Hi all,
Managed to get my device rooted thanks to the excellent information on the forum.
But I'm trying to mount my device to my Windows 7 64bit latop from which I did my root from as a USB drive to show in My Computer. I want to transfer some files onto it. But for some reason it is not detecting it as this. I've installed, uninstalled the Kindle Fire HD driver "Kindle Fire ADB Drivers". But still nothing?!
Many thanks for any help

Hi,
I bought a Kindle Fire HD 7" last month. I am located in India and Amazon store can't be accessed from here, so I rooted the device this month. Now when I connect the device to my PC(Windows XP SP2), the PC doesn't show the drive in "My Computer" and the device shows a message that "some computers require a free file-transfer utility to copy files between the computer and your Kindle. If you need this utility, please go to kindle.com/downloads". I went there, it asked me to download the Windows Media Player 11. Despite downloading it, the PC doesn't detect the device. The device does connect to the PC because I hear the notification sound. I tried to re-install the drivers too, it didn't help.
Kindly Help!

Don't worry it's simple download and install this driver here ( mediafire.com/?jf6t00es4hy1xo3 )
Factory reset for your kindle then re root it following this post : ( forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891939 )

I tried this still get the same message. I bricked it and can't get adb enabled on the device I cant access the settings.
just got the Kindle Fire HD 7" the other day and have it rooted...ADB drivers seem to be working fine...but the Kindle doesn't show up in Windows Explorer, so i can't transfer anything to it
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers countless times, but the Kindle still never shows up in Explorer
really would appreciate some advice
i turned off ADB on the Kindle, and plugged it into another Win7 PC that never had the Kindle connected to it before...Kindle driver got automatically installed, and the Kindle was showing up and was accessible from Win Explorer...what can be missing on the computer that doesn't identify the Kindle in Win Explorer ?!?!?
Part 1)
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7"....
I have installed the new Stock-Rom 7.4.3 from Amazon...
After that, i have used KFFirstAide to root and install Google-Service and ADW-Launcher....
Everthing was fine....
The only problem was, that there were no wallpapers in ADW-Launcher Mode...
Then i used the stuff from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295750
After running the script i got some error messages in the script....
After that, my Kindle was bricked:
Switch on => 2 Times Kindle fire Logo then red triangle with two options => reboot or reset to factory defaults
I have chosen both, but nothing works
Part 2)
I have ordered a fastboot cable.....
If i plugin the cable (Kindle is off) it starts and i can read FASTBOOT Kindle Fire in the Tab-Display
If i try to revocer via KFFirstAide (Option 4 => Completely Restore the KFHD 7 7.2.3) , it ends up with : < waiting for device >
In Windows 8 64 Bit Device manager i can see the following Device with yellow triangle: Tate-PVT-08
If i try to install the Kinde Driver again it tells me, that they are allready installed....
Part 3)
crying
Can you help me pls ?
Sorry to see that my script bricked a device, would love to know why it did, because the main reason it would usually cause bricks was recently nullified by adding safeties in to prevent that. I suggest not using a PC with windows 8 on it to fix your kindle if possible. You just need to reflash the system partition like your trying to do. Windows 8 usually gives people trouble with drivers when they are unsigned or modified, that's why I suggest you use a PC with windows 7 or xp on it, because your kindle is completely fixable. if you have no other PC's I can always help you get it working again to the best of my abilities.

Reinstall driver(sometimes it helps), close all adb and cmd windows in task manager, and in cmd type adb kill-server, then try KFFirstAide

If i use KFFirstAide do i have to use the normal usb cable or the factory cable ?
i have heard, the factory cable is only to put the Fire into Fastboot mode, after the Fastboot Logo i have to use the normal cable, is this right ?
Not really I used fastboot cable for all fastboot command and when it rebooted into fastboot again I just removed cable and rebooted manually, but for adb commands use regular cable
If a woodchuck chucked wood and Chuck found out, would Chuck get mad at the woodchucks for chucking Chuck's wood?

well here's the modified google driver i made that should install with it. Just hit update driver on the tate-pvt device and point it to search in the folder that u extract from that zip file, it should do the rest by itself, minus asking are u sure u want to install a unsigned driver or something, just hit install anyway.
Edit: Trying to keep different version of my drivers from floating around on the forum, so use the link in my signature for the most up to date drivers.
Thanks to all
Kindle up again....
I had to install the driver with device manager, then show the device list, chose usb-devices then out of the manufacturer list kindle => kindle adb driver....
Then the Kindle was named Kindle in device manager and KFFirstAide did the rest....
yeehaaa
Sorry for probably posting something that's very common. Everything I try doesn't seem to work and I don't know what to do. I have 2 7" Kindle Fire HD's that I have previously rooted(quite some time ago). My PC HDD crashed and burned recently and I was attempting to sideload some stuff on to them, and I can't seem to figure out how I was able to get the ADB Drivers to install correctly when I first rooted these. ANy help would be greatly appreciated...
Wrong Forum
I've requested that this thread be moved to 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
The Kindle Fire HD 7 First Aide Tool has drivers,
but you should also see Windows Device Drivers and the Device Manager
note: written for original kindle but steps are similar
install drivers with First Aide, reboot pc, connect Kindle, update drivers in Device manager.
if that doesn't work, when updating drivers select drivers folder from First aide files, may need to uninstall old drivers, and reboot pc to get it to work.
Ok, thanks. Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. I'll take a look at the links provided. :fingers-crossed:

you can use the ones in my signature, if on windows 8 you will need to disable driver signature enforcement first.
After sending 13 hours working, search and hitting a brick wall, I decide to post. I have full installed all drivers for the my fire (5.1.4) in an attempt to downgrade it. Been to rootjunky and gotten the supertool. Downloaded the full Android Studio. Dow loaded the kindle fire usb driver and the kindle fire HD ADB driver. Downloaded QemuRoot, root_fire. All to no help. Mutilpe computer restarts. Wipe the device and cache. Still nothing. I have used the USB cord it came with and a high quality OEM cord. Still nothing. Been to computer management in an attempt to manually install the driver there. Still nothing. I am at my wits end. As it stands, the kindle when under Amazon system recovery <3e> is not connecting to my computer when I try to apply update from ADB. The message presented by my computer is "KFFOWI-----------------------X no driver found" Any suggestion, ANY WILL BE HELPFUL!
Thank you in advance
edit1: who knew this would be harder to root than the HTC evo 3d paper clip trick

Bump
Solution
Here you have it:
Install manually in the windows drivers list, Fire Device -Android composite ADB interface, over KFFOWI. Then install Stock Rom via ADB. Enjoy!

I have the same problem, how do you install driver manually? On Windows I have only the update driver option and when I give him the location of adb USB driver. Windows tell me that there is no driver available for the device...
Any updates? I hit the exact same problem, tried everything online, still I cannot find a suitable driver for the "Kffowi" (with exclamation mark)..
Driver install
Go to device manager, right click on KFFOWI, click on update driver. Click Browse my computer. On the next screen, click the bottom option, "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
Scroll down and click on Fire Devices
Look for "Android Composite ADB Interface" and select it, then hit next.
Driver will install, confirm that you want windows to use the driver, and bam. Done.
Problem solved
Running LineageOS 12.1-20181218-UNOFFICIAL-ford. amonet-ford-v1.4.1 installed on PC and rebooted. There isn't even the sound that a new USB-device is connected nor anything happening in the Windows device manager when pluggin in KFFOWI. Enable Android debugging is grayed out. How should I proceed, if I wan to upgrade to [ford, austin] Lineage-14.1 [17 JAN 2021]?
LineageOS 12.1-20181218-UNOFFICIAL-ford is working fine, but has become very slow.
