Maybe because you installed widgets on the SD card.
when you reboot , widgets are loaded before SD card is fuly mounted. Hence broken widgets.

Always install Widgets , Live wallpapers etc in the internal memory. Widgets may go to external memory if the default memory location is set to external. You may change this setting in cyanogenmod settings-->application

you can move by going to settings-->applications-->manage applications --> SD Card

Dear All
Can anyone suggest why an icon would keep getting deleted from the Galaxy Note Home screen after every reboot?
I have GPS Speedometer from Linxmap installed. It works fine but whenever I copy the shortcut icon to my Home screen, it gets deleted after every re-boot. No other app behaves this way. I have asked the dev but have yet to hear from them.
Could this be a bug in the custom ROM I'm using? Hard to believe as only the one app is affected but you never know.
Galaxy Note GT-N7000 + Ultimate N7000 XXLS7 JellyBean 4.1.2v4
Thanks in advance
Trevor
Is the app moved to the sd by any chance ? Find it under settings, manage applications.
Whenever I move apps to sd I lost the icon too
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
yes it has has to the icons moved to sd. The bug in the latest release of ics I guess has carried to jb now. Hopefully it will not be there in official release.
move to app to internal storage.
I can see the app info but not sure what info I should be looking for.
Total 6.39MB
Application 1.11MB
USB Storage app 5.12MB
Data 164KB
SD cad 0.00B
I have not attempted to change the default installation. I tried searching for the apk file but can't find where that is stored.

just below where it shows SD card , there is a Button.. it should say "Move to Device Storage".. does it ?.. if yes then press it,.and try the shortcut again.. else report back.
I've done that and it appears to work. The icon is still there after a re-boot. Many thanks indeed.
I've never messed with those settings as I haven't yet learned exactly what they are for.
If it's not too much to ask to ask, could you give a brief explanation of these two settings and when/why I would use them?
Ok, I can see that in the case of this one app, it was stored on the sdcard (which I thought meant the internal sd card of the phone) and for some reason this caused it to get deleted from Home screen on re-boot.
Having clicked on Move to Device Storage, I see that the app file has turned up in data/app and no longer gets deleted from Home screen on re-boot.
Sorry for asking dumb questions but many thanks for fixing my problem.

Some apps get directly installed to ext SD card. This causes the app to relocate itself after a reboot. Not only the homescreen shortcut but if the app is placed in a folder in the app drawer screen, it will come out and replace itself somewhere else. this has been found as a bug in the latest release of ICS 4.0.4 and seems its still there in the leaked JB version.
If used "Move to SD card" : all will store the data on external SD card. it wont be visible via the phone exolorer until you remove the sd and connect to a PC. You can use it for saving space on internal storage but the app icon will keep relocating itself.
That helps a lot. Thank you for your patience.

Just to clarify: The app itself is not being "relocated" on a reboot, the app stays where it was installed (SD Card), and you can still launch it by finding the icon in the app drawer.
The problem is that the icon shortcut vanishes from the TW launcher.
I have a work-around using Tasker, but I sure wish Samsung would fix this.

Hello people , here is a little way to increase internal memory in A_U LATEST TW JB ROM
1- You need to install both s2e hacked for cm10.1 (just search for it in the forum), and titanium backup..
2- with s2e you must just move the dalvik cache ... without setting up *mount as ext4*...
3- move all app 2 sd using titanium backup..
Cheers ! :good:
The only pb is that we cant use widgets of apps that we have moved to sd card ... if anyone have a solution

Hello,
I am a new owner of a S3 mini. I tried many differents tweaks to move my apps to sd card (including Link2SD) but none worked.
So I am now stuck with only 4Gb of Storage, my device is already full (some updates cannot be done).
So I was wondering how you guys deal with this storage limitation ?
Thanks
I have only 1 GB in use (100 apps)

No games installed. I use my PS3 for that

Thanks a lot, I'll check foldermount.
482 mb free
I have 482mb free on my internal storage , and I use ex. card but it's obly 2gb so I'm planing to buy bigger one
Finally I tested Foldermount : this is the only app I could use with success to move apps to the SD card ...
So thanks a lot for this information !
But I have one question : I could not find any tutorial about Foldermount, the only way I know how to move apps is to select the app folder and the destination app. This is not very friendly ... The S3 mini is for my girlfriend, I need something as simple as possible (she's not a geek ...).
On Foldermount there is a menu which displays all your apps, but when I select one, the buttons (source or destination) remain grey (unusable) and there is an error message saying something like this app may already be linked to sdcard ...
Is there a tutorial about foldermount ?
Is there a way to use it without the need of selecting each app folder to move ?
Is there a way to just select the app and ask to move it to sd card ?
Thanks

Foldermount doesnt move apps to external sd, but link folders from internal sd to external sd.
I still find it very usefull to link download folder and other things like GPS maps. You can also link those game obb files that get stored in your sd (Android/obb) and free up alot of space if you play games.
You can read the original thread here.

To my point of view, it does move the app to external SD as it moves files to external SD and then create a link in the internal memory to external SD.
If it wouldn't move data to external SD card, this application would have no interest.
The only problem for me with this app is that to use it, you need to know in which folder of your internal memory the app has been installed. It's not very easy for everyone. It would be better if when Foldermount shows the list of your apps, you could just select it and then move it to SD.
This feature seems to be existing but does not work for now. Maybe in a later release ...
Anyway, this is the only "move to SD" app I tried which is working fine with the S3 mini.

Thanks but I already tried this, it does not work : the S3 mini does answer correctly to the ADB commands, it says it's now configured for external storage (2) but when I install an app it still does it on the internal storage ...
Really, I tried many different methods, only Foldermount worked.
DirectoryBind with only one link: /sdcard/Android to /storage/extSdCard/Android
Device should be rooted.
Also, in DirectoryBind preferences you need to enable Bind on boot and Alternate dbase mgmt.
That's all you need. All apps data will be stored on external sdcard including cache of games.

The same can be done with foldermount, and it's still maintained with updates which dirictorybind isn't.

For what you need an updates of DirectoryBind? It does not need any update because it smooth and fully working. Atleast, on 4.1.2.
For 4.2.2 we need to switch to FolderMount or manually add mount to init.d
With FolderMount you cannot mount sdcard/Android, you need to mount each cache folder separately.
Maybe it is fixed already in latest version, dunno. If yes, then I will switch to FolderMount too =)
With "destination folder check" unticked in settings it works fine. Maybe it's a pro feature.

In reality nothing is copying, so I need to uninstall Foldermount to remove the link ...

Hello once again guys. I use external2internal app to swap between internal memory and sd on my XL and i tried using it on X2 but it does not work.
