Hey I just purchased the optimius g for att and am thinking about exchanging it for the ahd since it has jb now and its only a penny at best buy.. Just wondering if anybody else has switched and regretted it or are happy with their decision?

Haven't messed with the Optimus G. But the battery life on the AHD is superb with the EB40. Can't speak for everyone, but I've had absolutely no performance or battery issues with it. The lack of an unlocked bootloader kinda sucks but stock feels so clean. It's a matter of opinion.
Sent from my Jellybeaned Atrix HD MAXX
Optimus G is nexus 4 without the thermal issues. since you're considering the atrix hd I assume you don't care too much about roms, so that shouldn't be an issue.
in short, don't do it.
The Optimus G and Atrix HD share a common thread - development and the lack thereof. You won't see a plethora of hacks out there for them nor should you expect to. Go with the device that, for you, provides the most bang for your buck. The Atrix is crippled by low internal memory that cannot be fixed without rooting.
Atrix HD is a awesome device with lack of rom development, that is the only issue I have.
Thanks guys sorry I couldn't get back to anybody yesterday... I do like to flash ROMs but mainly to get to a stock like feel.. the ahd pretty much already has that for me.. I usually only have about a a gig of apps... even now with all my apps back on the phone... music and videos I still have 2gigs of internal memory left.. I liked the OG but I hated the Ui and the glass back cracking from temperature change was something I didn't want to deal with so I made the exchange. I would like root to get rid of the bloat instead of just disabling though.. is that achievable with jb yet? Other than that the only thing I plan on doing is the eb40 swap and I should be happy for now lol...

Just wanted to know what you guys think about the phone. I have my bionic but man the RAZR MAXX is pretty awesome to me for the battery life. Im thinking of getting that over the nexus. What do you guys think?

I do like it but its not enough of an upgrade. I'll wait until Motorola puts out something with a slightly larger HD screen, no buttons and ICS.

I would like to own the razr maxx. I think it has Li-Po battery right? Like the IPhones
Plus an over 3000 mAh battery.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I like it, but not enough to get it over the Galaxy Nexus. A locked bootloader is a locked bootloader and blur sucks. It also does not even have ICS, so don't hold your breath.
I just unloaded my nexus and am back to the bionic...with a rooted 901 it's not a bad phone. But that maxx would be killer for someone who doesn't like to worry about finding a charger. But as stated it really is more of a side step I think.
im sure it will get ics though. when it gets that ill compare it to the nexus
A better battery is always a plus, but I don't have many issues with my battery on the Bionic due to the fact that I charge it throughout the day (at my PC, in the car, before I sleep) and I use JuiceDefender.
I'm not sure how much better battery the MAXX has over the Bionic, but that definitely doesn't feel like much of an upgrade to me, either.
For 12 bucks I can buy a 3rd battery for my Bionic. Other then the lack of updates and rims for my bionic I love it. Oh yeah I can replace my battery the main reason I don't want an i phone from the get go. The bionic is still a beast.
the only good thing about the Maxx (aside from battery) is that itll make the original Droid Razr's price go down. I went to verizon and played with the galaxy nexus. While I love that its a Nexus device, the performance was identical to my rom'ed bionic so I might consider grabbing the Razr if the price is right
Not another one of these posts. Didn't we all go through this when the Razr was about to come out? Is this going to be a regular thing every time a new phone is announced?

AT&T didnt spend anything. They just wanted the phone to be cheaper so they could follow their marketing strategy
.
We were supposed to have a 2300mAH battery, 2GB RAM, an NFC chip and webtop os.
AT&T already has IPhones, SGS3, and HTC One X still costing $150-$200
They had the price reduced on the Atrix HD to get more new customers.
Also they cut back the hardware so it wouldnt take away from their Samsung & Apple Sales since those two companies seemed to be favored by AT&T.
That would have made a better product for consumers. Who cares if it makes their original phone choice harder. At&t sucks a big one period.

I for one had a love/hate relationship with my Thrill. Loved it at first....hated waiting for the updates....but over all the phone has been GREAT! I rooted, but kept the stock ROM. Just froze some bloatware. Recently updated to ICS...LOVE IT! I would like to root again to get Tethering and to re-freeze apps, but so the solutions I am finding are too convoluted for me. I want something as simple as it was to root with GB using Megatron Exploit.
My contract is up in a month. I am definitely considering the Optimus G. Not a fan of the S3 form factor. Feels like a toy and don't like the rounded edges.
I love my Thrill but LG and ATT seriously upset me when it comes to updating. And the tools necessary to to modify this phone are ridiculous. Not so bad now that I have tinkered with things, but it look a long time to figure it all out. This phone would be junk if it were not for the few brilliant developers we have that took the time to work around LG's crap. I will probably never buy an LG phone again. I want something with over the air updates and I want to purchase it from a company that actually concentrates on the phones that are already out. Don't even get me started on things like cases and invisishields which you can't even find anymore at places like Best Buy, etc.

Never never never!!!!
I will never ever get another lg phone. The device itself is not bad, the issue is the service from lg themselves. Its nonexistent worst support ever. Im def going to another company when my 2 years is up.
I don't think I would probably go with a samsung s3 or s4 maybe a nexus. I would like to have an sd card though so the nexus probably wont happen. I dont even know what phones lg have out so I do like this phone though plus for a 100 buck and no data plan can't really beat it.
I've never seen such a laggy device. It's bizarre.

They really had no say so in what happened with ICS.
Part of it was AT&T's wrong doing by cutting the contract with LG for a while. They had to renew it before any decision to release another firmware/software was developed.

Hello all;
i am about to buy a phone for myself and the atrix and the htc one s are my two options if the moto 'x' is not affordable by me. i wanted to know if the phone is any good. if i ask the question on any other thread some guy who has never used the device will answer the question. comming form the htc thunderbolt and a life-time of misery i wanted to also know if there are any serious problems with the device.
The only drawback I've had is night time photos. But I don't generally use my phone as a camera so yeah fine lol.

one more thing does this have official cm support
We don't have a official cm yet but we're close. We have a good amount of rom choices though. And the battery stock isn't the greatest, not the worst either. But I did the razr maxx battery swap and now it lasts through my 17 hour day every day.

Same way ya swap on an iPhone, unscrew the case apart and put the new one in.
The only problem with Moto Phones is the lack of updates to them, though that's usually the fault of the carriers, not Moto. That's where the scene comes to the rescue and provides us with more roms than we care to use.
Looking at the rumored specs, the X is nothing more than an updated RAZR\Atrix HD. Everything is the same, except no sd card (I really hope that isn't the case), a gig more ram, slightly better cameras, slightly faster cpu, much better gpu, same screen size, same resolution, same motherboard (msm8960). I also think we'll be running the X's 4.3 within a week or two, a month tops, of its release, they're that similar.
Whichever phone you get, you'll be happy.
Most of us here are gonna be getting an X by years end and will repurpose the Atrix as a glorified mp3 player, wireless nic adapter, portable streaming media center (VuDu, NetFlix, Hulu, Prime), etc.

Motorola (even in spite of being under Google's control now) will pull the same crap they did with the Atrix 4G and Photon: they'll keep saying "future plans" or "coming soon" or "we'll let you know" and then they'll just drop a bomb as they already did and say "if you want KitKat, go buy a candy bar or a new phone..."
Sad but more than likely true.
It really pisses me off since Google is pushing KitKat with marketing-speak that professes it runs great on non-top-tier hardware with as little as 512MB of RAM and a dual core processor, and yet with a device like the Atrix HD which covers that (dual core 1.5 GHz + 1GB of RAM) they'll just say "It's not gonna happen so get over it." I know in the long run it would be AT&T's decision whether to do it or not, but it's safe to say that no, we'll never see an official 4.4 update for the Atrix HD. Hell, I probably won't get one for my LG Optimus G either, which truly sucks.
/me hates it when companies do crap like that...

AT&T doesn't even factor into us getting stock better than 4.1.. We have more carriers than just AT&T, not many, but we do -- Atrix HD already has 4.1.2 stock, where AT&T Atrix HD is only 4.1.1. Also, rumor has it that AHD Bell is running 4.2....almost makes me want to flash Bell JB just to run a system update on it....almost. If someone does flash B 4.1.2 and gets an update, don't install it, notify us so it can be ripped and made into a rom first. Don't want to accidentally f**k yourself out of an unlocked bootloader.
Remember that as long as ANY device of the razr-msm8960 family gets better than 4.1, then all the other devices essentially get it.
I know I'm saying att personally sucks at updates as your post just confirmed lol.

To be fair to AT&T, Motorola is/was just as bad. Look at the Bravo, Defy, Defy+, Milestone 2, and a few other similar phones, between the 4 the biggest differences are 3 different camera modules, a hardware keyboard, the below screen button layout, and maybe some slightly different sensors....Moto released the Defy+, which is the exact same as the Defy only clocked to 1ghz and had the red lens camera module (OG Defies had 5mp cameras, but some had a red lens module and the other green, Milestone had red 5mp, Bravo green 3mp).
Now on the custom scene, Bravo and Defy use the exact same sources other than camera and, I think, some proprietary lib differences. Milestone is the same other than the hardware keyboard additions, and maybe some more...been a while since I've messed with that platform.
Bravo latest is stock froyo 2.2.1 (there is a 2.2.2 model around)
Defy is froyo 2.2.2 (there is a leaked 2.3.4 GB)
Defy+ is GB 2.3.6
MS2 is GB 2.3.6
All these phones could have easily been updated by Motorola, but its easier to not update them and make us get new phones.
Stock Bravo is the worst stock experience ever, and my first Android. Four hours in and I was rooted and on a custom rom, BravoX.
They all run CM10.2 thanks to Quarx and many other talented devs.
What's funny is I bet ya that more than half of XDA's members are here because of the Manufacturer/Carrier release fiasco that always happens. If they didn't want us messing with our phones then they should give us something that doesn't completely suck, like our Stock ICS...Other than TB, governor type crap, etc I could use that without root any day of the week and be happy with it.
