satnav in the car, for example.
At the moment I'm using an Orange San Francisco. That has a 3.5" OLED screen and a 600MHz single core processor, so hardly an energy guzzler. The supplied charger is rated at .7A. In the car, when using satnav, my generic USB car charger cannot quite keep pace with the energy demands of that little phone and the battery level actually drops slowly while connected to power in the car. I'm definitely going to be looking for something more robust for the Note.
Note charger is 1 amp, Nexus S .7 amp, Note charges fine off the .7 amp charger.
I assume a standard Samsung GS charger would do, the output on it is 0.7A?

Surprise, my car charger was not good enough for the S2 while using nav software, but the Note charges nicely.

You not only need a charger that can deliver more oomph, but also a lead or charger, possibly modified, that will allow the phone to draw that current. I have 1A USB chargers for the car but a regular data/charging lead only permits the phone to charge at the standard USB maximum current of 0.5A. I had to open up one of my chargers and solder the two centre pins together. Shorting those two pins signals to the phone that it can draw the full "mains" current rather than the 0.5A USB maximum.
I haven't yet charged the Note in the car, but on my previous phone the charging status would show "Charging (USB)" prior to the mod and once modded it would show "charging (AC)", which is what you need to keep the phone charged and charging while in use rather than slowly depleting.

I can confirm that SGS2 charger works on note. However charging is slow ( its 0.7 A )
However the note charger ( 1.0 A) charges faster
dont have a 2 A charger to test but I would say that it would be the same speed as 1 A charger.
If we want faster charging, we will need the kernel to modified.
The downside would be shorter battery life.

Thing is would the USB cable that comes with the note (designed for computers) be suitable in carrying 1000mAh?
I heard that USB cables that come with phones are 0.5mAh so it won't make use of the 1000mAh...
Can anyone confirm this? If so then it's better to buy an out and out 1000mAh plus wall charger or a worldwide travel adapter.

That's also what I want to know.
There is no reason why it wouldn't work. It's just like going on holiday... US plugs to Euro/UK etc
So that's the route I will end up taking. But I may purchase an out and out 1000mAh wall plug anyway... even a 2000mAh...

( Just think , would samsung bundle a cable that does not support the charger )

yes it will work fine, because the charger accepts 100-220vac 50/60Hz
The Samsung power adaptor that comes with the Note is a Universal one (110 Volts - 240 Volts) and is rated at 5 Volts 1 Amp output.
If you need an alternative for some reason (or a spare).........
Personally, I am using a generic iPad mains adaptor with dual USB sockets. The device was made in China and has a total current output of up to 2 Amps. It is a also a worldwide model. I think it charges faster than the Samsung charger.
It also charges the Note when using the MHL>HDMI output. I have read some postings that the Note very slowly loses charge when the MHL>HDMI adaptor (which has to be externally powered) is in use. With this 2A adaptor, it continues to charge.
You could also try the Genuine iPad adaptor that also works worldwide and delivers a genuine 1 Amp rather than some of the cheapie models that struggle to supply that current.
My phone charger broke and now it connects to the phone with a lot of difficulty, so I can hardly charge the phone. Do you happen to have any link to original charger where I can buy?

also can charge from other android phones charger. most of the androids has micro usb charging.

When you use a charger for another device you must be sure that the Output Amperes are equal or less than the ones of the original charger
of your device because you will propably damage your device!!

no they are not all same
samsung provides 850mA current while our charger has 1A.
as our battery is 1200mAh we can give max 1.2A current to it (considering 1C discharge)
so i recommend to use any USB charger with 5V and 1A rating. apple chargers also use the same.
also buy a good company charger. dont use any china charger as they lack in overvoltage protection and all (i am not offending any chinese people in xda ).
and our PC USB port provides 5V 500mA, so we can use it also but it will take time to charge phone.

every phone has built in charging IC and it provides high current with fast charging and when battery is about to charge full it reduces current and charges device normally so that there will not be any overcharging.
and our battery is LiPo not LiIon so we have advantages over more current draw and fast charging. also we can charge battery at ny time, it is not needed to charge it when battery is about to die to extend its life like in other batteries.
so you do not need to worry.
and my W8 original greenheart charger rating is 5V 1A

Quite wrong there.The only thing that will happen is that the phone will take longer to charge if the mAmperes are less than the original chargers.If they are more it wont have any problem or it may even charge faster depending on the internal charge controller.
Just so you keep it in mind, the mAmps a charger states, is the MAXIMUM it can provide, not the mAmps it FORCES into the device.Every device drains as much power as it is configured to drain when it was built.
Its the OUTPUT voltage you must be careful at, though every charger the last 8 years outputs 5-7 volts which is fine. :laugh:

Nonsense is not a very polite word, i d prefer inaccurate.
In this case both statements are wrong.There is no manufacturer constrain when using smartphones and chargers, as long as they both have the same plug (aka micro usb).
The chargers are not actually chargers, they are power supplies.As stated above each phone only takes the amount of power its charge controller IC dictates it to.So there is no better life with samsung charger nor SE for SE phones and not combining with other devices.
Use whatever charger you can find (as long as it is of some brand) and it will do the trick.If it says many mAs(like 1000 or more) good for, you, faster charge if the phone allows it, if it says less mAs you ll just have to wait more, but the battery wont get damaged, whatever charger you use!

Why dont you grab a 70Ah charger and try and tell us your results then? :good:
In the meantime read carefully what i posted. i stated :' if the phone allows it". Meaning you can put a 2Ah charger but unless the phones charge controller allows it you cant charge in that rate.Ofc you shouldnt charge Lithium batteries with more than 1C in the first place but thats another story.
Finally i ve converted old cellphone chargers i had in a shelf to have USB output and they all work great, though they charge slower since they are 500mAh rated.

I've had better success with aftermarket than OE about 75% of time. Hence why I said it's more opinion based. Just like my Anker 3100 is better than the Samsung battery 3100 that came with the note 2.
99% of reviews anywhere are based upon the customers experience/opinions. Apple chargers always sucked for me. HTC chargers had many issues in the past.

I am not talking about reviews. I am making my suggestion based on science and comparisons to other chargers and knockoffs from china. If you're buying a flagship phone, buy a flagship charger. And a good USB cable. Cables make a hell of a difference in electronics that can accept more than 500mah charging.

I never said a knockoff I said after market those two are completely different I am talking about anker verses a knockoff generic. I will use a different charger that is an aftermarket and I typically use the Samsung cable that came with the phone or my heavy duty black berry cable simple as that.

I am talking about all chargers in general. OEM chargers are better than the belkins, tankers and whatever. I read a couple very good articles about how good or bad chargers are. The ones that come with our electronics are usually the best. USB cables vary, sometimes even within the same models. The Samsung and apple chargers are really the best value when you consider longevity, heat, reliability and some other factors I am not qualified to explain.

for what it's worth the oem samsung galaxy note 2 charger is pretty fast for me a 2.1 amps. I even bought a second one to have for up stairs in my house.

I heard that. Gotta use a Samsung cable though to get the full benefit. Haven't found another cable that will let it charge full blast yet.

Yes perfectly safe.
Amps (current) are drawn/pulled, not pushed. More amps in a charger just means your phone can draw more without burning out the charger. It does not mean that the charger pumps out more than your phone can handle.
Volts are different. Too much or too liitle volts are harmful but all usb chargers are the same 5v so don't worry about that.
Lastly, unfortunately the different manufacturers have created different special schemes to trigger or allow devices to exceed 0.5 amps (to prevent a high draw device from trying to pull 2.0 amps out of a 0.5 amp usb port and burning out a usb port or possible even all usb ports on your expensive laptop!)
So, merely having a charger that says 2.1A on the side isn't enough by itself. You will still need to try differnt cables and try different models of chargers and even different kernels if you are rooted, or refer to reviews where the reviewer covered this explicitly instead of just saying "It worked great" which is a meaningless waste of everyone's time.
For instance there was another thread about chargers where they found that on a 2 port model that has one port labelled Apple and another labelled Android or just unlabelled, they found that they actually behaved different. The Apple port was 2.1A and the Android port was only 1.0 or 1.5A, yet a GN2 charged faster on the Android port. Because the GN2 didn't recognize the Apple port as being capable of high current, at least not with a standard cable, and so the GN2 was only pulling 500 or 700 ma, while on the Android port it pulled 1.0 or 1.5A.
So you really need reviews and testing that takes all this into account and specifies actual charging times and that make and model of the usb cable used etc. Or just buy the official stuff from Samsung which is all garanteed to match and work as expected without having to know all that unsuspected stuff.

I have quite a bit of cells and tablets, who doesn't, but I also have quite a few rc cars and helis. All the battery's we are using are Li-on although I use a ton of lipo (lithium polymer) on my rcs. Ive built packs, soldered connections, I charge 6 batteries in parallel, etc. I have a 530 watt adjustable 18 Volt 30 Amp PSU connected to a 400 watt 18 volt 20 amp balance charger. Granted if your not in the rc world this would be overkill for sure just to charge your cell battery. Point is you can charge any, repeat any Li-on or lipo battery at 1 C. . 1C is the capacity of the battery. All of my lipo rc battery's can be charged at 5C. That means 5 times the capacity of the battery. In our case the note 2 battery is 3100 mah or 3.1A for short hand notation. So if you have a big enough charger like I do, you can safely charge it at 3.1A in an hour. Some of my bigger packs are 6S 30C 10A packs. That is 22.2 volts 30C discharge rate and 10Amp or 10000 mah capacity and 5C charge rate. If your not familiar with the above jargon no matter, the OEM Samsung charger with the OEM usb cable that comes with it puts out 2.1 or 2100mah per hour or 2.1A . Our stock OEM batteries are 3100 mah or 3.1 A. So they will fully charge in about 1 1/2. Ive timed it several times and that is pretty accurate. This is with the phone being off not on while charging. It will take a little longer with the phone on while charging, about 2 hours. Hope this helps.

This might be the stupidest question i have ever asked in XDA forum but..... I really want to know the answer to make sure it won't do anything bad to my Z1.
I used galaxy note 2 charging adapter which is a bit stronger than the original z1 charger (1500mA Vs 2000mA) and found out that charging time difference is quite noticeable. i guess 500mA difference is huge.
Since I read few news that people were experiencing fire or explosion while they were charging (or something, which i don't know if it's 100percent true) i want to know if putting too much power is bad for the Z1.
the charge for z1 is 2A. You can plugin 3A, but it wont take that extra, can only accept max 2A.
Generally speaking having extra 1A wwill heat up device but wont cause fire, unless you put in 1000A then it will explode

Use whichever charger you have. Using a 2A charger will of course decrease charge time. Using a 3A charger will do nothing for you, because phone only accepts 2A if I remember correctly.

Using a 1000A or 3A charger will not make a difference. Phone will not heat up more than using a 2A charger. The phone will draw those 2A and nothing more. Unless there's a custom kernel parameter we can change to increase charging current.

That is correct. Stock supplied charger is 1.5A, at least in the scandinavian countries.
I charge my Z1 with N7 charger (2.0) and everything is O.K.
Just like guys said - Z1 can use up to 2.0 and it's perfectly safe to use it but make sure charger is good, if you use junk for 1$ you could damage your device.
If we gave 1000$ for device we can pay 10$ more for good charger.

I only ever use the 1.5A factory charger if I'm leaving it overnight. Its too slow otherwise so I also use a 2A charger from my Asus transformer

U might have a real special packaging as it usually comes with only 1.5mA
Also snapdragon 800 supports quickcharge 3.0 which allows chargers up to 4.0mA

I bought a Samsung charger for my upcoming Nexus 6, i don't want to use the quick charger that comes with the phone. I am starting to suspect that this one is also a quick charger, can anyone look at the attached pictures and tell me? Also if it isn't a quick charger i would like to use it for the long run so my second question is would my battery be affected because of what says on the back of the box that i highlighted? In the highlight are also the specs of the charger, can someone clear this up for me?

2 amp will deliver 2 amp, which is what the turbo charger will deliver, so yes it will turbo charge. Why don't you want to turbo charge?

I want to use the phone for a couple of years and don't want to shorten the battery life and also have the risk of inflating battery and everything that comes with it. What kind of charger should i buy to charge it in some "normal" time? The salesman in Samsung store told me this one charges Note 4, Galaxy S5 - which is why i bought it - the S5 doesn't have the quickcharge tech so i instantly thought it was an ordinary charger. On the other hand, my Galaxy Nexus official charger is rated for 1.0 A which surely isn't strong enough to charge the 6 properly so i am confused with what kind of a charger and with what ratings should i get? Thank you in advance.

2amps isn't going to shorten the life below 2 years. Higher amps only shorten life if they are above battery tolerances, which 2 amps is not.
Anyway, you'll want a 1 or 1.2 amp charger for slow charging

Can i use this charger safely with the Nexus 6? After some researching this one is actually quickcharge 1.0 by the specs so i it should not be so "harsh" with the temperature on the phone.

Yes.
If I were you, I would use the charger that comes with the Nexus 6. Which is tested by Motorola to work properly. I've had my Nexus 6 since December 2014 and no problems. I charge through my laptop will at work though.

He wants slow charging. So charging through laptop / pc will be fine.
Charge cspacity of usb ports is 500 mA (900 mA for USB 3.0), that's good for slow charging.
Also 1-dollar charger from eBay will be fine.

He wants it but hasn't got a valid reason to want it. The motorola charger is the best charger to use and it won't shorten his battery life.

Nope. So the only thing that will change is his phone will take longer to charge.
That said for me, turbo charge stopped working and I'm very annoyed.
Google have first sent me a new charger which still hasn't arrived. Though I think the issue is the phone. But I wanted to avoid a refurb as long as possible. Can't live without turbo charge now.
I have this charger, http://www.walmart.com/ip/Belkin-F8J031TT04-BLK-Micro-Wall-car-Chrg-Kit-2.1a-10w-W-4ft/40457559, but i got just the charger for $20. It most definitely doesnt turbo charge, it takes atleast 2 hours, so id say its a "normal" charge for this phone and i think its better than the turbo charger, because it doesnt get hot and its still decently fast

The turbo output is only supplied on turbo enabled devices. So there is something wrong with switching to turbo modes 9 V and/or 12 V
I am curious what is the cause of this issue.
Did you try an 'charge app' like Ultra Fast Charger.?

I think its a usb port issue myself.
I don't know what a charge app is. I am monitoring my input though. I know the issue is not software as it just stopped working one day last weekend with no software changes.
Actually,.could even be the battery as.my wireless charger is very slow now too.

There are some apps in the play store claiming to boost the battery charge.
When wireless charging is also slow, than it could be indeed the battery.
Maybe a complete discharging ?
BTW
Turbo mode is only active when the battery is less than 75% charged.

I don't believe they can but I'm not.going.to try anyway.
You should use a 5 Volt 2 Amp charger, those chargers are the one's that most phones use. Most new phones are using Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0, which you should use but if you are not comftorable then the 5 Volt 2 Amp will work good.
Errr, QuickCharge will in fact degrade a battery faster, it's still used because most phones only have a 2 year lifespan.
A non QuickCharger will also make it run less hot while charging and also be less likely to cause cell expansion. Not sure why there's so many people denying this.

Actually you've misread (or not read fully). No one disputes the science. That article isn't accurate. All it says is "too quickly" and if you read what I have said, is that the turbo charger is within acceptable tolerances. I.E. It is not "too quickly"

I think you're not understanding the basic chemistry. More heat = more degradation of the Li-ion battery, regardless of tolerances. A lower power charge will always degrade the battery slower. This isn't about tolerances.
