Restore .sbu backup files after flashing GT-N7000 into JellyBam - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hai everyone,
I am amazed with iGio90's custom ROM and the features included make my jaw dropped to the floor.
After flashing my GNote to JellyBam my PC Kies unable to establish connection with my phone and I know this could be due to the custom kernel and ROM in my GNote. I need to restore my .sbu backup file into my phone as there are a lot of important infos for my work. TQ guys.
**I do searched this topic everywhere in this forum and I didn't found any. Sorry if I missed one.

kies wont connect to a custom rom. so..
dint you make a backup using TB or CWM? if not the long way out is to get back to a stock rom, restore those files, and then use TB to backup and restore on new rom.
or check this thread

Thanks for your suggestion nokiaguy.
It could be tedious if i revert back to stock ROM and backup using TB and then flash it again to JBam. The JDK cardextractor app only able to extract contact but it still great. However i need other files too.
Does TB recognize .sbu file type?

I don't think so

One more thing about JBam I can't download attachment from email.

Backing up and restoring..

Hi guys, just wanna ask, if I fully backup my ROM, is my app being backup too?
Can someone guide me how to backup everything from cm7, including my app, app data, so that I can restore at a later point?
And also, if I'm returning to stock using nvflash, do I need to revert the ext4 to ext3? If so, how!
Thanks

Use recovery to back up.. easiest and safest.. it will create an image of your rom on the SD card..
So if i use cwm to do a backup of my current rom that basically just takes a snap shot of my stock rom? So if anything goes wrong when i am flashing a custom rom I can just restore my previous backup and all will be working again? (as long as i haven't caused any lasting damage)
Many thanks

Including all... Apps, settings etc. CWM saves the entire content of system, data, boot and cache partitions.
You can even make a specific restore in advanced restore menu of CWM you can restore only data for example..(data is where all user apps with their settings are stored)
A good rising app is AppExtractor (see in market) than can use CWM backup files to restore apps, sms, etc... But this time from within the launched system, not from CWM recovery.
Titanium is a must too.
Hmm, so do I complete backup using cwm and also using titanium backup? Or I just need to backup using cwm only?
Or.. how bout' telling me the step to backup my whole cm7, plus guide to restore it back? This is my first time backing up.. :/

I have both: one Nandroid using CWM, to be able to restore the entire system if needded or if I want to try another ROM and come back later, plus a Titanium to have only app backups.
There is no howto to write, they are all already written, and using those two apps is really very simple no need to explain. Just menus to explore. Which steps ? Have you ever looked at CWM menu? it's all written : Backup restore etc... just select.
Try it by yourself it's the best way. You can't harm anything.
Try AppExtractor once you've made your backup you will see its possibilities, can nearly replace Titanium.

Oh ok, thanks!
And.. if I backup cm7 ROM, I have to be at cm7 in order to restore that back up? Or I can just restore the back up with other ROM?
P.s. What about the ext4 thingy? Do I have to go back TO 3 if I going to flash my phone to stock using nvflash?
Thanks a million man!!!

What are you talking about?
Titanium restores APPS... doesn't have anything to do with ROM version...
CWM restores the entire ROM. And for your info, CWM isn't part of any ROM it is a software installed in a different partition called /recovery. When you are in CWM you are not in a ROM you are in ... CWM.
Ext4 and Ext3 are file systems try Wikipedia, too long to explain... If you restore a ROM with CWM 5.0.2 version you don't have to bother about that as CWM reformat partitions according to what is specified in backup files.
Okay! Now I understand.. Haha

[Q] Getting it all 'back' just in case ....

Hello all,
I have rooted my galaxy note, have recovery working and think i am ready to tweak my machine.
I have created a backup from recovery so am i correct to think that after flashing, lets say, custom kernal,i can get it all back to where i am now by restoring this backup made from recovery?
And same goes for flashing and trying ROCKETROM?
Love this forum by the way, keep it up!
you get back the exact status of which the backup was made from.
you can easily check out different roms and get back to your old system by restoring from the backup (dont forget to geht them specific names as they are named by date+time)

Now how's that for a quick reply, thanx two_handed,making different backups while trying different stuff is a good one!
The kernel will be over-written by your restore.
If you flash a new kernel and then restore your previous backup, you will lose the new kernel and return to your original setup.

Ahh,tx nobnut, with that i have both my questions answered
Gonna try out sum stuff right away!!
There is just one thing to bear in mind.
Some kernels use different recoveries than 'stock' (e.g. Chainfire's modified recovery). If you use one of these, your restore might not work.
Don't worry. If you flash the Chainfire kernel again using the CWM app or Mobile ODIN, you can then restore your backup.

Whats the "different" recovery? Red pill? If yes, red pill backups are normally compatible with cwm recoverys and vice versa.

Lost IMEI

Hi,
My IMEI is 004999010640000.
I understood from reading on this forum that it is not a valid one.
However, my phone works.
I did back efs folder but I might had backed it up after too ma y past flashes.
1. How can I know if IMEI is fine?
2. Can IMEI or eds folder be restored from carrier/other if my backup is obsolete?
3. Can I find it in an old nandroid backup? How?

10x,
If it is corrupted, how can flashing a stock rom restore it?
I am on ICS. Should i simply flash a stock rom using cwm recovery?
I'd hate flashing back and forth, is there any alternative solution?
If my phone works, why do I need the imei for?

Trumpy

What ROM are you booting into now?
I restock via Odin.use gingerbread stock, pit file and then dbdata.Odin show fail but boot on gingerbread when I again tried flashing.it happen to me before too as once by mistake i restore stock nandroid over cm9.
so currently on gingerbread.right now downloading over come gb stock safe v5 ll try flashing it.

baseband is unknown.i flash aokp again that may be that correct it bt didnt works.can i install gb stock safe directly over aokp 40# or again hv to restock.

you have to restock when coming from MTD rom like AOKP or CM9.
even for nadroid restore you have to restock then restore.
when restock, it is best using GB-stock-safe.
use its pit file and it also has modem files.
Edit, are you referring to GB-stock-safe when you said "overcome rom"?
Overcome ROM is a different thing.
yes gb stock safe i was about to correct that.i install bml my mistake due to rom naming confusion
now ll gb stock safe help in getting baseband?

honestly I don't know about efs.
I read of people losing /efs due to bad kernel, but got it back with good flash.
I don't get it because I thought /efs once is deleted it is gone unless there is backup.
Anyway, you have checked your sdcard, no backup?
and GB-stock-safe can be flashed coming from aokp.
that is how we restock.
i didnt create any backup bt there is auto back up one with name efs and another with efs-294 .
and where is modem file for gb stock safe.it is not in zip file i download.only rom,pit file and overcome kernel.

even if you delete efs folder, android will generate a new one with a different imei, its a real problem because he will find a hard time with his apps (paid ones) i tried the new efs once and i can't use my Samsung paid apps anymore, when restored my old efs, it works again.
If I helped you, please press the thanks button
efs.img
Hello.i tryed to backup efs partition on tab p1000,and got the 2gb efs.img file.As i know now,its too big.Is it possible that image contains /efs folder in it?And if yes,how can i restore?
Restocking didn`t bring imei back.
What did you use to restock?
i haven't heard of a 2gb /efs backup before. sounds like you should restock using a proven method like Overcome. Maybe you should try this out:

like many, i also lost imei once, and this rom brought it back.

Use one of these Odin or Heimdall One Clicks to get back to Stock KK4. That has proven to restore the imei for several. Then once u r back and have the # restored, back it up in a few places, just in case u run into this problem again.

KK4 is stock GB, make a backup before you flash it using Titanium Backup.
Flashing KK4 should restore your IMEI. Once on it, make a backup (copy) of your efs folder before going back to CM. That way, if it happens again, you'll be able to restore it.

After going back to cm just copy efs folder again. need for set permission? Sorry for my English is bad
Once you are on Stock KK4, only then make a backup of the good efs folder. And after flashin cm or whatever rom, if you loose your imei, then you can restore the good backup from kk4.
There are some threads with tutorials somewhere in this forum and also apps on the Play Store that can be used as well.

Is a jtag a tool that they use for hacking xbox 360?

Jtag is used to push ROMs/bootloaders into devices but I'm not even sure that would fix your problem if flashing stock KK4 doesn't fix it.
