But it's useless compared to Dropbox.
Box.com has a limit on individual file sizes, and there is no decent cross-platform auto sync app
I already have 50GB (from a HTC), and I never use it...

Individual size limits increased from 100 to 250mb.
Unless you store massively large file sizes (videos?), I don't see the problem.
One thing also: Box.net's 50gb is lifetime, unlike Dropbox.

I'm more of a Dropbox person so I'll pass on this. If they'd done this with Dropbox, I'd be very happy.
Sent from my Nexus 4, powered by CyanogenMod via XDA Developers app.

sorry, but what is the exact procedure to get the 50 GB free from box.com ?
Thanks.

Just log in to box using Box application from Play Store in your Nexus 4.

done it last night and 50 gb for life time is very good...with N4 without SD. this is extra 50 GB...forever..lol

I use this with "Folder Sync" app to back up my phone photos once per day. Cheap and free - well worth doing!

Developing on an EeePC

I have been waiting for this darn Shift to come to a Vodafone here so in the mean time I picked up a couple of EeePC's (white for my wife and black for me).
I was surprised as to how well the thing works. It is ugly but once I slapped Windows XP on it it worked a lot better than the original linux. I stripped the XP down to get rid of all the crap with nlite and stopped it using a hibernation file and page file, put in a gig of ram and it is very snappy.
I am curious to see how it stacks up against the Shift. I will be amazed if Vista runs (or even walks for that matter).
I wanted this to program on in places I can't bring my laptop. It is light enough to carry around in one hand and the battery lasts just under 4 hours giving plenty of time to stare at the code.
I stripped down visual studio and msdn to the minimum that allow the coding I want and laboriously installed them one file at a time. This is because there is not enough storage space on the thing to perform a normal installation, instead each file must be used then deleted until all have been done. Its just lucky Microsoft coded it to give the option to find missing file without killing the installation!
I put on a bunch of other software to an SD card and val la - a fully functional computer. Here are some screen shots.

[Q] Problem with mobile data

Hi
I have a Moto G with the 2 sim slots occupied and my problem is this

As you can see, every 10 seconds I have an app using the mobile data. And because my provider rates each block of data of 100 kB, in a matter of days, it completely dries out my 500 MB plan..
Is there anyway of discovering what app is making this?
There's an app on Play that will monitor apps data usage called My Data Manager - Data Usage. It's free so you could give that a shot.
I've been using thay app, it tells me the usage, but my problem isn't the usage, because whatever is connecting the data plan is using a very small amount of data, but is doing that at every 10seg.
Is their any way to check how often one app is trying to connect to the internet?
You could try restricting the background data of apps until you find which one is causing the problem.
Yes, that is an idea. The only way to check that is on the 11th of the next month, so until then I'm open to new ideas to check what is causing this.
I too having the same problem. It consumed 2.4Gb+ within 3 days form the billing cycle. The data counter on my phone is showing only 260Mb. I have to wait till 10th of next month to check. One thing I notice is that location icon is active most of the time when I do screen unlock. I am going to turn off location in the next cycle and see if it help.
same problem here since update to lollipop
Same problem here. I just can't have mobile data enabled.
Anyone of you just found the solution to the problem?

Low on storage

To begin with, I tried searching forum for similar threads, found one that was asked on 2009.
So I hope its not against the rules if I ask here.
My Z3C is in constant low storage mode. If I manage to free ups few MB it is back again. I dont have that many app installed. I would say I have less than average.
I think mostly its cache that takes lots of space. For example com.android.vending takes 2.2GB That I have no idea why and what for.
Spotify is 1.5GB but I know why (music downloads).
Tried Drive Storage Analyzer that showed me what where but it was not able to free some space.
I went through app and tried clearing that cache/data manually but it seems like futile work. Photos are already stored on SD card same as non essential apps.
Is there reliable app that would help me out? Or another way?

com.android.vending is the Google Play Store, might want to try to clear all data + cache of the Play Store.
Also, the facebook app eats a big chunk, probably tons of stuff cached inside the app. Clear that too.
Are you rooted or not? Might want to try SD Maid, it can free up some space
easiest way to clear that problem would be a factory reset, as that would eliminate every data + cache on the device. Gotta backup first though!

Question Out of storage issue

On my S21 Ultra, I'm showing to be 98% full. when I go to look at storage, I see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, nothing much is showing up as using that memory other than the "Other" area. How can I dig down into the "Other" area and see what's there that I can get rid of?
In the event that it makes a difference, the model number is SM-998U1; Android version 12; One UI versoin 4.0; Security patch level is Nov. 1, 2021.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Just about any File Explorer in Play Store will assist in identifying the files.
Porn...guaranteed you have filled up your phone with porn
You got porn brain 4 sure!
Possibly items in secure folder. Let's say you have an app like telegram app in secure folder and it has been saving 100s of videos.
LOL!
Actually, I've used a couple of file managers, and I can see what's there, but it doesn't seem to add up. What I'd really like is a tool that would show me intalled apps, along with the amount of storage they're using, including their data and cache values.
Settings
Apps
Change sort order (Your apps .............. (sort icon))
Size
Lists apps in size order with size underneath. The size shown includes data/cache.
For example, my first one is Spotify 2.41GB which is mostly cache data as it keeps some songs on device
Thanks for that. I'll keep it in mind for later. Last night, I finally threw up my hands and factory reset my phone. I figure it'll take me about a week to get MOST of the things back the way I like them. In the meantime however, my storage is MUCH better than it was.
