None currently available, nor can you flash back to ICS to gain root then take the OTA and retain root!

I just posted that once you take the JB OTA, that you can't roll back to ICS. Not sure how to be more articulate?!?

o, i'm wrong, i think that is any way to roll back, so now i have only two way - sell my atrix hd, or wait for root at 4.1.1 :crying:
Wow, there is a way to regain root because most have only lost partial root. They just need to read. You might want to check out the thread called possible way of regaining root.

I know the Atrix HD community isn't that large but I hope a root exploit is developed soon. I'll donate to whoever comes up with it!

But that is if you have partial root. If you weren't rooted and took the OTA, this wouldn't work. Right?
I'm wondering about this myself. I just got an Atrix HD Day before yesterday and it had JB on it already when the guy at At&t handed it to me Was kinda disappointed since I was hoping to root and get rid of the bloat prior to going to JB.

I looked at that thread but since I didn't protect root or anything prior to upgrading, I cant get # in adb shell even though I have su in my bin folders and superuser.apk in my apps. I did have root in ICS though.

Cleaned the thread. If there are no comments that contribute to the topic, please don't post it. There are a lot of folks who are new and don't quite understand how things work. Lets all be as patient with them as people were to you when you first came here

I think you would have to look for similar exploits on similar Moto hardware to come up with a way to root the Atrix HD. Problem is if you visit this community or any other Atrix-centric community, the Atrix HD is pretty much abandoned for hardware with less restrictions.

i got an annoying notification on my bell atrix telling me that an update is available even if i press cancel ... I'm rooted an about to install ss3 as i understand that there is no way of installing a proper TWRP OR CWM because the bootloader is unlockable at the moment ....
So, the point of my question, would i rather be doing the official OTA or not ?! And how to keep root doing the OTA ?
HUGE Thanks

And what exactly would this have to do with exploiting MotoJellybean?

Have you guys tried Atrix 2 JB leak root method? They flash ics boot.img via fastboot first then root it with ics root tool. After that, flash it back with jb boot.img.

Sorry, but not me. I am already rooted and cannot afford to brick my phone.
It just my idea,guys.. Do it carefully as you can brick your phone. If we have a full flash JB,I can try it for you. FYI,Atrix 2 is also locked bootloader.
Please someone try this!
we do!
i have the jb fx file bro, go ahead and try it for us please

Nope..It's not working I guess. Someone has reported it. I need a full working stock JB full flash files. It will be safe to restore anything by RSD if this method can't boot my AHD.
thats what i have.

Solution to get Root :
bury your AHD in the ground and water it well , be sure its in a well lit place . Also use some fertilizers to speed it up . Your AHD should get plenty of roots in no time :good:
Ps : Since you have been on this forum for a year now and have above 100 thanks , you deserve the above answer as you should know better

i think it because you will had root before JB update. I flash FXZ ICS and forget about root, and now i can't keep root any way.
That "Easy Root Komplete" tool found on this page uses the famed MotoChopper exploit. I just FXZ'd my Bionic to 4.1.2 and tried Motochopper on it. It managed to install Superuser but it couldn't push in the su binary so it basically failed. I tried MotoChopper 3 times in a row but root was never actually achieved unfortunately.
Save yourself the effort. Motochopper only works on snapdragon based moto phones... For which the bionic is not.

So far there are no known Bionic JB root exploits. I was told a few days ago that the Bionic Gods are looking into maybe repurposing one of the RAZR JB exploits but I've not seen or heard anything since. DJRBliss has quit so this puts us Bionic owners in a very bad position. We can HOPE an exploit is found but I wouldn't expect it.
I would go as far to say that if it happens it will be a repurposing based on RAZR Blade. The chances aren't superb, but at least conceivable.

I think the samba share exploit has the most promise, actually. I don't know if our smart actions would allow a razr blade style exploit.
I can attest to the fact that this exploit does not work.
i can find the download link. one on the linked page doesnt work.

Thanx for the reply, greatly appreciated. Fingers crossed on an exploit!!!!!
Don't work anything what i try to do...just can't mount /system in rw.
Have little idea. We have locked bootloader, but preinstall.img not signed. I think must be something in this folder what work with su permissions, and if we moded preinstall.img, we can flash it and run script for mount /system in rw mode.
i tired and disappointed...i very need root, because without root, my phone just player....(((

That would be because there is NO working root exploit for JB. And there may never be.

I hope you are right! Unfortunately it's all a bit beyond my depth. I dunno why motorola is such a stick inthe mud, especially after Google bought them. All the Google devices have been easy to root and mod (Nexus series), but it's probable that since this is an older device without a gigantic user base, it just isn't getting attention, as evidenced by it not getting the GSM unlock that other phones with the same chipset got.
So sad. Lovely phone, crippled by the manufacturer from achieving it's full potential.
There's still hope though. Meantime, I'm sticking with ICS. LiquidSmooth and Eclipse 1.3 roms work exceedingly well, and root access lets me run all the stuff I want to.
