Bugs on MIUI Android 1.7.29

Post here your bugs and maybe solutions.
Bugs i found:
- themes do not work. A FC when clicking on a theme.
- brightness control doesnt work.

themes do work, you might want to do a data delete and reinstall the ROM

some descriptions still in chinese.(belongs to the german/english rom von Moviestar)
wifi got sometimes error.need restart
the most thinks are cm based so it got the same bugs like the nightlys.

large data drain on the Android.system process. 100 MB of traffic within 2 days is just unacceptable, probably in conjunction with this about a 4 times as high standy drain than in cm7.1.
When fast scrolling large lists (contacts, music) the letter indicator in the center of the screen gets stuck.
When using an app overriding the screen brightness setting (e.g. GPS Status) the brightness level does not switch back to automatic after exiting the app.
Some widgets are not sized correctly when they are put up on the homescreen.
GPS is somewhat slow, even though the userspace is updated like in cm7.1
Themes app is either force closing when selecting online apps or the preview screen goes blank after a split second showing available themes. This can be circumvented by installing themes manually by downloading them from the miui website.
Thats what I found out so far.

Me too saw FCs while changing themes. Just updating this thread for over-emphasis .

Battery life is dreadful, for me at least.
Apart from that, i've not noticed many bugs

Yes, battery sucker no doubt.
Forced close when i tried to access DND security settings.
Few of the HD games aren't running too..
Asphalt 6 HD, N.O.V.A, Bang Bang Racing, all these HD games.

nova 2 is working here

Funny enough, I managed to get 9 hours of usage out of 20% battery.
What I did was deny the android system process internet access using the firewall, disabled data when not needed and froze the MIUI messenger as well as antispam and sidekick application.

Will it not harm the system by denying the android system process access to the internet?

I havent noticed any drawbacks so far. But I'm sure you're right. I'm waiting for arcee to merge the latest kernel update before switching back to miui.
The denial was necessary, because the process was eating away on my data package.

If you choose another ringtone for SMS or the Alarm Clock it will be replaced by NONE Ringetone.
REALLY NICE

Guess what? 3 hours and 30 minutes of usage, with wifi turned on,
Full charged of 100% dropped untill 30%! Omg....
Viber called for 30 minutes more, dropped till less than 15%!
MIUI 1.7.29 is a battery vampire.... ==

Am i the only one who cant mount? the phone freezes, after a while it just turns off and the screen turns on again but nothing come on it. i have to remove battery and insert again.

V10k3 questions

How do I use the 3d converter for other games can it be used for emulators? I heard you could play Mario mart 3d and n64 games in 3d and I'm very curious as to how. And how do I know if i am getting the H+ speeds? Sorry in advance I guess I'm stupid. I did the pre rom install then the V10k3 install that's what I'm running now.

Oh and also when I long press on the games I don't get the pop up menu with the 3d options. A message just says it force closes.

Yes you can use 3d convert with emulation. N64 works beter than fpse. To use 3d convert. Open the 3d converter than click menu (the key pad of the phone) then choose the emulators. That it. Just start the game.

I also have a question, with this and every other rom I flash, I don't get data out of the box, so I change my APN settings and I can get data but no INTERNET. Internet specifically. I can download anything, apps, etc. but when it comes to a browser (and I've tried plenty) it won't connect unless I'm on Wifi. Can anybody help me? Is there an extra APN setting I'm missing?

Even tried a version with the wap [at] cingulargprs [dot] com as the username and the password CINGULAR1. the crazy thing is this worked on the stock rom which I hate because my 3D videos won't play and it has random reboots). With these settings I can seriously use any app that uses data, and even download other apps, but no browser. Crazy. Thanks for the help though, do you know of any other APN settings people use? Having a hard time finding settings for this phone.
UPDATE: Got it! I made another APN and kept the Proxy and Port blank. Worked. Thanks again for everything!

try download different browser from market ans see its working.

It seems very unlikely that it can be done.

Asphalt 7 is out. not the beta version

Anyone who has Asphalt 6 (whether it is working on your GTAB or you have it on another device), Asphalt 7: Heat is out for .99 cents on the market. Based on the screen shots, it looks awesome. So check it out.

Not compatible with the p5110 which is a shame as it looks rather nifty

If your device is rooted follow these steps:
I got it working by buying Device Spoofer in the playstore (only 1.50 us dollars), run the app, I spoofed as the Galaxy nexus,reboot your device, go to the Playstore and search for asphalt 7. You will know if Device Spoofer works by seeing Asphalt 7 in the Playstore. Once you buy it, then search for GL to SD CARD. download it as well. Run that app, move Asphalt 7 to the ext card by using the app. Go back to the Device Spoofer app, touch restore device, reboot, and run the game and BAM!!! you are good to go.

OK - Device Spoofer seems to have screwed up the Tab. Will not reboot after hitting the restore device button, goes past the Tab 2 screen then blank. Tried factory reset through CWM but nothing. Help!

I used device spoofed today for Asphalt 7 and only problems was the wifi kept going on and off. I let it run until the download finished and restored without problems. I used HTC flyer profile for what it's worth.

With me, device spoofer has one flaw, if you spoof too many times, it will not reboot. I do not know what rom you have, but I have CM 9. I have to wipe, factory rest my Tab. but it is extremely rare.

I think that you wifi issue with the signal because I have that issue. At first I use the Galaxy nexus as a profile at first, but I notice the icons on the game seem too big, like stretch out or something, so I re-installed the game under a previous tab 7 model (I think the tab 7.0 plus or tab 7 model) and now the game seems to show up much better and fit the screen more. I have both Asphalt 7 on my tab and HTC amaze but graphics are good on both. However, my Amaze, reflections show up more.

Using Phone as Music player

Hi.
Ive been using my S3 for a few years now and found my old S1 the other day still working.
As there is still alot of support for this phone i upgraded the ROM to KK and all looks good, but i dont really need the phone for general phone stuff so was looking to use it mainly as a Music player.
Im running OMNI on it with Apollo, DSP Manager (but still stock OMNI Kernal, which i might update if a better one is available for Sound?)
What i would like to know is what can i delete off the phone but still have it function without any FC? i.e it will never be used for text or phone calls or navigation, only music and maybe games (but still would like Play store access for app download, via WiFi.
Has anyone ever done this before?

From what I know deleting any of the telephony features causes a whole lot of problems for a rom. You could try disable every app you don't need and see how it goes?
Alternatively you could always leave it on aeroplane mode (you can still access wifi)

Yeah i think the best option is Airplane Mode to be honest. I did delete some of the Messaging files and so far no FC, but think i will leave the rest for now.

Titanium backup does work, you just need the test one available here on xda or via their twitter. I haven't come across any apps that don't work... bar Xposed stuff which is expected since it supports Dalvik only

I noticed you had changed kernels. I did that and got all of the problems you listed. Trust me, its not L its whatever kernel you're using or even user error. Even greenify works now, but most root apps require a permissive kernel...sounds like you don't have one possibly, if you are rooted there's an SELinux policy changer app that will at the click of a button, modify the kernel between enforced and permissive. I use code blue, FK didn't work for me. Also not sure this thread will be open much longer. All the best.

Yea I don't have those problems either. I have had the keyboard predictions not come up some times though. I have also had the play music app bug which is really annoying me because I just bought some Bluetooth headphones and its ruining the hands free experience.

In recents/overview, after clearing all apps sometimes apps pop up if you tap the recents button again like Phone, Android System etc. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm having almost all those same problems as OP...I have it with FK. KitKat was way better and buttery smooth, no issues really. The one thing I really like about 5.0 is the lockscreen notifications..long overdue feature. Missing feature though: control time of music from lock screen.

There is something wrong with your image installation and or kernel and or phone.
I don't have any of the problems you listed after 2 days heavy use. My only complain is the lack of silent mode.

No offence mate, but calling this thread "all you need to know" is wrong.
I disagree with everything you said, having used heavily since about an hour after the image was posted by Google.
To suggest that your opinion is all people need to know is just plain wrong.
90% of root apps? Nonsense. Every root app I need works.
Crashes in chrome? None here. Same with all the gapps.
Most apps don't work proper? Really?
Launcher lags? Nope. And that word is thrown about all the time with no explanation or quantification.
You should at the least change the title of the thread.

Apart from chrome freezing/pausing i have no issues and its soo fast! My missus has chrome issues too on htc one m8 so it's def app issue
