On, I flashed overcome, and it gave me a new recovery. I then restored my stock ROM backup. It got stuck in a boot loop
Now I can't boot to recovery!! Help!!
I can get to download now, but how can I get to recovery? Please please help!!

Get the overcome kernel in .tar format, flash it via odin. You should get a recovery mode.
Or find a CWM in the dev section flashable from odin or heimdell.

I love you man. seriously. Your effort is really really really appreciated. I can't express it in words. Thanks a lot man, you're a legend!
So will this definitely fix my problem? So, flashing the kernel should also give me the recovery right? so from there, I press volume up and power, and will that give me the overcome recovery?
then do i just restore my overcome backup, and reboot, will everything be wokring as it should?
Thanks a lot once again man, you have really saved my pants, I feared the worse for my tab!
Btw, when I was on overcome, I never managed to nandroid restore.
Not bootloop, just the result force closes. And I had to wipe data and restore from TB.
Edit: kernel download fine from here.
Have you heard of the anonymouse site?
Sometimes you can use that to proxy.

Thanks! But once I have the Overcome recovery back, will my overcome backup restore? Will that work and be possible?
So once i flash the kernel, can i access the recovery by volume up and power? Can you confirm this please mate? Cause at the moment, pressing it does nothing, but i guess it is because i have no recovery installed, am i right?
cheers

Ok. try this.
If you were in overcome ROM, if you are on the SAMSUNG bootloop and get into download, you should get into recovery by flashing the overcome kernel.
if not we'll try something else.

So he won't get get his old overcome backup from the Nandroid restore?
That is strange but since I wasn't in overcome rom for long I trust you with it
If that is the case, then you may need to restock or reinstall overcome kernel.
Man, you are a legend!! Worked brilliantly!!
Got to recovery, just restored my backup, thanks for all mate, really really appreciated!

Glad it works buddy. Almost everyone of us here has been through these situations and I know how it feels.
Seems like it works for you.
It was strange that my nandroid restore always bad in overcome.
Maybe just unlucky... but haven't been on overcome for long.

Funny that you asked. I just bookmarked Priyana's ICS install instruction.
There is no official ICS for our tab and will never be. There is a value-pack update coming, a gingerbread with some ICS taste.
However, there are several unofficial ICS roms around. CM9 and AOKP-SGT7 being the most stable ones (although many people still have small problems with some stabilities and inconcistancies). am on AOKP myself - for the past 3 months - and happy with it.
For AOKP install instruction, refer to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27500461&postcount=5
you are halfway done through installing AOKP, btw.

Woo hoo, brilliant, I might try to install later on when I'm familiar with overcome.
Having said that, overcome was working brilliantly for me, but this morning, my device rebooted 3 time! After that I got random force closes, and now the apps won't load.
Is this due to the kernel being undervolted? Which app can I use to overvolt? SetCPU only seems to let me undervolt, not overvolt... Any suggestions mate?

Probably more like factory reset wipe needed.. if not worse, the problem priyana told you about earlier. On how restoring from an overcome back up may give you force closes on apps.

It was funny that not many people mentioned it in Overcome.
I think it is the CWM in Overcome Kernel that is the problem.
You can try RedPill 2.0.1 kernel.
In my experience the battery drain was better than Overcome, it works with Overcome ROM.
But I think it could be the nandroid backup that is the issue, meaning Redpill recovery likely won't help with backup that was taken using Overcome recovery.

Oh what the hell
I did a fresh install of Overcome yesterday. Worked fine.
Switched the tab on this mormig, and I got all the FC messages again, and WiFi won't turn on!!
What the hell is wrong????

Hey you need to get TWRP installed and then you should be good from there. Find the TWRP forum back a page then follow the instructions there. If you have never flashed a recovery before there are really good instructions in the CWMR thread. You might try flashing CWM first if you are a noob (I used CWMR for a while and it's a great recovery too) . Basically you need to get odin, and the adb drivers for your device. Turn your device off and put it in download mode (Power button and both volumes, then release power once it vibrates). Have odin ready with your custom recovery in the PDA slot. Once your device plugged in and in d/l mode odin will recognize it (if not you did something wrong).

Depends on what you mean by stable. While most features seemed to work okay, for me video play-back was horrible. Videos skipped and lagged. Since video playback is a major thing for me it's a deal breaker as it stands. I hope it in the future it gets fixed. Other than that though.. all was good with it
I heard from a thread that using rom manager bricks this phone if you have a partitition and I'd bought the premium version before partitioning my sd card, just want to ask, is this true?

Why would u use that - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942957 !!!
Go on CWM, its healthier for our Ace!
It has nothing to do with having a partition or not.
It bricks the phone anyways. Better remove that app, its dangerous if you don't know what functions of it can be used safely.

Mostly the motherboard i think, people reported that they had to get new a motherboard installed in order to unbrick it.
Hmm, that's confused me, I thought it would have broke it system wise. I know how to flash, root, etc, but I'm not exactly sure how they all work, but I thought that flashing just overwrit the system+os. So two questions, when you root/flash does that interact with the hardware in anyway and how?

Rom manager ... flashes new recovery ... with wrong mounting points ... making your phone useless it will be like having the light switch of your kitchen in your bed room and your bed room light switch on your attic ... know what i mean? Nothing will work !! Since the phone will change the mp to points that dont exist on your phone.
Just flash cwm from stock recovery or from odin and you'll be ok

Sent from my GT-I9305T using xda app-developers app
They are both good in my opinion, but there is one thing to consider. If you should have a bad flash of somekind that would lead to a non-functional touch screen twrp won't work because of the lack of hardware button compability.
Besides that twrp is very smooth as you can set backup names on the fly.
PhilZ is superior to both of them

Hey guys, I just installed nik's new project x rebirth 3.6 because it looked amazing!
So I wiped data
Wiped cache
I flashed the ROM
And then I Rebooted
I went through the setup everything was fine just that the slider for WiFi was greyed out and it says and is stuck on "turning on..."
I waited really long to see what would happen but no success
All I see it error
I kept trying and trying but no luck
I did everything from wiping data and cache
I reinstalled the ROM
And I flashed and ICS kernel I had lying around on my sdcard but yet no success.
BTW I did not flash a kernel when I flashed the ROM
I flashed an ICS kernel after wiping the data and cache many times thinking it would work
Someone please help! Thanks

Use 4EXT or ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0. V6 is only a port and therefore, there can be some bugs. I know that 4EXT and CWM 5.0.2.0 work. 4EXT is kind of like a modified CWM with extra features here and there. Its also officially supported.
I believe it is kernel related..

Kangaroo Kernel's WiFi works. That is a fact. If it doesn't work, then it might be recovery related where the recovery might not be flashing some modules correctly and whatnot. I used to have the same problem except with dla5244's port of TWRP. That is why I suggested OP use Official ClockworkMod or 4EXT.
Thank you guys so much
It was actually the the recovery
I flashed Clockwordmod v5 and it worked like a charm

No download ROM manager or 4EXT Recovery Updater (the latter may require a bit more searching).
As i've never really used ROM manager (nor would i ever recommend CWM over 4EXT), I can't really help you there.
For 4EXT Recovery Updater, you will need to wait a bit for downloads and stuff (roughly 5 minutes). After click install/update. Choose touch or normal (i use touch). Select version. It will download and then after downloads finish, it will flash the recovery for you.
