Not sure if this is the correct section to ask this but is there any way I can use the touchwiz interface with CM10 on my gTab2 P3110? I'd like to use a custom rom but in my opinion the touchwiz launcher is way better than any others like nova launcher, apex launcher and go launcher HD. I saw another user saying that you can't just put certain files in the correct places, that simply won't work. So is there any port avaliable?

Possible, yes, but why?
IF you want Touchwiz the Samsung stock 4.1.1 ROM will work better. Cm10 has no advantage since they are both core 4.1.1. and you need more than just an app to run Touchwiz, it requires the Samsung framework and widgets.
If possible I would like to have the widgets for P3110 especially the time/weather widget
is that possible?

I tried a ported tw launcher on a ROM, and it seemed like the Ui was meant for a phone, as the home screen was a little small, I mean the usable space was small, not the icons etc. Is this one a better match for tablets?

Try this, it is just the launcher and required framework. Works fine on CM10 and 10.1.

so I just got the update today and I'm very happy. However, I can't get LP to work on ICS. It closes everytime I try to select it and I get the msg "unfortunately, LP has stopped." Anyone experience this problem?
Its just not compatible with ics and no info on if it ever will be since the dev hasn't updated it in ages.

Go Launcher EX > Launcher Pro... By miles..
Haven't had any issues. In fact, I went back to using LP instead of ADW Ex because the latest ADW Ex update jacked up the dock and the older version has a dumb looking bar at the top of the screen, probably some weird honeycomb code. Even though LP hasn't been updated in 7 months, it's still working fine for me on ICS.
Just downloaded Go Launcher, thanks. I've been stuck on LP for so long bc of the widgets. Haven't customized my Nexus ina loooong time but ever since I got ICS, it feels like I have a new phone to mess around with lol.

If you want something similar to LP's widgets to use with Go Launcher check out APW. Free and Paid version. Or use GoWidgets.. Solid widget set though. - https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZHIud2lkZ2V0cy5jb3JlIl0.
I also used Launcher Pro Plus on GB stock rom.
Actually on ICS is stock launcher the best - and instead of LPP widgets you can use "Android Pro Widgets" free on market (looks exactly like from LPP)
Launcher Pro will crash on ICS if you use the calendar widget. It should work fine if you don't use that widget - that worked for me.

+1 no doubt about it
I use ADW EX it works great plus its been updated for ICS compatibility.. any launcher>LP lol
On Gingerbread, Launcher Pro is still the best and smoothest launcher. I really hope that Fede has been working on re-writing the whole app and making it compatible for ICS.
Why would u want another launcher on ics?

To make the top row useable, limit the number of homescreens, custom number of rows and columns on homescreen, resizable icons, fully resizable widgets, etc.
Go launcher is the worst.

Because all of the android stock launchers are freaking butt ugly. Especially the ICS version. It's no wonder why htc uses sense and Samsung touchwiz. Because if they tried to sell phones with stock android launchers they wouldn't sell many phones. Believe it out not, most of the phone buying world feels this way. For the most part, only the hardcore android fan boys like the stock launcher.

Just use Nova launcher -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
based on ICS stock launcher + lot of features (Docks, Grid,...etc) and Uber fast.
PS: And works when GPU rendering is on while GO launcher got artefacts/Gfx bugs.

Why fix it if it ain't broke? Compared to the latest versions of ADW Launcher EX and GoLauncher EX, LauncherPro runs way smoother and lag-free on my gf's G2 with GB 2.3.4 and my Nook Color with GB 2.3.7.

It cannot even change page order now, and the re-build was said last year and what we get now? Not even a word about it.
I know we cannot demand anything from a dev so I just switched to another launcher
I'm currently running THS build 15, and I absolutely love it. The only thing preventing this ROM from being pretty much complete in my books (other than some of the 'placeholder' settings) is the fact that the Trebuchet launcher doesn't allow hiding of apps in the app drawer. I hate clutter, especially since I don't use 90% of the 2 pages of apps that come with it by default.
I love the ICS theme and the ICS drawer, but are there any ICS launchers that are similar but allow hiding of apps in the app drawer?
you could try go launcher with ics theme

So I do, works perfect for me. Go Launcher is the best one atm imho
Hello fellow SGN users,
Now that the official Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 has been released to SGN users primarily in Europe, I would like to find out if there are any alternative launchers that is compatible with ICS or more importantly launchers that strictly run on ICS?
I've seen NOVA and APEX launchers and going to give them a try so i was just wondering if any of you know of any other alternatives?
those are the best ics ones
been testing them both on and off myself, not sure which one i like best, but i dont like that i cant use the s-widgets with them i really like s-planner calender any alternative to that?
I hear GO launcher works.
I bought both Nova and Apex Launcher. I like Apex the best but they are very similar and are hard to tell apart.
Do Apex or Nova allow you to hide the dock?
I'm using ADW EX on 2.3.6 and don't use a dock.
I'm hoping some of the random lagginess switching between screens will disappear once I upgrade to ICS, but if it doesn't I might have to look for another launcher.
Thanks,
Rich

I am using ADW. I hate the "new" ADW EX. Flashed official ICS today. ADW ran awful. Very laggy. App drawer scroll kept hanging and the touchscreen was nearly unresponsive on the ADW screens. One widget kept failing to update as well.
Long story short, I flashed back to GB with Franco.kernel #10. Works flawlessly again!
I just don't see any improvement with ICS. Samsung's version looks like GB anyway.

I use GoLauncher EX of the simple reason that it enables 8 rows with 10 columns. I can't get that with either Apex or Nova (they limit at 7 x 7 at most).
GL EX is also pretty similar to good ole LauncherPro and since that has been a trusty launcher for a long period of time, I certainly prefer to have that functionality intact.
But I will give Apex a new chance immediately when 8 x 10 is enabled for the home screen since it is good otherwise but just 7 rows destroys my layout.
Almost without exception, any launcher that works on GB will work in ICS.
i tried nova and apex.. and they are good..
but i don't like them since i can't make folders on the app drawer...

Of the ICS themed launchers (tried Nova and Apex), I always go back to Nova cos it's smoother for me. Always notice slight jitters on Apex, which is a pity, cos I also quite like Apex's functionality.
(I'm using Nova Prime (paid)).
Apex Launcher as a system app. Damn good in here...

what's the difference between installing apex and your procedure?
Can any1 give me the link for the stock ics launcher? I don't want to have touchwiz or any other thing, just the pure android ics launcher
I am testing Miui Home Launcher, a lot of themes are avaible.
My favorite is Go Launcher ex and SS Launcher.

refer OP from Apex Launcher Dev
I've had the best experience so far with ADW Ex.
Apex launcher for me. I like it and it tons of option.
Really like the Suave HD Icons that I was using on MIUI but now that I am using CM9 I am wondering how difficult this is.
I looked a the numerous theme tutorials and it seems to get really in depth and complicated. I don't want to theme everything... I just want the icons.
Here is the link to the SuaveHD thread. Maybe someone could be kind to either explain how it's done? If it's too complicated? Or maybe just make it.

Download a pack for your launcher and use it. Else, hold the icon on home screen and click on edit, manually select the icon.

If you are using apex launcher...
tap and hold the desired icon...
touch edit..
tap the icon and touch select picture.
now you can select and icon from gallery.
I'm using Teamhacksung's CM9 build 14 and I think it uses the trebuchet launcher? Sorry, I'm still new to CM9 since I came from MIUI.
I'll have to look into that launcher. Is there performance degredation from using different launchers? I don't quite understand that part yet... all I know is that I installed the MIHome launcher and it really wasn't that great since it was mix-matching a lot of stuff.

Just download apex or nova launcher. Whichever suits you. Download an icon pack for it and then in settings of the launcher, select the icon pack under theme menu.

So I’ve got an AT&T note 3, rooted.
I want to change the touchwiz launcher (I would like to stick to touchwiz) so it has a 5x5 or 5x6 grid on the home screens - and I understand this can be done by modifying SecLauncher4.apk in /system/app
(I’ve tried Wanam Xposed, it doesn’t seem to be able to change anything about the launcher)
So I pulled off SecLauncher4.apk and SecLauncher4.odex, and decompiled the .apk using AndroidMultitool
I modified the two .xml files under /res/values-sw359dp-xxhdpi so that it’ll have the 5x5 grid with appropriate height/width/padding values.
Then I use android multitool to recompile the apk.
And…. Now what?
Does anything have to be done to the .apk after recompiling it?
Does anything have to be done related to the odex?
I’ve got a basic understanding of what odexing means, but I don’t know what the practical implications of this are for modding an odexed rom.
Do I need to do anything special to copy SecLauncher4.apk back to /system/app and have it work?
What other things do I need to know before going forward, if I want this to work?
Why would you stick with touch wiz when nova is soooooo much better!!

I haven't played around with different launchers, other than stock touchwiz and Google's stock launcher (which I didn't like). The only complaint I have about the current launcher is that it has a 4x4 grid instead of 5x5.
My general preference is to stay as close to stock as possible, while still being happy with the result.
