This problem doesn't give me chance to install other ROMs or downgrade from update.pkg. I don't know what to do, please help me.

NVFlash Group again. If you still can't write that means you have gotten stuck in Read Only mode for which there is no fix other than sending it back to Dell
^ Can you brief me a little more about this? Thank you.

I think it is something to do with file permissions. Installing stock recovery might help.
I have installed stock recovery and this problem has not happened for about a week until I installed custom recovery.

hi guys, i had same problem, but then i set this sandisk ultra to my nokia xpress music and there was everything,,, my arc s cant open it anymore but nokia opens... try to reset your sd s to others phone...
It happened after formatting it with NTFS (it was a temporary thing so I can use it with one of Microsoft services), and my device is working and rebooting properly without any error messages..So what can I do now to make my SD working again?
(I don't really need the data that was on it, I just need the card to work)
Thanks..

try formatting the card from within CWM, i presume if you boot up the phone you can't mount/unmount it and subsequently format it from within Android.
but i would try fromating it as FAT32 from within Windows 7 first, NTFS is not supported by Android to the best of my Knowladge...
Thanks, yes I can't format it in Android since i can't mount it, I've already tried formatting it from CWM with no luck, it showed this:
Formatting /sdcard...
Error mounting /sdcard!
Skipping format...
Done.
And windows doesn't see the card at all when I connect phone to PC, so I can't use windows to format it too.

Try a formatting tool or recovery tool in My Android Collections

Turned out you're right, the problem is android not being able to handle NTFS properly, I tried to format external SD card with NTFS to see what will happen, and I had the EXACT same symptoms, but of course I removed from phone and had it formatted using card reader and it's working properly now with my phone..
xsenman
The problem now is that windows can't see internal card at all, I've tried one of format tools form the link you put, but it didn't help since phone "doesn't allow" windows to detect the memory, any other way to do it? right now I'm trying this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724078
It seems like it isn't easy to install NTFS support from the link above (since you need fuse.ko file that should be compiled for both your device and ROM), is there any kernal that support NTFS or any other easy way to do it?
If you are talking about your external sd just format at fat32. This is standard for sdcards and your phone wil reconize your card..
Unfortunately it is the internal one..

Finally, I found a solution, just do the following (I tried it and it worked):
1. First install the drivers ONLY if you haven`t already installed them, also if you have Kies installed there is no need to install these drivers, but you are better off installing these anyway : http://dev-host.org/ZRA
2. Download this package (it includes i9000 stock rom+kernel+odin) : http://dev-host.org/RAE, if you have a Captivate or a Vibrant just download a stock rom for your phone model and find a kernel which has root and cwm in it.
NOTE : The next step will require using the 3 key combo for accessing the clockworkmod recovery and also the download mode. The 3 key combo used below is for the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000. If you own a Captivate or a Vibrant please click this link and choose your phone model to see what 3 key combo must be used, as it differs from one phone model to another : http://tinyurl.com/6q6ajpx
3. After you have extracted all the contents you downloaded and installed drivers, put your phone into download mode using the 3 key combo : volume DOWN + home button+power button, keep those pressed until it goes into download mode.
4. Connect phone to PC via USB Cable and open Odin (windows should detect the phone and install some drivers, after it`s finished you should see the message "Added!" in Odin which means Odin succesfully detected your phone so now you are ready to flash)>check Re-Partition Option>press PIT button and browse for the s1_odin_20100512.pit file, press BOOTLOADER button and browse for the APBOOT… file, press PDA button and browse for the CODE….file, press PHONE button and browse for the MODEM….file, press CSC button and browse for the GT-I9000-CSC….file. PRESS START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.
• When the phone reboots into the rom, wait for the setup wizard to appear and then just use the 3 key combo into the download mode again.
Close Odin and open it again> press PDA button and browse for CF-Root…file> Press START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.

No need to do all this.
Just:
- remove external sd card (if you have one inserted)
- reboot into CWM-based recovery
- mounts and storage
- mount USB storage
You will be able to see and format, FAT32, the disk using windows

I tried your method, but selecting "Mount USB" was throwing the error i mentioned in my last post. Though i solved it eventually. Somehow i ended up in the phone's own recovery/bootloader menu, had an option of "Low level format" there. Took around an hour or so .. but it worked :good:
The name of the file in question is:
í/à=√f+ⁿ.bí£
Yes, that filename has a forward slash in it!!!!!!!!
How do I get rid of this file??
It is preventing me from running NanDroid backups, and I cannot format the partition (bizarrely).
I suspect the filename is corrupted.
If I run ls -il I do not get an inode number, just a series of question marks ?????
Have you tried renaming it and then deleting? Try also a different file manager if that doesn't work (Solid Explorer Trial shouldn't have any problem)
It can't be renamed unfortunately.
I have used a variety of android file managers with no success.
I'm rooted on CM10.1 and have tried CWM tools also.

Connect device as mass storage and delete from PC
still you can't delete it then install unlocker (attached here) to PC and delete with that
This should work otherwise
Last option copy data to PC and format internal memory.

Thanks Dr. Ketan
I can't delete from Windows or Linux on a PC.
The forward slash confuses both O/Ss.
I'll give the UnLocker a go, thanks very much for that
I've tried formatting through CWM and Android, it fails for some reason.

The unlocker tool didn't do the job I'm afraid.
And Windows would not format the partition.
I found a Windows tool for formatting FAT32 on large memory sticks.
Copied all the files from my internal memory, apart from the dodgy file.
Used the FAT32 tool to format the partition.
Copied all my files back.
NanDroid now works
Awesome

Hello.
I have exactly the same problem as you. Could you explain the way you format the partition? I tried with 3 different usb format tools but I cant find the way to format it from my computer, they dont detect my internal memory as a usb drive and I dont know how to do it
Thank you very much.

I had the same issue with multiple files not deleting. The solution I found was the following. I have Chasmodo's Asylym ROM installed, and its kernel has the TWRP recovery, and in advanced settings of that recovery mode you have the option to pick what you want to mount. I connected Note to my PC and picked Mount USB storage in TWRP, and the phone's internal storage was now accessible on my computer. After that, I just formatted it on my PC using the usual method: right click on the drive, Format, picked FAT32 and quick format. It cleaned the entire thing and the freakin files were finally gone. Do keep in mind that this wipes your entire internal storage.

Hi
So sorry I haven't replied earlier, I removed the subscription from the thread once I nailed the problem.
Basically you have to connect to the N7000 as a mass storage device.
There are different ways of doing this depending upon the Rom you are using.
This mounts the internal and external drive on the N7000 as drives in Windows.
Then using a FAT32 formatter you can format the internal drive.
It's that simple.
Take it easy.........FF

When I face these problems on Linux, usually I use " rm -i * ".
That is the interactive mode of "rm".
So basically the system will ask you to delete each file it founds on the directory. You'll answer "no" for each file except the one you want to delete.
The system should be able to pass the right info to the rm command (I think it will not pass the name but the inode) to delete it.
Please help me. it's been almost two weeks i'm having this problems. my phone is HTC Sensation XL CM10.1
the problem starts here, when i switch on my phone, it stuck on CyanogenMod, i restart my phone so many time but that wont help me, so what i did was i format my phone from bootloader.
so new problem appear again
I'm having problem with my EXTERNAL MEMORY. this is not SD CARD since HTC Sensation Xl DOES NOT have memory card slot. it's HTC Sensation XL 16GB.
my problem is everytime i enter camera and gallery, it says "No external storage available" then my whatsapp also cannot download images and videos. then when i go to storage, it shows only internal memory available, it does not shows the External one, it seems like the external memory is not inserted.
i already restart my phone so many times but still this wont help to solve the problem. then i go to recovery, then i tried to mount sdcard, but it said "cant mount Sdcard" then i tried to format sdcard but failed since the sdcard cannot be mounted.
then i try to connect my phone through USB to my computer, but i cant even read the sdcard, theres no notification that my phone is connected through USB. but its connected already. lol. so confused.
if i cant connect through USB, then how can i solve this problem? how can i flash a new rom? how to downgrade my phone since i hane read from most of the forums that the only way to solve is downgrade the phone to stock. but i cant even connect it through USB to put the rom.
im just telling this if this can help you.

If vold.fstab is correct, then there is no reason to use sdcard fix, all that does is correcting that value.

Don't worry, i think best way is to use from official Rom at the first. it will make everything solve, and your XL reset to factory options. Then if you want to use CM10, choose which one Ok for you phone.

Does anyone got a solution for this problem now? How do we get to the external memory now?
hello all ,
I have the same problem any solution ? or I have to use JTAG ???
did u flash or install some tweaks/mod/script?
I had the same Error
Hi at all,
I had the same error, but today my friend repair it.
At first, i will tell you what I had done:
1. I was on http://www.htcdev.com and unlocked my Bootloader
I've get this:
RUNNYMEDE PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.28.0006
RADIO-3831.16.00.16_M
eMMc-boot
Apr 24 2012,18:59:39
2. Then I had installed the Recovery
I had used this one
I think I don't have to tell here how I installed the Recovery with fastboot
3. Then I had installed SuperSU
--> After this I had startet my HTC Sensation XL and it was rooted
But after a time it was boring and I had downloadet the Rootbox 4.2.2 ROM and installed it direktly from the running phone with the ROM-Manager.apk
After that my HTC rebooted and for 3h I had only the RootBox screen, but after a time I opened the phone and reset it (Battery out)
Then it start fast in the Android 4.2.2 but then....
1. The phone doesn't show the SD Card under Settings
2. File Manager can't show you files on sd card
3. No USB connection to the PC
4. Recovery can't mount / format SD-Card
-> Softbrick
BECAUSE I FORGET THE "S-OFF"
!!How I get my SD Card mounted!!
(You have to install the HTC and ADB Driver on your System)
1.I had downloadet the XL Multi Tool and flashed HBOOT to S-OFF
-> Still no SD-Card
2. Then I had:
MOUNTS/FORMAT SYSTEM
MOUNTS/FORMAT CACHE
MOUNTS/FORMAT DATA
ADVANCED/WIPE DALVIK
-> No system anymore, just a withe HTC Screen
3. Then boot into Recovery
-> Connect your HTC SXL to your PC
Go to "mount USB Storage " and sty in this menu, now the PC have to format the SD-Card -> But please look that it only show you the 8 GB free space (SD-Card). I know that Windows can show you only this one but with linux it is able to format everything.
So i had formated the SD-Card
-> Download CM
-> Download Gapps
Copy on the SD-Card
Reboot to Recovery
-> Install ZIP from SD-Card
And now it woks (With my HTC SXL) I doesn't get the error "can't mount SD Card"
-> This was mot everything that I had done and try
(I had installed CM with adb and try to format it with the phone )
*Sorry for my english, i hope that you will understand it.
Greetings
Hi guys,
I turned on my phone and suddenly it doesn't boot (stays on HTC logo)
I booted into recovery (Using Team Win Recover v2.4.4.0)
My Vivid doesn't boot to any ROM (TeamWin recovery says no OS)
I can't mount my internal storage and when I try to factory reset it shows
"E: unable to mount /emmc"
"E: unable to mount internal storage"
The drive doesn't show up in Windows 7.
I did SEARCH and did the method of formatting the drive but that was doing only the SD card not the internal.
Internal doesn't show up at all.
Any help?
I read something about RUU, how would I do that?
Please Help, I have no working phone ATM.
Do a search in q&a (or general) for RUU, and you should find detailed instructions on how to perform it.
