Hi,
I just got a hd+ 32gb, I would like to add some apps from gplay. What can I do at this point? Do I have to wait until the root is updated?
Thanks,
Steve

I'll suggest you read the answer to my similar (ish) question here:

You'll need a 4GB or larger micro-SD card... then follow the instructions. I have GooglePlay (gapps) running on my device.
Be warned that I'm having about 80% success with "device compatibility" for software; Google Chrome doesn't appear compatible, Firefox or Dolphin browsers work fine.
Below are highlights of the incompatibilities for me; note that i'm not listing the many many others that do work.
Words with Friends works, Draw Me Something crashes.
The new Need For Speed works, Asphalt 7 crashes.
PvZ doesn't work; Doodle Jump does.
Etc

Also, to let you know, a lot of apps (e.g. Evernote) which show as not compatible when you look on google play, will work just fine when you sideload them. See Leapinlar's tips thread for more info on that, you need to get adb working.
Chrome Works

Chrome and all apps that say not compatible should work. Just download the .apk file then install them. I downloaded them from APKTOP

I just tried Chrome_18_0_1026320.apk but after installing that version doesn't work on HD+ 2.0.5 (not rooted after last update).
I didn't sideload but used Google drive to get the apk to the HD+ and installed it from there. Don't think that should make any difference.
Anyone has a different version working?
has anyone found a way to get google voice working?

I installed honeycomb last night but its quite empty, no apps? I installed it mainly for the "Books" app that I saw on Xoom hands-on videos. Where do I get it from?
Many thanks

I don't know that the Books app is publicly available yet. You can however install market and get plenty of apps (although some may not work on HC yet).
Just got my Nook Honeycomb'd w/ v3.0. This is going to be very fun!! ADB'ing my way to the Market now.
I believe you will want to install v3 of bluedeeper's honeycomb image or you will be missing a ton of apps from the marketplace. Not sure if this was fixed with v2 or not. I guess it recognizes the nook as a Nexus device or something and allows you to download more apps.
hey all, i have another question about apps in honeycomb. I am using the 2GB honeybunches version that comes with market preinstalled. All the apps seem to be there as far as i can tell. but whenever i go to download an app it starts downloading and then quits without downloading the app. i keep pressing yes to install but it keeps doing the same thing. Any thoughts?

Try opening market from the market widget and if that doesn't work, clear cache and data and force close the Google services framework and the market. Also a couple of revolts and retries got it working for me.
Also, make sure you are using v2.

Did a reboot and apps are now downloading and installing from market! Thanks for the help!
I'm not talking about the market, but rather this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGP3KKbDOKc "Books" app.
The HC on the NC right now is a "SDK Preview". It doesn't contain any of the apps that you might have seen Google demonstrate on devices like the G-Slate / XOOM Tablet. For now, you'll just have to wait until the XOOM is released, a system dump is performed and the APKs are liberated / ported from that dump. The only way it might happen any faster is a pre-release ROM leak. Even then, the release HC AOSP might be needed for one reason or another before they'll install or fully function. Renderscript for example (the new HC feature required for much what you've seen in the videos) probably won't work right away.
I just updated my NOOK app and it does not run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. Anyone else gotten the updated nook app that came out today running under CM7?
EDIT: Never mind. I cleared Data and then it was able to run. . . It does require a complete reload of all of your books due to a new architecture. . . so bear that in mind. . .
Hopefully this addresses the general crappy performance the old nook app had under cm7. I swear every other app I use works flawlessly. The old nook app constantly forced closes, is very insensitive to touches, and just plain old sucks. Eventually when you got it to load a book it is pretty stable but will still lose your spot every so often.
It drove me to set up dual boot stock/cm7. I am booting back to CM7 now to test the new version out!

agreed, not really impressed with the nook app, it does work though (newest update). irritates the hell out of me when it loses my place, i've found that the bookmark feature seems to work if I can remember to use it lol.
The only reason I use the Nook app is to show off to my little niece about the page-flip feature, that's all.
I read .epub using either Cool Reader or Aldiko while using Adobe Reader for .pdf.
How did you install the the 2.7 update? While the nook app shows up in the Market, there is no option to install or update. When I go to the web based Market interface, it claims that the nook app is not compatible with my CM7 Nook Color. I've tried the usual fixes like editing the build.prop file for screen density (160/161) and also to make the device/manufacturer appear to be HTC. No luck. I found a 2.6 apk that works fine, but have yet to find a 2.7 apk outside the Market. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Uninstall the market update and you can search it and it will have a download button.
I wish the nook app supported the "read to me" books that I bought and now can't use unless I put stock back on my nook. I'd like to also be able to read them on my phone or another tablet.

I am running into the same issue with Phiremod'd 6.3 and the B&N android app.
However in my case, once uninstalled (original was corrupt and would not work), returning to the Android Marketplace and selecting the app does not bring up a download button. Gives me all the info about the application, but no app download or uninstall.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? If it were windows, I'd say there was a registry setting left that was making the system think the app was still installed...

I have a quick question: is it possible to lock the old market down so it doesn't auto-upgrade. Every now and then, out of the blue, I fire up the market only to find that the app has updated. I can then stop the Market and uninstall updates. But it's a pain in the a$$ to do that over and over and over...
Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for that.)
Hi,
I find that some apps seem to be incompatible with rooted Nook HD+. These are NY Times app, Zagat and Yelp. Especially in the case of NY Times app, I tried even older versions, but no luck. Anybody has other thoughts?
Thank you.

Those same apps or Play Store just saying some are incompatible? If the latter, it does not mean they won't run, just that Play Store won't let you install them. Get them somewhere else.

Use Real APK Leecher to download apks from Play Store. You can create second gmail account and use your Android phone "device id" for this program if you wonder about your own security and anonymity.
Titanium Backup is what worked for me.
Looks like you need Titanium Backup, even though is priced, it's worth every penny.
You will need (like me) a spare rooted phone which had the applications I couldn't install in my HD+.
Watch this official video from TB, it will show you how it's done:
watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pZdqITHxCsM
Sv: [q] apps not compatible with rooted nook hd+?
ES File explorer let's you back up apps. (Or maybe you need Task Manager as well. Both are free anyway and open from within the File Explorer).
Much to my surprise both my phones let me backup and "extract" apps without being rooted.
I'm on the latest update. Google Earth starts up but then crashes.
Does it work for any of you?
Same here... just got one for my wife for mothers day (after confirming that Google Play store worked on mine when updated) and we have found that anything requiring gps or location access does not work or is "not compatible" with our devices. Google Earth, Google Maps, Fandango, Weather Channel, and countless others.
It is a shame, because I love the hd+, but hers is going right back if she can't get the first two apps she wanted.
Any ideas to keep it stock and fix the location problem?

Yes, go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a CWM bootable SD and flash my extras zip. It adds GPS permissions so those apps show as compatible.

I just reflashed with the 5/6 Extra. Google Earth works except when I ask it to locate me and it then closes. Other apps do the locate like Google Maps and streetview. It is not a problem for me, just a note for you.
And a big thanks for all your work on the Nook HD series.
@leapinlar
Isn't the 'extra' zip only for the stock ROM? I'm running into the same crashing with Earth in CM, and am wondering if there's any downside to having enabled GPS permission bundled into CM. If need to, we can use a fake-GPS app.

Yes, extras is for stock only. CM10.1 already has the GPS permissions XML in it. You could try removing it and see if that helps with Earth (or just comment out the GPS line in the file). It is in /etc/permissions.

Hi,
I'm really hoping someone can help or at the very least, put me out of my misery. My little girl loves playing Sims Freeplay that I downloaded from the Play Store onto my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7". So, we purchased a Nook HD for Christmas for her. After switching on for the first time, and loading the Play Store, Sims Freeplay didnt even appear on the Play Store. After searching through google it came up with the error message 'Your device isnt compatible with this version'.
After searching online, it was suggested that a rooted Nook HD would allow access to all Play Store Apps. So, I followed the root instructions on this site and downloaded CM 10-1-3 with all of the other relevant programs and installed. Everything went fine and I have a rooted Nook HD, great. Unfortunately, this has not solved the problem of Sims Freeplay. It still doesnt appear on the Play Store and when accessing it via Google it still gives the same error message.
Other users have suggested changing the LCD dpi resolution to 240 but this is the resolution already installed on CM 10-1-3. I have also tried changing it to 320 and 170 (which I believe is the dpi for the Samsung Tab 2 7") but with no joy.
Is there actually a way around this problem because if there isnt I would rather know as this was the main reason for buying my daughter her own tablet in the first place. Should I sell it and replace with a compatible device or is there something I have missed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot find a solution anywhere.
Stuart.
There is a way to get the game on your HD device with CM installed (through the 1mobile.com store), which I tried, but it would not run. It said it could not connect to the EA server and to contact customer support. You might want to try a different device.

One thing to try is grabbing the APK for the app from your compatible tablet and then sideloading it on your HD. I do this sometimes on my Nexus 7 for the Comcast email/accounts app, then move it to my HD+ and install it. The app I use to grab the APK is called "APK Fetcher" in the play store.
That said, the app may or may not run well on your HD, but it doesn't cost anything to try.
Oops, posted at the same time as Leapinlar (who would know better). Only other thought is: I wonder if the game would run on stock ? You can sideload apps on stock without root.

Seems strange, some people claim to have got it working by changing the LCD DPI which I have tried myself both up and down but it has done nothing. Do you think that DPI would have anything to do with why the device is coming up as incompatible?.
Someone else suggested installing a modded version of Play Store which is claimed to get rid of the problem but to be honest I dont really understand that process.
It's annoying that a tablet that I found to be inferior to the Nook HD (Samsung Tab 2 7") works perfectly but the Nook HD doesnt work at all (neither does the Nook HD+ for that matter I think).
Stuart.
