I found out myself what i was doing wrong. I didnt move the apk files to the /system/app folder and installed them directly from the downloads folder, because i read that someone said it doesnt matter where you install them.. Also, I noticed that the gplay file is the most play store, and by installing the phonesky apk, it was downgrading my play store to the very first one, which was causing it to crash.
Thanks for the help though!

Okay so my problem is, i uninstalled Google Search via titanium backup, then reinstalled it via market...now my search button does not bring up google search and any other app that links to google search gets a FC when attempting to do a search...i did this with all my Gapps and none of the other one's are having this issue, im wondering if there is a way i can get the search app re-recognized by the system without having to reflash my ROM
Try integrating the app back into system using the Titanium batch option...

its not an option for me, the only thing there is Market
Use Root Explorer to look for the app in /data/app, and move it to /system/app, then rename to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk and reboot.

Pulled this off of the Kindle Fire HD thread, seems to work fine on otter2.
1. Enable installation of applications from unknown sources in Kindle Fire Settings.
2. Install GoogleLoginService.apk.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the Google Apps.
5. Start YouTube. Sign In. It will take you to Google Account Manager to create/use existing Google credentials.
6. Same goes for other apps. In case sign in fails for any of the apps (except Maps/GTalk) drag down the Kindle Fire notification bar, click on the notification for "Permission requested....." and assign required permissions.

Root and Gapps Working for me.
I was able to use the same Root Method that the HD uses to gain root on My Fire2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893838
After Getting Root I used this method to get the Market/Play Store working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893410
After I got both working I was able to install HoloLauncher HD. I moved it from data/app to system/app
and set the permisions to rw-r-r. A reboot gave me the option to select my default launcher.
I may not have a Custom Rom due to the locked bootloaders
but atleast I can enjoy a nice Android experience and use some of the Apps I purchased now.

What software version did your kf2 have?
If it was 10.1.3 I'm deff gonna follow your steps..
Yes I have the 10.1.3 update. I actually rooted it before I got the update and had to re-root the 10.1.3.

Awesome man, gonna start the rooting process now. Thanks a ton for sharing the info with me.
So.. if it's rooted and I still hate this thing, what are the steps to unroot and return to stock??
You can try this. Download the update and see if it will install back to 10.1.3

Firefox crashes except for 10.1 and 10.2 but the new firefox nightly works someone on another thread linked this dropbox file https://dl.dropbox.com/u/54456659/fennec-20.0a1.multi.android-arm.apk I tested it and it works
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app
I'm encountered the same problem with FF force closing after opening using version 17.0.
Once my Kindle Fire charges back up I'm going to try the nightly builds and if those don't work going to older releases from mozilla's ftp mobile directory.
Sorry I can't post a direct link - I'm too new.
Current setup is an unrooted KFHD 8.9.
Just looking for browser that will let me tweak an ad blocker and javascript to my liking.
I will let you know if any work.
---------- Post added at 09:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:05 PM ----------
Installed the current nightly off Mozilla's site - download was called fennec-20.0a1.multi.android-arm.apk - and so far so good even if it feels a bit laggy.
Trying to import bookmarks crashed it for me.

I checked my KFHD but couldn't not find any googleservicesframework.app (looked in /system/app and elsewhere). I tried both releases and nightlies (10, 18 and 19). None of them worked.
My KFHD is a rooted 7" model with the Play Store app installed.
Somewhat off-topic: Why does the Play Store tell me that Chrome is not compatible with my device? Does anybody know what it requires that the KFHD doesn't have without diving into the androidmanifest.xml file of the APK? Thx!

I've got a Kindle Fire HD that is barred from the Amazon Store. There are no "useful" Apps on like ES File Explorer that I need to install GApps Store. It's Rooted but I can't work out how to sideload the File Explorer.
Any tips or links to guides?
Thanks
Just use the web browser and Google aptoid market download the apk install it by simply selecting it then search for es file explorer or any other apps you need. you should also be able to root it and install play store.

Thanks! I've got Aptoide Market and ES File Explorer now. I don't like the Kindle launcher at all and ideally I want to turn it into a Nexus 7, or as close to it as possible, type of device. Any pointers to guides on how to do this? I've installed Nova Launcher from the Aptiode Market but can't figure out how to get it to run.
Thanks.
I run nova launcher as well it has to be made a system app which means you must have a rooted kindle
I believe you just find the file nova launcher apk named Tesla coil something. Apk and move it into your system folder.

Honestly though if I were you i would follow the install second boot loader thread by hashcode in the Dev section and then follow the guide to install. Cm
10.2 in the Dev section that is what your kindle is best suited for though since you don't have a fast boot cable you will have to issue a command to put your kindle in fast boot mode BUT if you goof you'll be ordering or making one for your soft bricked kindle
