-Somehow format it, and install fresh original operating system for it?
Thanks in advance,

Assuming that you made a backup in your original recovery, just restore it. Otherwise you have quite the adventure ahead of you.
PM me if you further questions.

It looks harder than in fact it is. If u find nice tutorial how to get back to stock using odin, you wont encounter any barriers

You can't restore a backup to get back to stock rom. You'll need odin.
I dont understand why people dont figur this out before they mess with they're phone lol. No offence, but I really wanted to be sure of how to get back to stock before I flashed a custom one.

If you made a backup of your ROM before rooting, changing ROMs etc, you should be able to go back to stock. How did you root it? Flashable zip in recovery or with Odin? I used the recovery and know for a fact that I can go back to stock by restoring my stock backup. Not sure if it'll remove root access or not though. If it doesn't then you can always run the unroot.zip

How do you backup your rom without root acces? You'll need cwm right?

No. You can make a backup with original recovery. I did it before rooting, installing CWM, etc.

I doubt anyone would give you their backup, since its filled with personal info and so on. Why not just wipe all and re flash the rom?

because i think phone has lost a partition block so cannot do it that way. Someone could have also backed up as soon as they have put a new ruu in so still a feasible request

Just flash a different Rom dude. Your boot loop will be fixed, install a Rom with a kernel built in, you can't go wrong as long as you wipe all cache and format.

I believe it is not.
A new rom is a fresh install, A backup holds all partitions structures and is designed to restore in case of a fault hence my problem

Installed CyanogenMod 7 lost data

hi all,
Been reading these forums and decided to Install CyanogenMod 7
I rooted my phone
backed it up
Installed CyanogenMod 7
Part of the install procedure is Wipe data/factory reset which I didn't really give much thought to until after I had done it.
Since I have a full backup can I get me data back (contacts, messages, favourites) i'd settle for just getting my contacts back if possible
Hey
U can get it back if you had all that in your backup...
Just restore from backup..it'll work..

[S5830] How to flash the Stock ROM

Hello,
first of all, I am a total xda-noob (as told by the video) and my deeper Android knowledge is quite small.
Well, I'm seriouly considering to put the Cyanogen mod on my phone and now I have a question about going back to the stock ROM. I've made a backup of the stock ROM using Clockworkmod Recovery and this made seven files which can be seen in the added image. Now I'm wondering how I can go back to the stock ROM if CM doesn't fit me. I know I have to restore the backup in recovery mode but I think I'm right if I say this isn't enough. Can someone tell what to do exactly, as I am very cautionous. Or are there other ways to flash my stock ROM? Thanks in advance! MY CURRENT ANDROID VERSION IS GINGERBREAD 2.3.5
P.S. If this is already answered in another thread or if this placed wrongly, please tell me and I apologize for that.
UPDATE
After some searching I found this small tutorial which fitted my expectations. It said that it can indeed simply be done by restoring it in recovery mode by simply selecting the backup folder. Can someone comfirm this?
Almost right.
Cyanogenmod roms use a different format for the system, called 'ext4'. Stock roms use 'rfs' format.
Before restoring you have to convert to rfs. The easy way to do this is flashing a stock firmware with odin and your phone connected to the pc.
Quick guidelines to restore stock backup:
-flash a stock firmware through odin
-root
-flash cwm through recovery
-restore your backup
-you'll have everything exactly the same way you had it when creating the backup.
If you don't get any of the steps, read through the forum, specially the stickies (you wouldn't have opened this thread if you did so in the first place).

Thank you for answering. About everything is clear now and I understand what I'll have to do. I now understand there is indeed a difference between restoring and flashing a ROM. I've found an online guide which tells me how to use Odin. Only one more question: before using Odin, do I have to factory reset and clear cache partion? I think I do but I'm not quite sure. And if I do this before using Odin, will my phone even be able to boot in recovery mode/download mode? Thanks in advance!

it cause no problems..
jst wipes user apps and datas in int memory...
but you hv to wipe data and cache via recovery after flashing via odin at first boot..

Are you mental or just plain sadistic? Telling new ace users to try Rom Manager?
ROM MANAGER WILL BRICK YOUR ACE.
Only under some very specific conditions rom manager works in the ace, if you don't know them, stay away from this app.

I am installing it, but the progress bar hasn't moved for a few mins, in fact it's not even filled up at all. I have used this before on the same phone and it flew, but I had to factory reset (kids messed up the phone) and now it just sits here. Not sure what else to do, any ideas?
Yes I cleared cache facory reset before installation.

:angel:Hey Guys,
I installed CWM 5.2.7 in my galaxy pop 2.3.6
i tried to make a backup file with Nandroid (cwm)
after backing up process is finished i only see 2 files in my sdcard
1. Boot.img
2. Recovery.img
size of both are only 8 MB
is backup is done properly ?? 0_o
i mean gingerbread file is approx 90 MB
and Nandroid give me 2 files of 8 MB each? what about installed/downloaded apps ?
what if i restore from this backup?
would all apps came back??
plz reply guys:angel::angel:
I think you are ruining stock Samsung firmware
and it cannot be backed up
Stock firmware ? U mean official firmware ?
If this is what u mean then Yes, im using it and i have CWM 5.2.7
i tried nandroid backup and it gives me what i mentioned above .
And what is the point of backing up if u cannot backup on official firmware along with all downloaded app?
I thought Nandroid give me a full backup image which shall contain all settings and apps . In short, just the way it is right now!
And all i need to do a flash restore through this CWM thing....

Use the guide from here by nirogu325 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
It has all that you need. And when in recovery, it's not necessarily 'apply update from SD card'. Just choose the zip file that you have to flash to gain root. I suggest that you use TWRP recovery on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
Thanks for your help, I will try the instructions although they look a bit complicated for a near novice like me. My problem with the zip file is that when I am in recovery mode I cannot select any path leading to the SD Card root folder where the zip has been uploaded. It drives me nuts, it seems to work for everyone else but me!

The original gingerbread recovery had an option to flash zips. The ICS recovery did not. Rooting was way easier on GB because of this. The only way to root ICS is to install a custom recovery to flash a root.zip file.

Ok, I think I need some help. I cannot flash zip drives from the standard ICS recovery as I do not get the option of accessing the SD card (see photo attached) so I can't either root or flash CWMR zip. As suggested I have tried Odin but there are no instructions on how to flash a CWMR zip in the tread, only how to flash ROMs. I have tried to search with the PDA or BOOTLOADER buttons but I cannot load a zip file in Odin. I am really not sure what to do now?

Done! Not without drama... At first the system would not reboot, had to flash custom recovery, wipe everything and flash the ROM again and then it restarted. Not sure I am going to mess up with my tab again! Stuck to ICS forever it seems...

Well yeah I didn't mention that you should do a full wipe first because I thought you already knew that
anyway, hopefully messing up with your tab won't be necessary, cuz stock ICS is the best, personally I use this tweaked one:
[ROM][ICS][STOCK][P7300/P7310][LQJ/LPV][Deodexed/Odexed] Final Build [14/1/14]
It is the best!!!:victory:
Cheers, what are the differences with the tweaked ROM you have?

Agree, I've tried the 10.1.3 and 10.2 CM versions before. But IMHO, overall performance is not on par with stock ICS.

It's a matter of preference, actually. In my case, I used the original firmware on the thread and tweaked it to my liking.
