Hi everyone, this thread is a petition to make developers know our interest in having a working CM10/10.1 and custom kernels to our wonderful Nexus 7 3G tilapia/nakasig
At this time, we have only a few ROM modifications based on AOSP or on official Google ROM, no fully optimized CM-based ROM.
I've read somewhere that someone had created a CM10/10.1 ROM from scratch for tilapia, surely not well optimized, but a CM ROM however, with all the CM goodies that AOSP doesn't have.
Tilapia is ony a modified version of grouper, the WIFI-only Nexus 7, and it would be great if someone know how to port this build to tilapia without loosing the 3G feature, which is really useful for me.
So, if you are interested too in a tilapia/nakasig CM10/10.1 ROM for Nexus 7 3G, comment this thread!
Hoping this will increase the great developers efforts to this (apparently forgotten) device. :fingers-crossed:
...and sorry for my bad english..
I daresay, it is not forgotten - they are working on making 10.1 as a whole. Once they get it available I am sure that one of the enterprising developers who has the 3g model will make it happen. I don't really think a petition is necessary. Don't poke the bear.
Another option - you could try to work on it yourself.
grouper custom kernels should work on tilapia. i know that the trinity kernel works on all variants of the nexus 7, it has been confirmed.
I subscribe petition
This device just came out... Dont expect it to happen unless you know a dev that has interest in building it for us... This device came out on the heels of a wifi version that a ton of people bought and its going to either take a while or some donations to get a cm build.

I Hope Cyanogen don't stop developing or stops giving priority to the Nexus One... I'm wondering if his priority from now on is developing, mainly, for the Nexus S....and then ported it to other phones???
Cyanogen just to let you know that is a lot of people out here thinking that the Nexus One is still one of the best phones (specification wide) than a lot of phones right now...and the Nexus S wasn't that attractive (specification wide) to switch my Nexus One either... so hope you can keep the Nexus One as one of your priorities when developing ... Thanks a lot for allllllll your contributions to the android community as well...
Patiences my friend.... Cyanogen doesn't even have a Nexus S to the best of my knowledge.... Koush made the alpha release for the Nexus S.... It will come soon, patience!!!

As far as i'm aware the other phones which have alphas released used the same approach as the crackflasher team i.e. compiling it themselves. Then again I could be wrong
Yeah, there is no CM7 release on any phone yet. So I don't see why there should be any whining. Compile it yourself or get one someone else compiled from the development forum.

hey guys. i'm over from the lg optimus one forum.
if you havent noticed, miui is casting a vote on which device they should port MIUI to (the vote can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/questions/217517851641131/?qa_ref=ssp). as you can see, both the optimus black and the optimus one are losing to the more popular, higher-end devices.
if you are a fan of miui, then this might be of interest to you. the reason why i am posting this here is because it turns out that you can vote for more than one phone. i believe that if we support each other and cast a vote for both of our phones, we may stand a chance against those other phones. i know that maybe only one device will get it but anything is better than where we stand right now.
if you are not a fan of miui, then please disregard this message (but even if you are not a fan of miui, please support our phones by casting a vote for both of them).
i thought that you guys might understand as we (LG users) are the underdogs to companies such as samsung and motorola
Dont worry p970 is already on the porting list.
This is the fifth thread about miui... we need moderator to merge all the thread.

i dnt think any developer is using Ob u can see there is only 1 custom rom available till now for us i m very said to see this and thinking to sold my beloved OB
P970 = optimus black
One of Cyanogenmod devs has p970 and already released early alpha.
Eventually if he finished cm7 porting, miui is next. As i say OB is on miui porting list. They need cm first.
Please take a look on cyanogenmod release & changelog.
I've already voted both facebook poll & miui porting advice thread. I also shared both links to several forums and social networks, lets hope our phone gets one

at least you guys are on the porting list. we already have a working (and almost official) cm7 but the optimus one is not even on any porting list. miui ports for our phone have not been successful because our phone has an armv6 processor; in the words of another user:
popdog123 said:
Well i'm back... finally finished my exams and got some time for myself.
But i have a bit of bad news. I've been studying android and how it's build and how it works and i'm afraid this might be an impossible port to make for now. I've looked into the Galaxy 3 port and it's not an actual port. It's just the framework. So it is possible to port apps from the rom but they might not work fully because of incompatible libs.
Now about the libs, they are compiled specifically for a type of processor (in miui case armv7) which have some instructions built in. While armv7 may run armv6 libs it's not possible the other way around. So even if we got the phone to boot, and got the launcher and a few miui apps running it wouldn't be miui.
I see that SWEATTAIMI is still working to complete the port of the framework and i wish him the best of luck but i will have to step down since i am working on other android projects that are more likely to come to an end than this.

our only chance of getting a working miui for the optimus one is if the miui devs do it themselves

Hi there,
after extending my Vodafone subscription for another 2 years they sent me a SGS3 I9305... Over the last years i was using SGS and SGS II with CM... After googling half a day and reading the other half of the day i got stuck - not knowing what do know with the I9305 because I am addicted to Cyanogenmod since I first bought the SGS... With the SGS II it became even better and now I don´t know if I should laugh or cry holding a flagship smartphone in my hands which is not ( officialy ) supported by the Firmware / Rom I love. This Forum looks like the place to ask a few of my questions related to the future of my I9305, Cyanogenmod and a few other things... so here we go:
-Why is the cyanogenmod team not developing for the I9305?
-Will they take over the work that is put into the "userbuilt" Version and add official support for the I9305?
-Will the "userbuilt" Version stay something like a "sidekick" or can we expect nightlies / fixes on a regular basis?
-Will the "userbuilt" Version stay on top of new releases / versions of Android?
-Does Codeworkx now "officially" support the "userbuilt" Version or was he just "snooping around" and giving some advice?
-Is the I9305 already "born dead" and should I sell it and wait for another Samsung device that´ll be supported again?
I really don´t know what to do... The Vodafone ( Germany ) Stock Rom is pain in the a** and flashing other "experimentals Roms" is no good for me either. I love and admire what the Cyanogenmod developers are doing and how much "brain matter" and energy they put into their project, but from my ( quite selfish ) point of view it feels wrong to give up on the users which were given a f****n I9305 by their Mobile-Providers and not the I9300...
Please enlighten me and if there is hope to use the I9305 like it was possible with SGS and SGS II in combination with CM please give me a hint how to achieve that. I´d really appreciate some CYANO-LOVE for my "not so smart" smartphone...
Many thanks in advance and greetings from good old germany - Clever&Smart
I think the closest thing you're going to get is liquids rom which is very close to cyanogen if not better. At the moment it's not stable enough for me but I'm sure after a few updates it will be worth using.
For now I've customised ripper rom to get the pure look. And it works flawlessly. And let's face it you can't beat having a Sammy base so that the camera works as it was intended to!
But be patient things change pretty quick on here and maybe codeworks will change his mind

Amplified (the maintainer of Liquid Smooth I9305) has a say in official I9305 CM support but I don't know why you wouldn't just go for Liquid Smooth, we have a dedicated Dev that happily takes logcats, fixes problems, will be pushing out updates and most of all we know he will be sticking around unlike Codeworkx. Yes he has done SOO much but unfortunately he doesn't have our device and refuses to support Samsung for good reasons too so he can only do so much. Do as much as you can to help around and if we all do our bit we will see a flourishing I9305 forum.

Am I understanding your answer right? Is the Liquid Smooth ROM a ROM from the CyanogenMod Development Tree ?
Its they're own based of some from cm and aosp
It's pretty close though!

But - correct me if I am wrong - I think it´s still "not maintained" and codeworkx is flaming everybody who is not a development pro because he is mad... and under these circumstances it doesn´t seem to be very wise to install it right now - right ?

You have 2 options.
1. Install it and try it.. It's not maintained yet and it's Unofficial build as Codeworkx don't own an i9305.....
2. Wait until CM project have full support for i9305..... You can wait forever. ....
It's completely up to you mate

To answer your questions in order,
We don't have an official maintainer because
i: hardly anyone owns this device;
ii: of the few people who do own this device, most are not able to maintain it, and none have previously maintained devices for CM;
iii: codeworkx is not willing to maintain it because, in very short, Samsung are very nearly the worst OEM when it comes to supporting third-party development; besides which, he doesn't own the device, which makes it very difficult for him to work on the port.
If a maintainer appears, we'll get official nightlies. I wouldn't hold your breath.
As above, if a maintainer appears, he or she will likely take over the existing device tree and the unofficial version will just become irrelevant.
If someone makes new builds, yes. There are a few of us who can do that until something major breaks, since builds really only require time rather than knowledge.
Codeworkx does not, and has never, supported this device or offered to maintain it. He just took pity on us because no-one here has enough porting experience to do it properly otherwise. That said, he has fixed a lot of bugs, and at this point in time the build is pretty much comparable in stability to the t0lte builds.
Since you care about AOSP ROMs - sell it, get a Nexus 4. If for some reason you don't want that, just don't get a Samsung device - seriously. Almost any manufacturer save HTC would be better; Sony in particular seem to be flavour of the month. Samsung are really, really bad in this one regard (i.e., releasing proper sources). There's still a lot that's not yet released, and what's there took far too long to get.
With regard to the LiquidSmooth ROM, it's hard to judge exactly what Amplified can do. He hasn't updated the LiquidSmooth device tree except with the changes codeworkx has made. He also implied a while back that C/C++ aren't his preferred languages, in which case I would expect hardware support to improve slowly at best. I don't mean any of that as criticism of Amplified, of course, I just don't want to tell you that all will be well without knowing beyond doubt whether Amplified can fix driver issues down the line.
Having said that, the unofficial CM build really is entirely usable, and I expect LiquidSmooth is much the same. I daresay the former will be kept up-to-date by the community until Android 5 appears, at which point porting will probably require a skilled developer again. The progress of the latter is up to Amplified.
Does anyone know of a DEV that would be willing to port and maintain Paranoid Android for the GSM variants of the HTC ONE?
It will come eventually. The device is still fairly new and considering we've got official cm 10.1, unofficial aokp PA won't be far off.

I'm just over anxious lol
P.A.C. looks promising haven't used it on a device in a while.
CM, AOKP, and P.A.C. all withing the last few days. Things are seriously moving fast so just be a little patient.
Hi Developers,
First of all, thanks for all your hard working to provide so many high valuable Roms to Nexus 6.
Now that Miui has released the new MM branch for patchrom project, I'm wondering if anyone is going to port this to Nexus 6 so that we can have more choices to make our life colorful?
Thanks in advance!
I am in
I hope not. Nougat is on the horizon so why work on porting Marshmallow ROMs over when we already have plenty of stable choices available? Also this is just an opinion, but I think the majority of Nexus users specifically will agree with me: AOSP/CM based ROMs are superior to MIUI.
Its in the works. We have a couple threads about this already and even a half ported miui 7 build that flashes but doesn't boot.

There maybe someone that does it but like with most nexus devices don't expect much. Miui is openly hated by the nexus developers.
Your best bet is if you want it then follow the guide and try to make it happen. I'll wish you luck as you will need it.
