With ICS my photos end up with a pink/redish sphere in the middle of the photo.
With GB no!
I have view same problem on others phones (Sansung Note, Galaxy II), all have ICS!!
I think the problem is in google camera's code
Does anyone else experience this?
I experienced that also in cm10 camera but mine is purple color even on focus/out-of-focus
I think it's in the flash because i tried to take photos with and without flash

I have downgrade my phone to GB and the photo back to normal, i try to install GB camera on ICS but it's fail.
Of course it will fail we need to wait someone to modified cm10/ics camera
I think it's over exposure because of the flash
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk 2
It could be the heat from the CPU which is causing this.
No, i haven't any problems with gingerbread, it's a bug software!

I have the same issue, and I would agree with you, because the problem is evident with any of the 6 different camera apps I tried, not just a stock ICS camera. It looks like some OS component providing the sensor data to a camera app is buggy. I am not a developer, so I have no idea what part of code that would be, but to my understanding camera apps don't talk to hardware directly...
And, BTW, this issue has nothing to do with flash overexposure, as previously suggested, because it's clearly visible on photos taken without flash...
Edit: Forgot to add one thing that I find a bit weird... In my case, this "pink spot" is only visible on photos taken in average natural light (like on a cloudy day, i.e. not bright). However, if I take pictures in a bright sunlight, or under artificial lighting (incandescent or CFL), or with flash, they turn our great, with no such artefacts. Go figure...
I tried other phones with ics and seems to be a common problem in low light, does not happen with sunlight.
Should compare the code jni between gingerbread and ics, i think.
I'm a Java developer but i'm develop j2ee/flash web applications.

Can you give us an example of your taken photos?
And what would that help !? When the picture was watched from my stock gallery.....zooming made it very blurry but when i watched the very same picture on my laptop, the quality was flawless.
I hope u get it now

The stock gallery is shi*. Try out another gallery app like QuickPic, you'll see the difference man.

Because I don't have that problem. My OB stock gallery was fine...
yup that is a common problem with most android phones, not just ours.
HTC modded their gallery app to overcome this problem.
That's not a problem first of all because this way the images load a lot faster and don't lag because of the 3d effect. The gallery doesn't make them blury just resizes them, who would need it at 5 mpx?also you could always try another gallery app.

very wrong point of view. looking to blurry pictures is sucks. i hardly see small details like faces. we spent hundreds of dollars to this machines. i want best music quality, best picture quality, best gps quality, best call quality, etc. if possible.
btw, quickpic is great. thanks for advice.

Don't believe your camera result by viewing via your phone screen. 5MP jpeg sized into your 800x480 4" screen, of course it will look nice.
professional studio photographer usually using macbook (which is using IPS panel), to direct preview photos instead of their SLR's built in LCD.

He also said viewing at pc better than viewing OB.
I think you will find NO mac book even the pro series has IPS display.
No profesional will use them in studio if choice is given, they are mainly on location solution.
Saying that the p970 screen gives good colour acuracy compared to my CALIBRATED IPS screen. This was the main reason for me buying it as I can't stand the i-junk.
And coming to the point.
Yes the gallery doesn't show properly the pics, but shows them reasonably and provided you do not zoom does the job. My main gripe with yhe galery though is the structure and controls. Too slow and controls are just dumb.
If 100% zoom is required there are plenty of programs in the market that will do it nicely.
QuickPic is indeed fast ,options are easy to sortout. I like functionality instead off visual candy

Hello, I am experiencing something word with my camera. I'm not really sure if we consider it a hardware problem or something. As you can see, there are purple lines that appear on my pictures.. Why is this? Second question, can I get my phone replaced because of this problem?
P.s. I used to experience this in my blackberry storm 1 after a few years. Attaching photos. 1 st photo was taken with my Note and the second was with my storm.

Do you notice the same banding effect on your phone if you use Gallery or browse the net? In low light conditions the striped effect has been reported by many other Note users - search for "banding" and you'll see what I mean
I do notice the effect but only when in low light - if the screen is set to higher brightness the banding effect goes away. So maybe it is not camera related but more to do with the screen?

Okay, I'll read up on banding later on. I tried turning up the brightness on full and took a test shot and still, there were those lines. I kind of noticed that this banding happens more for whites than low lighting conditions.
Thanks by the way!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Simple test would also be to transfer the photo to your PC and see if it shows banding there? (I am probably wrong but assuming you used screenshot feature of Note to take screen captures?)
PS - don't just say it - hit the Thanks button
Sorry I'm new here. there you go.
Anyway I'm not yet home so have no access yet to my PC. Got to chat and show what's wrong with a photographer friend. he told me that this is a common problem due to the fluorescent light. True enough,I tried some low light shots under a different light bulb and no banding. I was quite convinced and so I'll continue trying to do tests.

Does anyone know of an Android App that will correct the 'pink spot' issues generated by the Galaxy Note camera (happens when taking pictures of 'light' areas in low daylight)??
....it looks like a white balance problem so I am looking for something that can adjust this correctly before taking a picture (standard camera settings do not work) OR can correct the problem through editing after the picture has been taken.
Many Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply...I will try the light metering options... Do you know if changing the ISO settings would also help?
Do you also mean that the problem is less on custom roms? If so, have you found any that work better than others in addressing this issue ?

Havent tested ISO settings, you can try, I am curious.
Not necessarily custom roms. I am now on lc2 rom and noticed it, on lci dbt csc I did not notice it. I dont always see it on all roms, thats what I mean.
I do notice differences in picture quality across roms, stock and custom Cm9 for me are hazy, stock ics not much better. Stunner. 19 was good, 26.1 again not good. Havent a clue why I experienced that, others dont experience it, so it for me is rom dependant, for you it could be different
.

thanks again....I will have a play around and see what I can come up with....given the number of people that seem to have this problem it seems worth some 'digging'
Your welcome, and Yes definately,
My findings are inconclusive. I did track down rom relation, even updated camera app from one rom to another, didnt work, in that one instance.
Havent tested kernels thought, they could also be different.
That centerweighed to matrix worked for me, but changed the yellow circle to a matrix lmao
Good luck bug hunting

I dont know if its applicable with this version of the optimuos but the lg camera ap was posted in the g2x forums try searching there.
I am very dissapointed with O4X stock camera. Hard to focus especially in night /low light condition (without flash)
Why LG only provide 2 mode for focusing, and those mode works almost the same way?
Manual focusing by tapping on screen doesn`t help improve quality.
They should add more focusing mode like macro etc.

Not a big fan of the camera neither, I can't figure out how to take clear pics. Many pics isn't sharp.
I have 3 different camera apps and none of them is good on inside photo..
I have the original app, camera zoom fx and lgcamera, where lgcamera is the worst. Only on auto focus the camera actually focus (original). Still I get pics that isn't sharp.
I'm on 10f... For me it seems like it got worse after the latest update...

In the original camera app there's only auto and face reckoning...
In camera zoom fx it won't focus in fixed mode, macro and infinity just taking the pic with ones. Lgcamera is the same and camera360 focused a bit (macro)..

I don't think it's bad and I don't really have any problems with focusing. I just touch the screen where i want to focus and when it is focused I press the the shutter button (or volume button).
I also had the N8 (well 3 actually) and woow I liked that camera, though I had problems with the screen, pink tint and things like that. After the third phone I took the money back. It would have been very nice if the N8 was an android phone.
I love it too,i hope the next version will better than now:laugh::laugh:

I recommend u to use Camera ICS+, I purchased it and it works perfect for me. You may try the free version, which is Camera ICS, it is actually the google stock camera with some mods, but I personally think it is even better than the stock LG camera app, hope u enjoy it.:good:
I use lgCamera, both free and pro version can provide better pictures with ISO and focus control, but sometimes it cannot save picture properly (resulted in picture without thumbnail)
