10 post minimum to post in dev threads -_- - Off-topic

Why don't you guys have like a user verification so users don't have to post random things to post on dev threats ? something like txt verification or something because i need to report a bug on a rom and i can't :/ :crying:

It's quite easy to get 10 posts in your device forums helping other people. Also it's encouraged not to post until you have 10 posts in Off Topic as well for similar reasons.

Because people just spam 10 posts then go and post in the Developer forum.
See here for details.

I left these because it's good advice and good reading. It really is not hard to get 10 posts by being helpful. Try it.

Because many people just sign up for a rant, a flame advertise etc etc.
The idea is that you have to earn your rights on here, at least thats how i see it,
I'm all for not having mass spam and random stuff, but what about those of us with questions that are pointless asking in forums we can actually post in. Like the dev forum. I posted a question in general so i could actually reply to it, it got moved to dev, and now I'm stuck with a hold and can't reply.
I would pm the mod who moved it. That sound crazy that a mod moved a question from general to development.

They don't let new members post links until after they have 10 Posts posted. This is to keep spammers away

10 posts...

...before posting in dev forums. Really?
Sounds like an invitation to spam.
There should be other way.

It must be the best solution for the time being, that's why the forum mods have implemented it.
There is always a start.
Go around general android forums and see if u can post some constructive comments.
I asked something for an app development reg api level support for a particular thing i wanted n some guidance if it was possible
n it was shifted to q&a....
Not that it was wrong but just slightly confusing...thought q&a was just surface level questions :-\

I'm sure with the search function if you really need help with an issue you can find something that's already been posted.
But yes it sort of does encourage spamming.

And despite his rule supposed to educate people to read and SEARCH by themselves before blindly asking, threads are full of posts asking for things that have been answered two pages before.....
yes, for newbies is really "educative"

ya it's true! with this limitation 60% of new account doesn't post more than 2-3 times xD
But we can send troll post to get 10 posts xD
How are you my friend? Problem?
Spamwise, this is already working. General Optimus 2x discussion, about the all-in-topic 10 post restriction on a thread which is stricly restrict to development.
Dev thread should be allowed to user-specific, so that only known devs should post there. Ofc with some rules like forcing the developers to create a feeback/reporting thread in the general. Or even creating a discussion thread.
dont get me wrong, but ffs, The CM7 nightly dev thread is stupidly and insanely filled in with spam, i mean, 9800+ posts on a development thread?

9800+..???
Now if someone gets stuck somewhere, how the hell do they search for it..??
Even in the General forum, there should be a locking system..wherein the thread gets locked after the mod feels the discussion has yielded a result..
Its actually impractical for someone to browse through 30-40 pages of posts trying to find an answer...
duplicate threads should be deleted and the creator of the thread should get the url as a pm..(u can write a script for it..not a hassle..)

There's plenty of threads about this in the "about xda" forum. If you'd read the rules then you'd know to search first and you'd have found the myriads of other closed threads about the subject.

How do I POST replies in DEVELOPMENT Forums?

I have an Atrix 4G and a fair bit of knowledge on it. These forums are really good, but it would be useful if I could reply to threads in the atrix development. I have answers and questions, but I don't know if I need to be approved or something like that in order to post in the forums.

Since you are past 10 posts now you should be able to post there. If it still doesn't work in a few hours, then you might ping one of the mods in that forum to take a look at your account and see if there is some issue there.
You need 10 posts to post in development forums, which you can find out more about by looking at the links in my signature.
The server only updates permissions periodically so yours may not have been changed yet, but you have the required post count.
I've had a look at your posts and you're not a typical "10 post spammer" that we see a lot of in here, which is greatly appreciated, but it's still worth a reminder about the following things.
Don't create threads in Development forums unless it's to release software. Questions go in either a relevant existing thread, or a new one in the Q&A forum (or General forum if there's no device-specific Q&A forum). And on that note, always search thoroughly before asking. Nothing irritates other members more than seeing the same questions asked over and again.
Anyway, just bare the above in mind and go enjoy the forums. I'm just glad I don't have to delete a bunch of pointless posts

Yeah man I just want to contribute. Do I need a "thanks" or something like that ?
Also can an admin "approve me" or something like that? My only other question is the five minute between post wait can that be removed? For example I'm just waiting now to send this reply, it's no big deal, just wondering.
Also I posted a thread here asking basically the same question, I don't know how to delete it, but here's a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783730

Nope, its not reflected by Thanks Meter. Just 10 posts is decent enough. For deleting/closing that Thread, you need to contact the Forum Specific Moderator assigned to that Forum.

At the top of each forum the mods responsible for that forum should be listed. I was suggesting to send one of them a PM, but Archer answered you here.
I got it. Thanks for the help I can post now!

I want to add to a development thread but am a newbie

Please don't spam xda to get your 10 posts. Part of the reason for the 10 post restrictions is to give time to new users to explore xda and all the resources that are available and to get used to making helpful and useful, contributions.
Thanks!
