Hi can anybody tell me what this icon in the status bar is
Im an old Nexus One User but my brother still has the Nexus One and it is his device that is displaying this icon.
I have used several android devices but have never seen this icon before.
No luck searching the web for it.
Not in the owners manual
I decompiled the Framework-res.apk but did not find the icon in there so i assume that it is from another system app
[Symptoms]
The device can make and recieve calls & texts fine
Data works fine
Device is showing 0 Txt messages in messaging app however when you recieve a message it displays in notifications and you can reply but once you have left the screen, the message is gone and cannot be seen again (0 messages in messaging app)
same with call history, nothing is recorded at all
any help would be appreciated

[EDIT]
after entering the device /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db i can see all the txt data in there so it is in tact just android cannot access it
Looks like the MIUI guest mode.
Edit: a.k.a. visitor mode, privacy mode or guard mode.

Ok, so I just flashed Dutty's 4/29 rom not too long ago.
So far it has been great. But I have one thing I would like to change.
The signal icon at the top of the screen integrates the G/E/3G/H indicator for data. Is there a way to disable the larger Square G/E/3G/H indicator next to that? I feel there is no need to have both, and the less clutter at the top the better.
Here is a screenshot with the icon in question highlighted in the red box:

Normally I would search, but I did not know what to call that icon, and searching "disable data icon" did not get me where I wanted to go.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Also on a related note....
Is there a way to seperate out the multiple notifications.
For example if you get an email notification and a missed call, rather than having seperate icons across the top for each, you get a "notifications icon" that you have to click on which pops up the seperate icons:
Is there a way to seperate those out by default?
Anybody have any suggestions?
As far as i know thats not possible..
Hi All,
Until recently, when someone text me I use to get a Notification like below.... Basically, I would get the first line of the message along with a picture of the person who text me.

- [Note] This picture is not from my phone, found it on the Net
I believe this came from the STOCK Android Messaging App, even though I had Go SMS Pro installed and Active as my main SMS App.
I accidentally clicked on an Unread Message (which I didn't mean or want to do... as I wanted it to keep popping up) and turned its Status from Unread to Read, and now it doesn't show up anymore... I have found a way / App to use that can turn the status of the message to Unread again.
However it will not pop back up into the Notification Pulldown bar....?? Any idea's what this feature is, and how to get it back up there please????
(I know its a random request, but I just prefer that message to be always up there...)
Thanks, Lister
:bump: Anyone....??
Thanks, Lister
So I'm at a loss with this one.
For some reason, since getting my OnePlus 3T, I've had this issue where the text field in WhatsApp when sending media is obscured by the keyboard.
Every other device I've used has moved the text box to above the keyboard, but this one doesn't for some reason.
Does anyone know why this is happening? More importantly, does anyone know how to fix it?
I have tried different keyboards, different orientations, reinstalling keyboards... pretty much everything outside of a complete reset of the phone. I can't see what I'm typing when this happens and it's impossible to correct a mistake because even tapping the mistake puts the caret to the end of the text, and you can either delete it all and start again, or try to edit the mistake blind.

Is very different on my device ?
Sorry for such a late reply but, were you able to solve this? I'm having the exact same problem on my Zenfone 2 and i've tried everything you said to no success, the problem also happens when i try to send a DM through stories on Instagram.
Hi, I'm having a weird problem
When I call someone or in a call and I press the home button, the calling conversation turns into a round icon and goes to the top left side of the phone like facebook messenger chat head. It's very annoying as sometimes I don't know if the call is going on or not.
I've looked everywhere but haven't found a solution to disable it.
Please help if anybody knows.
It ia a feature of the dialler, not an issue.
If you see the round icon, the call is active. It will dissappear after the call will end.
Is there a way to bring back normal version of knowing if call is active i.e. the notification drop down menu? This round icon thing is very confusing. I feel as if the call has ended but sometimes its going on...
Just do not update the Dialler, or install different one. I didnt find any way to disable it.
Disable 'Display over other apps' for phone

So i just bought my Huawei P20 Pro a couple of days ago, and my only problem has been that the notifications don't turn on the screen whenever they come. I tried locating the Option but it doesn't exist for some reason on my device, while in other devices the option does appear. It's usually the first option.

Appreciate your time, but you quite didn't read my post, I know that that's the proper way to activate it, but for some unknown reason, that option doesn't appears on my phone. Took the time to take a screenshot and uploaded it in the link above, anyone else with a useful tip?
Sorry I didn't click on that weird link ?
Maybe try resetting your settings cache.
