At first i was using the headset with music . and when i was pressing the button next to mic it was doing nothing. So i tought it was just because it's not compatible with the media player. But when i receive calls and my headset is plugged activating that button does nothing even if im talking with someone it doesn't hang up.... Basically that button next to the mic does nothing. Do i have to activate something or do i have to hold it for 2 min each time... maybe its broken ? but i bought it like 1 week ago and i pay attention to it... anyway any feedback is appreciated... Thanks

Are you using i9000 based ROMs or stock or cog? On cog roms, headset button has never failed me. I believe i9000 based roms have an issue with the headset.
well i am using stock rom, but i just rooted the phone (wich now looks like a failed attempt)
hello.
I have very annoying problem since day one on my Galaxy S I9000 with FroYo. The volume on headset(original) is too low, barely audible, unless I press and hold the button that is on the headset. I have tried to hook up stereo speakers with 3.5mm jack and they have very low volume as well. I have tried headphones from motorola and blackberry - same thing - low volume unless holding the headset button.
I have Hannspree Hannspad SN10T1 as well and it has the same problem, it runs android 2.2. No matter what volume boosting apps I use the problem persists on both devices.
P.S. Same headsets (samsung original, blackberry, and motorola) I used to test both devices - work perfectly on my motorola defy phone. So I presume that the headsets are OK. It must be something wrong with Galaxy S and Hannspad.
Both devices are hard resetted and non-rooted.
Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks

Absolutely sure. Even tried to pull it a bit, but then just one of the headphones working. The plug goes all the way down as it should, still very low volume.
I can't be the only one with two completely different devices running android 2.2 that share absolutely the same problem.
Is there any software that can swap channels on the headsets? or swap channel for the microphone with one of the speakers, because it seems to be non-propperly configured channels to me.
Any other suggestions?
the pin-out configuration for these phones are different from most and the only headsets that i know that are compatible are nokia headsets. theres also adapters you can buy that will convert the wires the right way so the earphones/mic/button all work properly.
this one is confirmed to work: http://www.meelec.com/MEE_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm
Thank you very much for clearing that out evil-doer !
I will try one of those.
I thought - when I had this problem - that my headset was defect. So I bought a new one from eBay.
Everything is nice so far - The new one is working great.
I hadn't the chance to test if it's working on another device.
is there to solve this through the service mode?
Hello :O)
I bought Skullcandy riot + microphone as a gift to a friend with Samsung I9000, But the volume was low UNLESS you pressed the earphones button constantly.
I connected it to my mini galaxy and it worked ok. The only problem is that the button acts as a play/pause button and does not allows to answer calls :O(
I connected it to an Iphone 4 and it works well (Volume is ok and it allows to answer calls).
Did someone experienced with these earphones on the mini ?is there a way to change the button function to answer a call ?
Thank you
I've had the same.problem on other phones. The only remedy is a different set. Most sets work for iPhones because everyone makes stuff for the big apple.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Hmmmm doggone it.....I'll use it for playing music on my phone and will buy him a simple earphones without a mic as a replacement gift.....They've said that the way to hell is paved with good intentions......
These skullcandy riot has great bass for their type. Better than my senheisser cx 300 and my son's Razer earphones
The problem is with the i-9100, the audio input of that phone is probably malfunctioning.

Per OP request, this thread is closed.
Hello,
I recent l have gotten myself the XZ , truely a great phone. I use the phone as mp3, with an wired headset. Its is a trrs jack (wich bassicly means audio and a mic. Here's my problem. Th original buds work perfect. One tap on the button is for play/pause. But i don't like the buds that came with it. So I've tried others. There were 2 types. #1: buds with button for the mic(answering calls etc) and #2: a button for the mic and two volume buttons(-/+).
My experiences :
#1: the button for the mic does only one thing and that is putting the volume up. When I discovered I was jogging, dubble tapped the button as I though it would skip to the next song, like on an iPod ( yeah, I have an iPod ) and it scared the hell out of me.
#2: nearly the same as with #1. Differences :the button for the mic actually could pauze/play, but only for a limited time, after a minute or so it went back to increasing the volume. Crazy thing here is..the volume buttons actually work.
Oke, so I've tested it with an app that's called Jays headset control. It has a headset monitor (advance->extra->headset monitor) When the sony is plugged in, and i press the button, it says I pressed "button up, button down" and it results in a "single click" . With both #1 and #2 it only adjusts the volume.
Lucky i have multply devices to test it on. Same app, but on a galaxy s3, PERFECTLY. Both the sony and the other two worked perfectly. UND...to confuse you even more, if i plug them in my iPod, the all the the same thing. One press for play/pause, double press for next song, press three times for previous song. I already have tried to re map the buttons, with the app, but it didn't work.
The headsets I've used are:
Sony: MH750 (came with the XZ)
Sony: MH650c (old one from a Xperia S)
Samsung: EHS44ASSBE GH59-10443F (Is the one i want to use/ single button)
Samsung: EHS64AVFWE GH59-11720A (The one with mic and -/+ button)
I would very much like someone to explain this to me or better yet, provide me a solution.
Thanks in Advance
I had tried iPhone 5 headset and solo hd in both of them Mic button worked
t the volume buttons did not work
Dude might pay to shorten your question, because I am sure most people will give up reading it all.
My old HTC beats headset works exactly the same, forward & back songs keys is up or down volume, (pause, play and answer call - One Button) the same. And the microphone works great.
Then i suppose it only happens with the samsung budds..can anyone comfirm ?
Im using the MeElectronics A161p and the mic, music pause n song skip works.. I highly recommend this IEMs as it is touted to be the best of them out there for the price. Heck its been reviewed to be better than other 3 times the price

The Z, like most new phones, works with CTIA standard headsets. OMTP ones won't fully work.

Samsung's white "premium" headset ( the one that comes with Note and Note 2 ) is CTIA. Their Galaxy S headphones are probably not CTIA because they don't work completely with Note devices.
