I have used both v30A and V30B. Major difference I have observed between these versions is " V30B is lag free as compared to V30A. because of no lag/less lag V 30B seems to be very fast and smooth. I recommend people to go for V30B instead of sticking with V30A.
I heard the camera is also better in vc30b?Tnx
I'm testing 30B in Italy since dec 25.
The boot.img (includes kernel) has different md5 then 30A, the bootloader is the same.
The test is not completed but I can say that the overall smoothness and performance are better then 30A, in addition:
the battery drain is lower, the camera seems to be better but I have to make more photos/videos, sd scan is a bit faster.
BUT I had two unexpected power off at low battery charge: at 3% and in screen off while connecting to the wall, at 15% while sending a whatsapp msg
On v30b, camera has options to disable sutter sound..

The shut off at 3% is normal, my phone shut off at 2% on V30A a few seconds after showing a message "Phone is going to shut off", it is to save battery from being damaged by a low voltage (lithium batteries don't like that)

Stock 30x are odexed roms, each system app has .apk and .odex files, is this ok? If yes I'll upload them late this afternoon.
Edit: I think that you can have only one version of this camera app, therefore you must replace the system app files you have already installed with these ones.

Help me with testing
30B has some serious bug in camera app
1. like when I press volume up and down to zoom in and zoom out instead of that it takes picture right away. Only way to zoom is pinch to zoom
2. second bug is like we cannot zoom during video recording mode. If I press volume up or down button it stops recording straightaway and pinch to zoom does not work here in video recording mode. Big mess
3. focus is not proper image are blurry all the time
4. takes lots of time to focus and click an image like say 4 seconds earlier it was much quicker in GB ROM
If anyone can provide a solution to work around this problem I will really appreciate it. anyone can plz PM or reply me after checking in their cell phone whether their phone is facing same in problem in 30B?

Thank you for this report. I repeated your tests right now
1. I like this solution
2. You're right: no dinamic zoom, you have to zoom before starting the recording (I don't remember that on GB roms you could do this, I didn't)
for 3. and 4. I need to do more tests but I must say that 2x never had good focus except in bright light, I agree that camera on GB roms was better. I'll compare pictures and video on PC before reaching a definitive judgement.
I think that, except for focus problems, these are not bugs but specific operative solutions.

but it is the only *.odex file in that folder?
both are in app folder and wiping dalvik cache and restart did not work, the camera app and icon are still missing.
i renamed the v30a CameraApp.apk so lets see if it comes back after restart

Hi all,
Update 30/03: Testing seems okay so flashable zip file for recovery added.
There seems to be a lot of demand for a silent video camera and I sometimes wonder if the motives are questionable but nevertheless, I aim to please.
LG have put security around the video camera sound files (these are in camera.apk/res/raw/ - camstart01.wav and camstop01.wav). They verify the file by name, id and most significantly a hash key. This means it is impossible to change the files without changing the code.
So here we have the modified Camera.apk with code changes.
No video camera start sound
No video camera end sound
Still camera sounds not affected
Sound file verification and sound trigger code removed, no code added
Download the .zip file below and flash it from ClockworkMod Recovery.
Download: O2xNoVideoSound-unsigned.zip
Please report back and I like the 'Thanks' button below...
It seems to work like it should, no beep when starting/stopping recording!
Thank you very much
works great thanks!

I tried flashing this through CWM and it ended up getting stuck in a boot loop. Had to restore my backup to get it to boot again. I'm running stock Android 2.2.2, Kernal 2.6.32.9, Build FRG83G and LGE version LGP990-V10d.
Any ideas why it's not working?

No, I don't know why sorry. It should work, it simply replaces one file.
In fact I can't imagine what could even cause the loop. To be honest I'd need to see a log to confirm what the problem was.
If you can get a log with adb whilst it's looping I'd take a look for you but of course this is effort you may not care to go to.
Thanks for the reply and offer, but yea that is a bit more effort than I think the silent video is worth at the moment. Hopefully nobody else is having issues.

Here is modded stock camera in su660 (aka optimus 2x in korea).
I couldn't test this with p990, but it will operate on your p990, maybe.
Please test this and reply.
Includes.
1. silent video start/end sound.
2. silent shutter sound. (select at setting/Shutter sound/tone 4)
3. silent AF sound.
4. supports only two languages. (Eng,Kor)
5. " only froyo stock rom or mcr."
Install.
1. Needs to root.
2. Rename system/app/Camera.apk to Camera.ap (Don't delete for undoing).
3. Must to reboot.
4. Just install this.
5. And reply plz.

hi,
i've made some tests with CM7 nightlies on my P970 (last #20) but i am not able to solve the sound problem. so i can not make or get calls and i decided to go back to stock rom V10C (branded P970).
with stock rom the response time of the camera is very bad, but was very good with CM7.
is it possible to replace the stock camera app with the CM7 camera app?
if so, how can i do that?
thx, nm

Maybe you can copying the app from cm7 to /system/app and reboot the phone. Install it won't work. Copy the original one to sdcard, if something goes bad you can replace it again.

I tried replace arccamera.apk in /sdcard/system/apps also I tried instal arccamera.apk, but nothing worked :-/
Try install the camera app using root explorer
-mount /system/app ro r/w
-rename old ArcCamera.apk in /system/app as you wish
-copy your new ArcCamera.apk to /system/app
-change permission ArcCamera.apk same as other apk in the folder

moreover, could anyone upload the arcamera.apk and the odex file to mediafire, hotfile, or uplaod king since I have just flashed back to the Froyo and have no back up for the CM7.
I am from HK and cannot use the Megaupload at all
Also, somebody found that the shuter sound problem exist while we can silent it by turn the volume down to zero, however, it is so inconvenient and wondering there is other means to silent the shuter sound
thanks

If you're talking about silent shutter sound, then I can modify for your application standard camera so that the camera menu was available to silent shutter. Also, I can remove the operation sound of the autofocus and video recording sound.
I flashed from #20 to #17 so I didn't try it yet.

the original ArcCamera.apk with no sound NORMAL shutting only on the stock camera is available here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165936
However, it still has sound for "continue shutting" option and the video capturing . I have no solution for it.
And, I tried to put the CM7 wonderful camera into stock froyo by renaming it to ArcCamera.apk and same permission and owner with the stock one. however, it doesn't work at all.
If you have any solution or even a WORK camera, please be kind to post it here

Doesn`t work for me, too. After rebooting there is no camera in app manager. By trying to run with file manager I get well known parser error. So I think the reason is simply the incompatibility between froyo and GB apps.

Hi, I am having an issue regarding the camera in gingerdx rom.
Whenever I capture two to 3 shots continuously my camera goes black and it remains black until I press home button and restart camera app, sometimes it happens with single shot also. Please help me I love this rom and not using it because of this issue.
Known bug, even listed in the GingerDX Bugs List & Solutions thread.
(X) means confirmed.
- Camera results in a black screen after some continuous photo shooting. (X)
Solution: Use another camera app, such as Camera ZOOM FX, 360 Camera, or if you need custom video recordings functions too, you can use MIUI Camera.

Yeah, I mentioned in the other revived post I also had this problem, and my ROM is FroyoPro v2.5. What's different with this apk to make the camera work properly and what is the cause of the problem? Would it work on Froyo?
Perhaps I should check this LG camera and see if the problem still persists there.

(NOTE) The 100% right method to install my camera.apk(to fix this permanently) in any rom is ->
In rom setup zip file(open with winrar) just replace camera.apk (system/app/camera.apk) with my camera.apk then instal rom (tested at all android v2.2 and 2.3 )
for gingerdx v31b it is working ...to test this in froyoPro Android 2.2+3
1) instal root explorer
2) go to location system/app/
3) mout from R/W to R/O
4) copy original camera.apk to ur sdcard at some safe place ( Do not mix my camere apk with this app)
5) Now copy (my camera.apk) and delete (system/app/camera.apk) then past (my camera file) to this location ..then inslal it also
then run ur camera ...
****(special case ....if after restart camera not running or capturing any photo ....then search and instal (camera.apk and GalleryDX.apk or gallery.apk) from location (system/app/) ...
then run camera)****
u will find the difference... now u no need to clear data of camera app in system/application.
****this camera.apk will not work for android v2.1 and 4.0 ,4.1 .....ics jb etc***
if u r not satisfied with my camera.apk (incase this is not working 4 anyone) then u can again replace the original file with my camera.apk then instal it ...after restart if camera is not capturing any pix then instal GalleryDX or gallery also

and after clear data first time .....u will face this prob in every 3 to 6 shoots

I installed this on CM10 PACman, and it works , bad thing is; now I got 2 camera apps and 2 gallery apps, also now BOTH cameras have autofocus... weird uh, or maybe the PACman rom has a camera app with autofocus?, I will reflash this rom and check first, then delete this camera and gallery then flash your mod. lets see what happens, I will also flash in the latest CM10.1 unofficial (new bootloader) and post my results (dual boot FTW!).

I did it on purpose to compare both cameras but I was naive because there was no way to tell them apart... and after re flashing the rom I saw the camera in the rom has autofocus, but they're far from the same, gallery app us the same, but the camera has different menus, a lot less options... unfortunately, I don't know if use yours or port the one in PACman rom to the CM10.1 unofficial for the new bootloader... the CM10.1 camera also has autofocus... but the menus and UI suck ass.
Good thing is it works for both CM10 and CM10.1
Maybe mivv uses default cm camera, rezip it, and set it up as default. Sorry if offensive.
when i was recording a video it was capturing nicely, then when i viewed it it was broken.

dont think cm's camera has that option enabled yet. you may try few things, like using iodak's ported stock camera app for aosp roms, or extracting the gallery2.apk file from a rom which has "save to external sd card" option in their camera (probably all 4.2.2, 4.3 and some 4.4 roms)
I dont see that option to store pictutes, too. I use DSLR Camera

On Vanir but...
it's the same for me. Ever since moving from Vanir 4.3.x to Vanir 4.4.x. At first I thought it was just an omission in the cam settings, but since then I've encountered a few strange things that led me to believe it wasn't (just) an omission in the settings. I use FTPServer usually to transfer stuff from PC to ext SD and it too can't write to external SD, then I went and tried with ES File Explorer and RootExplorer - all same. This all seems to me as it's an permissions (mounting?) problem and, since I see now it's not specific to Vanir, I'm inclined to conclude it's got something to do with KitKat itself. I'm going to try and find a solution, if I do, I'll bring it back home (here). Beware, I'm a total noob Android-wise, so if anyone who knows better sees this thread, please help.
EDIT 1: Damn, I'm a new user, so I can't post external links. I'll try and "describe" it.
It's at world wide web dot androidauthority dot com slash galaxy-s4-gpe-android-4-3-sd-card-fix-254960 slash
It seems to me that could be/lead to a solution to our problems. Will investigate and update.

it's the same for me. Beware, I'm a total noob Android-wise, so if anyone who knows better sees this thread, please help.

our external sd card isn't mounted as writable by default in kitkat. danny1990 has a fix in beanstalk topic, you gotta change permissions.xml file, really easy to do. the important thing is if there is an *option* inside camera app to save to sd-ext (if there is, your pictures will turn out corrupted untill you fix permissions.xml)
edit:
yeah, it's platform.xml, and the fix is the same as the one in that article.
Thanks
Yeah, I've just "fixed" the permissions in platform.xml and all the file explorers and the ftp server now work as before. Unfortunately, the cam app still doesn't have "choose storage location" option; it's obviously left out in the app. Thanks for your help, mate.
Also, if there's anyone on the new Vanir Nightly, did your cam app start lagging like crazy on the last two nigthlies? On 011714 and 011814 my cam is unusable. What's it like for you on CM? It takes about 20 seconds from "button press" to it taking the photo. Everything else in the cam app works without lag (focusing, change of focal point, settings, switching to gallery, between gallery and cam-view, between taken pictures... I'm to new to post in the development section, so if there's anyone that has a simmilar experience with our cam app on the latest nigthtlies, it'd be very nice if he/she'd post it in the Vanir thread. Thanks

try grabbing gallery2.apk from beanstalk, and using it in your vanir nightly; beanstalk build has a camera that supports choosing of storage location.
also, does the lag you get from camera happen only when you manually focus, or even when you just press shutter without manually focusing?
About the camera...

Thanks. Will look into it. (I've never disassembled an Android ROM, so I don't know what I'll find in the zip, but I'll gladly read up on it and learn).
EDIT: Tried the gallery2.apk from beanstalk, no changes. The option for storage location doesn't appear. Tried installing camera2.apk from the same ROM, but got denied with something like "the same apk already installed, conflicting signatures". There's also no change in camera lag.

Unfortunately it happens no matter what I do / how I take a photo (I've just tried doing it without focusing manually.). About 15-20 second lag. Also, I've just noticed that it doesn't record video. When I press the "rec" button, the timer starts counting, but the display freezes (not the whole display, but the "live action display" (displays what you're recording) and when I stop the recording after about 30 seconds, nothing is saved.
EDIT: I've also noticed that Instagram (unlike foursquare, whatsapp & facebook, which obviously use the "stock" cam app) takes photos in normal time frame, but that it also doesn't save the video. I press&hold to record, when I release, there's nothing recorded.
Hmmm, maybe official cm11 team derped sth in last nightlies. And my bad, you meed camera2.apk,not the gallery one, but first you must delete your original camera2.apk, then put beanstalks camera2.apk in system/app and set permissions like other apks have, and reboot. This is screenshot of beanstalks camera settings, notice the location is set as sd card.
Thanks. Will try that as soon as I'm done with work stuff... Maybe the Beanstalk cam helps. Thanks again
Sent from my Optimus 4X HD using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
thanks

Done as you've said, now both the front camera (that doesn't work in latest three Vanir nightlies - 19,18,17) and the "main" camera work. The lag isn't present when automatically focusing, but presents itself when using manual focus (manual focal point selection). Also, it now saves to external sd.
The video still freezes after a couple of seconds, the timer continues counting, but no video saved.
Thanks a lot for your help. I'll try and learn about logging and reporting bugs to the devs... give, what little I have to give, back to the guys who spend their precious time and brainpower for all of us. See you around.

lag is present in manual focus, yeah, hopefully that'll be fixed soon. if you don't want to bother, install iodak's ported official camera, it has working manual focus, and it also has save to external sd option. check themes&apps subforum.
video isn't working yet on roms based on unofficial cm11, and vanir official (like omni official, and slimkat (un)official) is based on our unofficial cm11 sources ^^
if you really really need video, try cyanfox or official cm11 nightlies, they have working camera, but at the cost of lower performance and some other bugs
devs already know about the issue we have with camera, so no need to report it (you can check cm11 unofficial/omnirom threads for updates about camera problems). good luck and enjoy :good:

Would you happen to have the APK? For the life of me I can't save it to my computer. ADB won't recognize my phone at the moment.

Awesome! You the man. I will delete the previous one from my System and move this APK there.
Edit:
Question.
Not quite sure what you mean by set permissions like other applications. Once I move it to the system\app do I need to do anything else?

yeah, you need to modify it's permissions to 644, or rw-r-r. you should be able to do that with most file explorers, i personally use root browser

Alright that's what I thought. I use root explorer to do so. I will do that once I get home and report back.
Another question. My wife has a Galaxy S3 and just updated to 4.4. This fix should work for her right? Lol I've only done the Optimus lines so I wouldn't know.

the 4.4 on her phone is cm11 too, right? if so, i recommend she downloads beanstalk/any other rom that has sd card option, but for her device, and extract it from there. you can try with the apk i uploaded, but make sure you make a backup

Absolutely. I will make sure she backs up everything first. She is on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487715 right now.

here's beanstalk for her phone, download the zip file, extract camera2.apk from system/app and replace it
