How do you know that your phone is developer edition?...
That message might means that your FW is not from the country for what the phone was released.
I have a non branded european phone, if I flash the Indian version or the brazilian almost for sure I'll have the same message.
Try to recover it with LG Update Tool and you'll have the official version for the phone.

please tell us what version of firmware u have

all i know is that, is a code, a part of phone os that monitors and loads the os when phone starts. Unlocked bootloader means, custom roms can be installed like cyanogen mod, that boost up performance and it is a way to get latest android like jelly bean even though lg has not made one. Many saw a video running cyanogen mod on 4x but everyone told that it was a developer device. Only developer devices have unlocked boot. But we (even i) don't have unlocked bootloader. So, i think you should contact the developer currently working on it and ask if you can help him (if you want). He may get serious help from your device. Your can be precious if you really have an unlocked bootloader. So, keep it as that. If we get bootloader unlocked, we will smash galaxy s3 on benchmark. Our phone is beast but clamed down by locked bootloader by ******* lg.

For what I know, a dev phone is a big help if the firmware is v09x... V10C is useless, we have it too. From where can we take info about bootloader once the firmware was already updated??? Maybe thats why the message " Device not Registered yet ".
Just try to flash like everybody, using the "normal" flash methode.

Forget about your phone be a developer edition....
developer edition runs under v09x firmware, once that yours is already v10c (I think...) the transformation was done already.
Just use the normal methode to flash it.

Ok thanks I am now rooted
Can I not Unlock bootloader/install custom recovery etc?
Or change to EUR rom and do it??
Thanks again!!!!
now is unlocking useless for normal users ...because no custom roms / custom kernels .
LG released the soucecode this morning. So now its only a bit of waiting before the first custom roms will be released.

Not until you unlock your bootloader which, until they find a way to do it, can't be done in the 234-000 version.
Also, there are guides in this community, you just have to look for them (e.g. in the General Forum or the Development one). There you could have found answers for your doubts, as well as other people trying to get around the bootloader issue (there's even a thread dedicated to 234-000 users, and another for 262-000 owners).
Now we just wait my friend!

Well going by the fact that you have 234-000 You might not be able to unlock your boot loader as of yet.
There are 2 users that i know of from the UK that have unlocked their boot loader. I have tried and and tried again.
LG's Open source team have told me and a few other forum members that 234-000 and 262-000 are both unlockable.
The best bet is to wait for AGBRBK V20A... Which is the UK build of 20A.
Its just a waiting game. :good:

I've asked on LG's facebook and they stated there are currently no plans to update the P880g.
What really ticks me off is that, now that the P880 has an officially-unlocked bootloader, any work that was done over the past year to unlock it is now dead. Those efforts could have let us put our own custom ROMs on the phone.
I don't care if LG or the Canadian carriers don't want to put JB on the P880g, but at least unlock the bootloader before abandoning it to obsolescence.

Agreed. LG doesn't care, abandoned it in the Canadian market, only to focus on their optimus G. Too bad because I like LG's designs. Never getting another LG smartphone.
I just found some cause for optimism: LGE Canada stated this in a Facebook comment on May 21:
"Jelly Bean will be available for this device. You can stay updated at: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support-mobile/lg-LGP880G"
A link to the comment (apologies for being mobile): https://m.facebook.com/LGCanada/posts/10151924019794377?_rdr
This is particularly interesting since before now, LG had been stating there were no plans to release any updates. Something seems to have changed their minds.
Since my P880g is a developer version, I can't receive updates either OTA nor through the LG Suite (they don't accept my IMEI). So I have no way to check the availability of any update, other than checking the KDZ scanner sites. If anyone with a P880g gets a software update, please let us know!

I emailed LG Canada a while back, asking for any more info:
I'd like to know if an update to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) will be released for the LG P880G phone. Most other Optimus 4X variants worldwide seem to have the update available, but frustratingly the Canadian variant does not.
Most information found online suggests there is no intention to make the update available, however a statement made by LG Electronics Canada on its Facebook page claims otherwise (https://www.facebook.com/LGCanada/posts/10151924019794377). No new information has come out since, and one is left to wonder whether that statement was in error.
Any clarification would be much appreciated!

What really gets me is that they won't even outright say there will be no update. They're being intentionally vague. And now I have no idea why the earlier Facebook comment stated so clearly that there would be an update... I don't think lying would really be in their best interest.

Don't downgrade or you will likely brick. And don't flash other carrier firmware either, or you could have other issues.
Why would you want to unroot? If it's for warranty repair, There's no point... They will see you've unlocked your bootloader no matter what you do.

I'd just want confirmation from others that flashing the EU version worked for them first. If you flash it and end up with issues, you'll be stuck if there's no version for your device. Again, with no downgrading.

Is it possible to unlock the V40's (EU) bootloader at the moment?

With the LG V40 finally being in stores in Europe, does anyone know if the EU version is unlockable at this moment? Or is no V40 unlockable at the moment, regardless of region, SKU and simlock or simfree?
Edit: EU SKUs:
LM-V405EB
LV-V405EBW
Possible? Yes. Risky? HIGHLY! The phone is still relatively new to the market, from the developer's view. Let them fiddle with it a while. Better to wait for a safe way. The phone has SO much potential, so I doubt it'll be ignored for long.

Well in order to try you need the Device ID which is the "Fastboot OEM Device-ID" aka you need Bootloader Access just to try to unlock the Bootloader but most variants just reboot when trying to access it...so we need someone with access to that to try it

I've tried with my unlocked B&H V40. I even tried the page source edit that worked for the V30 a while back. No luck. It said that bootloader unlock was for the LG-V405QA was not "yet" available.
Interesting that is said "yet", so maybe it will be soon, I guess we will have to wait and see. Not sure why they make such a big deal about unlocking bootloader/rooting, I mean other than a few guys bricking phones, does root really cost LG that much of an issue?

But it's NOT supported! The LG Developer site simply lists LMV405EBW as being supported. It makes no mention at all of which versions of LMV405EBW are actually supported. In other words, their list is garbage and cannot be relied upon. How is the buying public meant to know if LG wont be straightforward about it and be honest? There is no official information from LG or anyone as to the differences between them. Which raises an obvious point. If LG can allow the 'European' version to be unlocked then why can't they do it for the HK or 'international' version as well?
I had naively assumed that LMV405EBW meant LMV405EBW!
It's not good enough and I have sent a pointed and direct email to LG, telling them to lift their game. Very frustrating.

Unlock the bootloader on the LG V40 thinq by demanding an unlock code from LG.

I now have an officially unlocked LG V40 thinq even though it is NOT on their official list of supported devices. I bought a LMV405EBW, (Australian version) naively thinking it was a supported device. To me, if it had the same model number it should be treated as unlockable. When i asked LG why NONE of their phones sold here could be officially unlocked but their 'European' versions could they couldn't provide an answer except say that my version wasn't supported. Nor could they provide any reason WHY it wasn't supported..
Eventually LG relented and provided me with an unlock code. Which raises the obvious question of if they can easily and quickly provide me with an unlock code why can't they do that across the board?

Okay, well here's what I'd suggest. If you run into problems wit that guide, post the problem in that guide. That way people who have done it can help. When you post you had an issue in some different thread, it's very possible that those that have had success doing it aren't going to read the other thread, and thus you end up with no help.
I can tell you I've done it, I know it works, but there are some hurdles you have to get over, like working with windows and qfil, getting windows and adb and fastboot to work, which means installing the right drivers for windows, which can be a pain...
but, the help you need is in that thread, not here.
I will try all those steps in thread & share to you soon
I could not find proper USB Drivers for LG V40 THINQ & I am unable to enter fast boot mode or EDL mode . Pls help me
What to be done to boot into android, I have unlocked bootloaders by using Qfil , V35 engine Sir.
