RAZR M rom on RAZR I? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if it was possible to use a RAZR M rom on the RAZR I because they are pretty much the same phone so I can use it on Verizon networks? Or would it be an issue due to processor differences?

you just answered yourself... it would be an issue because the processor...

Thought so... but since they are both CDMA and GSM would it work anyways?

And not only the processor: the Razr M is CMDA while the Razr i is GSM. So even if you got it somehow ported over it still wouldn't let you call and stuff because of CMDA vs GSM.

The RAZR M is GSM too... but its blocked for US Carriers...
The RAZR i lacks of the Snapdragon processor, that is working as the LTE radio too... but they must have the same GSM radio... both are quadband...

Razr M is GSM? Since when did Verizon switch from CMDA to GSM?????

Verizon uses CDMA but offers some GSM world capable phones... the RAZR m and RAZR i are both cdma and GSM. That's why I was wondering if I could use the RAZR I with Verizon.

Milestone good?

My dad is on Cellular South and looking to get a new phone. They have a Milestone with a slide out keyboard and I was wondering if it is a good device. Is the Milestone Cellular South's version of the Droid I am guessing?
Sent from my FroYo'd Hero via XDA App
The milestone is a great, although aging, device.
It is the GSM version of the Droid...almost identical.
But for a non-poweruser, the age will not show at all.
If your dad has any problems with it, just come back here and we tell you had to fix it

I am pretty sure this Milestone Cellular South offers is a CDMA model with a slide out keyboard, just like the Droid... not a GSM phone. A buddy of mine has a Hero with Cellular South and his is CDMA.

WIFI Calling on Atrix HD?

Does anyone have T-Mobiles Wifi calling feature on their Atrix HD? I someone got it on their Samsung Infuse which is an At&T phone. I'm switching to T-mobile so i want to be able to use wifi calling.
I've asked this question before and didn't get any feedback.
I would definitely love to have it if someone has it working, but I think the answer is no

I would think the best route would be to port from the T-Mobile s3 since it has the same chipset, but I don't know nearly enough to make it happen...

The thing about that is that s3 is on T-Mobile and at&t so you would have to flash the T-Mobile s3 stock rom in order to get wifi calling. There's no atrix HD type phone on T-Mobile.

Hm yeah. I just meant that if somebody was going to try and port it, the s3 is probably the closest configuration T-Mobile device to ours, considering both have MSM8960 chipsets, dual core 1.5ghz krait, and Adreno 225 graphics. If someone wanted to port the Wi-Fi calling app alone to the AHD, the T-Mobile GS3 would probably be the best place to start (again, I'm no expert)

Your right. Sorry. They would basically have to strip down the firmware and implement it as a zip. I really hope someone figures it out. Apparently right now there's a WiFi calling enabling method for non T-Mobile phones but its only for gingerbread and under.

[Q] Can a Verizon Moto X work on the T-Mobile network?

I have a Moto X that I purchased from Best Buy. I have Verizon. the Moto X is not activated. Can the same Moto X I have be activated on a T-Mobile account, can a TMO customer use it?
The short answer is yes. There may be some LTE issues depending on what version of Android is on the device.
There are few threads in the Droid Ultra section on this.

The Motorola site for the respective developer editions says Verizon version support LTE 750Mhz (B13) whereas the T-Mobile version supports LTE 700/AWS/1900MHz (B17/B4/B2). Doesn't seem like the VZW version will support T-Mobile LTE.

As far as I know, EVDO Rev B is not used in North America. Verizon skipped it going to LTE instead.
Moto's web site indicates the CDMA variant 2013 X only supports EVDO Rev A See -> https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/95871/p/30,6720,8696
I guess you could look up the FCC documents and see if EVDO Rev B is listed, but that wouldn't address if its enabled in the XT1060 software or not.
But some people reports they unlock evdo B by using dfs tools... How to use it ?? I think evdo B supported by our moto x and droid ultra hardware.. But need to unlock
.. Need some advice from you people .. Thanks help should be appreciated

Verizon Moto X 1st gen -> UK

So I'm a newb here, but I'm wondering if it's possible to take my locked Verizon Moto X 1st generation phone, and convert it so that it will a) be GSM unlocked, and b) will pick up LTE bands in the UK.

UK uses different bands. Doesn't this thread suggest it's possible to add different bands? http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
That is a phone with an entirely different chipset,

Sure, but according to that thread, it should work on any Qualcomm device, and someone had success doing that process on a Moto G, so I thought it might also work on Moto X.

My main concern is a custom ROM and kernel, is your bootloader unlocked?

I have done none of the steps, yet. Mostly I'm trying to gauge if it will be possible on a Verizon device since I didn't order an unlocked phone initially.
Verizon LTE device are sim free out the box so that is taken care of next step is rooting and roming
