My mothers phone is an atrix hd and this morning, we awoke to basically a dim blank screen and no ability to boot the phone. i never rooted the phone or did any type of customization or development on it. just basically wont work. any help would be appreciatied. also my pc is not recognizing it. i was hoping to find a way to unbrick it so we wont have to use our warranty plus the xmas season a phone is in high use. thanks
Does it respond to the wall charger?

I come to you all with a slight problem. I own a rooted Incredible 2 device and I'm doing great. My friend, however, owns a Droid 4. She went from an Envy3 to a brand-spankin'-new smartphone. She came to me for help since I pretend to know what I'm talking about.
Now the problem she's having is that sometimes when she turns her phone on, the backlight come on and the softkey lights come on, but the phone doesn't boot up. I've played with it a bit and after doing to reset method (hold down power + vol down) and it works every now and again but most of the time it does not work.
I'm hoping you guys can diagnose and help me out. Thanks!
I imagine you've already checked, but just in case and because the most obvious things tend to sometimes slip our minds...the battery is charged, right? If it shuts back down before fully booting, that could be it. If it just sits there partially booted, idk. Also, plugged in or not plugged in when this happens?

Haha, yes. I was going to add that in the original post but I thought it was too obvious. Uh, it might be partially booted? It's just the backlight and softkeys that are lit up.
Stock d4?... rooted... ? If stock I'm guessing you tried the basics like safe mode (hold "OK" button from moto dual core screen till it says safe mode...) FDR... FDR and safe mode without SD card... ? When booting or the attempt to boot where does it stop? Do you see the dual core screen... the DROID eye... can you get into the recovery menu?

No, just a dark screen.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Best bet is probably to have VZ replace it under warranty.

Hi,
I've been flashing a wildfire and hox for a while, having said that I'm no dev.
Last night my wife's phone went off and wouldn't come back on. The battery charge screen comes on but that's it.
It has not been rooted or played with in anyway shape or form, it is as it came out the box.
I've tried to enter the bootloader by pressing vol- and power button (as is done on the wildfire and hox) but nothing happens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Try replacing the battery, it might be dead

Thanks for the reply m8,
battery was charging wen it went off, buzzed then dead. But battery charging screen comes on wen its plugged in and says its at 100%. I've tried going into bootloader from the battery screen but nothing happens.
Wouldn't really mind, yes pain in the arse but we'd just take it bak to 3 n get them to fix it but she cracked the screen in her bag the 1st wk she got it n they'll only say it was that lol that's service for you!

Well, if its stock and not rooted, you should take it to the shop, its worth a shot

Will probably end up doing that.
It'll take a wk to get a battery off ebay, I'll pop it in the shop on Monday.
Cheers m8

OK so the weirdest thing happened just now. I was charging my atrix HD when I went on it to check a phone number. Then it started opening apps and going on xda then other apps. I had no control over it. I couldn't even turn it off. I had to do the power and volume down thing to shut off. It was very creepy. I was just looking for a minute while the person did what they did. It was like when a person from dell controls your computer if something isn't working right. At first I thought it was being laggy but no! It kept going settings were changed and the person tried playing music on it! I turned it off before he could but the wierdest part is that I had turned of my wifi and set my phone on airplane mode so it can charge faster. No communication what so ever. Right now its off and I plan to keep it that way until someone can tell me what to do to protect myself. Also this could have been happening before i went to go check my phone. Which was like 15 minutes before I checked it. Please help

Maybe you installed an app that had a RAT or some other virus in it

That's what I'm thinking. A bad app. The likely hood of it being hacked are slim.

What apps have you installed recently? And have you sideloaded any apps?

I'm guessing you handle it like you would handle a virus on a computer and just wipe everything and start over.

android is very hard to hack probably a virus delete data in cwm
Best thing to do is just wipe.
Easy way to do it is to go to Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset
It was probably a bad app.
Click thanks if I helped!

Another thing to be aware of is I've noticed Motorola's screens (at least on the Atrix models) are kind of finnicky. If there's a little bit of moisture around they just start registering touches on their own sometimes.
With my battery life being... less than ideal.. I find myself plugging into all kinds of chargers along my travels. Some non moto chargers make my phone go nuts, exactly like what was described - apps opening etc. Have experienced this several times. Feel the other explanations are possible of course but highly unlikely.

There was a story on the news recently that someone's iPhone was hacked by trying to charge at a public charging station. I would be weary of these charging stations.

Airport WiFi connections are VERY insecure. Basically they monitor everything that goes through. Text messages, calls, anything. Maybe they also have access to control phones?

I agree with above post non oem chargers can make the phone act funny especially the cheap dollar store chargers get an oem cable the you will know that it will work for charging and data.

Check the Desire C forums for installing drivers on anything on Windows 7 upwards, or if available use Windows XP
Have you tried to enter recovery/boot?
Hold Volume- and Power button and you should get some feedback (either it enters boot or nothing will show up)
If there's no response try without the battery in and plug in USB, even that I think should get some response, if not try key press and then plug into USB (plugging USB in first will try to charge battery immediately and ignore expresses)
LED doesn't really show up much even when charging, I think I've seen mine lit 2-3 times.

Tried all three ways and all possible way you can do it but after pressing volume down and power button. It hasn't shown anything? Do you think its a new battery? I'd rather not spend the money to buy one but if that's the only other way.

If there's no response trying to get any response (even just using No Battery, USB and power on) then it's probably damaged or bricked, take it back because it'll be the unit itself not the battery

Before you said I bought a new battery and found out today it didn't work. Is there anyway I can fix it because I'd love to start using the HTC Desire C? Hope someone can help. Thanks
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I wouldn't even consider it unless you have the use of JTAG and a fair bit of programming/electronics knowledge and to be honest, if it's not at least lighting the screen OR vibrating when it boots up (if it does boot at all ) I'd stick with taking it back and getting your money back, it could cost you more fixing it than getting a working second hand unit
Ok thanks for your help, I'll have to try and take it back. Thanks
