Hi. I just got an Xperia T. I'm just wondering if anyone has looked into UART, unbricking, alternate bootloaders, or other hardware related things? I just finished up a G+ hangout and teardown for an upcoming XDATV. In 3 hours I was not successful in finding UART. I'd like some help because I am not familiar with Sony's way of doing things.

+Any of you happen to came accross service manuals and/or schematics for T, TL, S, or any similiar phone? :>
Great news.
As far as I know no one has looked at anything really in depth like unbricking etc yet.
However, I would like to point you inthe direction of flashtool and Androxyde. I am sure you are aware that flashtool developed by bin4ry and androxyde is the tool for xperia phones. Getting your head around that will be the first step to understanding the differences with sony phones to other phones...
If you need any more info please just drop me a line and with my limited knowledge in this area I will try to help, or I could point you in the right direction with whom to ask.

I don't have any direct hardware experience, but as far as I know all Xperia's are actually completely unbrickable. With Flashtool or Flashboot you can pretty much rescue any 'bricked' device.
Aside the testpoint unlock in the 2011 models I haven't seen anything that involves direct hardware access either. What devs do is just pack pretty much everything boot-related into the kernel.
No they are not, J and DooMLoRD bricked their X10's trying my to repartion the device AFAIK...

I know exactly how to a device can be hardbricked, and also how to fix almost any software based problem.
The problem in new sony phones is that security hole in qualcomm SoC is already patched, so there is nothing to do with this new phones since the security is almost impossible to break.

There is no way to crack the security, devs must find a new hole to exploit. Just like all previous xperia phones.

Get a case, preferably a silicone one. It'll delay the peeling of the back coating by a lot.
If development is what you're after, I recommend that you first unlock your bootloader at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
After your bootloader is unlocked you should flash a kernel (I'd recommend Siyah Kernel or Advanced stock kernel)
Then flash to your hearts content! ROMs can be found in the All in One thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32978312&postcount=3

glad someone finally said it. After owning 50 or more apple computers since the IIci, many of which have gone around the world on tours loaded with ProTools with no significant issues at all and many happy customers, I can't understand why I still buy that junk.
I bet a HP would do the job nicely, if they support it a month after I bought it.

what an incredibly stupit blanket statement.
Guys, just ignore the troll. If you don't feed it, it will go away.
Successfully rooted all my devices with a Mac. Just need fastboot and adb, everything else is identical to rooting on a PC.
In the development section there is a great post by torx which outlines the steps. But basically you first unlock the bootloader through HTC, then install recovery and flash Superuser or SuperSU in recovery. Then you're unlocked and rooted and can install Rom's.
So yesterday I found out about this modification that allows me to take pictures with the volume key button (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266208). I really wanted this feature, but had no clue what "flash one of the MOD with CWM RECOVERY" meant.
It being my first time, I totally failed haha. I installed a bunch of apps including ROM manager, fastboot etc and I somehow got my phone rooted and CWM recovery working (I think), but update.zip was missing. Tried several ROMs on my SD card, which didn't work. Ultimately, I ended up putting my phone into the horrifying bootloop and I had to wipe the entire phone with software update.
My phone stats:
Model number: C6603
Android version: 4.1.2
Build number: 10.1.1.A.1.253
I have no clue if my phone is locked or unlocked.
My question: how do I install this modification, preferably with a step by step guide from a clean Xperia Z? Thanks in advance!

If you were on 253 from the beginning, you probably never rooted your device because there is no exploit for 253. To root 253 you have to downgrade to 434. Also use Check Root to confirm if your device is rooted before you go trigger happy with apps,

Listen dude. Just stop grasping at straws. The tool roots 253 just fine. The remount reboot problem is nothing to do with that. That problem is caused by the RIC service and is nothing to do with Doomlord's tool at all.

Yes you can, but theres a lot discussion about kingo root

It will root your phone, but will collect and send a lot of data to China in order to do so.
Kingo claim that they no longer collect your IMEI, but say nothing about device ID/serial numbers etc that they have been caught sending unencrypted to their server before.
I do not trust them at all and the fact that their app is currently not allowed on XDA says a lot.
Edit - Also, the guy saying he is too lazy to find out what is wrong with the Kingo app is just the sort of person that creators of malware rely upon to both use and propagate their apps. Laziness is no excuse to use and recommend use of questionable software, ever.

Is it possible to make a Thinktank kind of post in cross device forum?
Or is it against the rule
cause I don't think people come to this Q&A forum that much :silly:

I've seen one about 4K porting by olokos in sony cross device forum.
and one about two step booting process by DooMLoRD in Z2 Original Android Development
So,I'm pretty sure it's fine.
Could you make the thread, many people know your mod.
They'll be eager to share some thought,I'm sure.
PS. 4K Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2767005
DooMLoRD Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765025

Actually it's not what we want and what mean, it for locked bootloader first of all,and second of all Bravia engine worked on my Xperia P excellent, it applied everywhere instead of gallery it also applied at homescreen YouTube etc, and me and others want this applied on this device z1 aswell cuz it needs some files to be edited to make it work,,, forget the kernels and custom roms we just talk abt X-reality and vivid mode applyable on screen expect album and movies

Exactly.
I think sony should make it work in next update.
but, even 4K and Timeshift need to be port by devs.
even if we have the same lens.
They just love abandoning a "more than 9 months old" devices.
So,I don't think they will help us with this

Nobody made it work for launcher... Those screenshots were taken from xperia p I guess. Right now this only works for images and videos on newer devices
Yes I do notice the same thing. mmm would it drain battery too much if it was on for everything??
