OK, let's make a military grade device

We have an Otterbox Defender (presented by uluvali)
Mugen 4800 battery (presented by Mugen Power Batteries)

I'm aware of this method:
http://www.pocketables.com/2011/01/...for-dell-streak-4800mah-extended-battery.html
I've decided to take a better(?) way - fit Mugen battery without cover at all.
You'll need to make this mod first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064959
Next, cut the back of plasic Otterbox back part so battery will fit. (I used friend's Dremel)
Make a space for pseudo cover hook as well.
Find a picture to put instead of logo (i used from Swisher sigarillos), attach it to battery print with transparent duct tape.
Assemble the case.
Seems to fit almost perfectly.
That's all.
Pics attached.
Is this working with Otterbox Defender and Commuter?

Defender - i stated it.
But won't save the screen

Has anyone been able to acquire a horizontal leather case for a Titan (actually a xv6800) with a 2400mAh extended battery? I ordered one from OrionGadgets.com via Amazon and it does not fit. While the case has elastic on the sides that will eventually stretch enough to fit the phone in, the top strap with the magnetic clasp is not long enough to properly stay in place.
Any help would be apprciated. BTW I am hoping to pay $30 or less.
Thanks

Body glove makes one that works for the xv6800 with enough room for the extended batteries. Found mine at a kiosk in the mall locally so not sure where to send you to find one.
Ditto. The body glove actually fit my 3500 mAh battery on the 6800.
Nothing really new here. I've simply modded the Body Glove case to fit the 2150 battery as others have done with other cases and wanted to show the results. The interesting thing about this case is that it's so beefy to begin with that the battery barely sticks out the back. The sides are also very well protected. The only real difficulty with this mod was dremeling the inside of the case for the hump on the camera cover.
What did you use to cut the case?
Sent from my HTC Droid Incredible
I used a dremel hard abrasive cutoff wheel. The edge of the wheel for cutting and the face of the wheel for creating the pocket for the camera bumpout. It needs a little patience, but wasn't too bad. I did nick the case a couple of times when I wasn't paying attention, so be careful.
I'm finding this mod interesting. I first had the body glove case on my phone but then got the seidio rugged combo. Seeing the size of the 2150 in relation to the bodyglove case i think it might be possible to make the 2150 fit inside the seidio rugged. The seidio case on the phone is about 1mm thicker then the bodyglove. So i might be able to keep the outer shell the way it is now and you wouldnt be able to tell the 2150 is in there. Gonna have to get a 2150 and see what i can do.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Just promise to post pictures if you pull this off. My original thought with the Body Glove case was to remove the plastic inside the back of the case leaving the rubber outer layer to stretch over the phone. There was ultimately too big of a hole in the back of the case for various clips and attachments to make this worth the effort, but a case that would actually fit would be nice.
Asked easecase on eBay if they can make a case for the streak with extended battery. This was their reply:
Please just buy this item and fill in the details below:
#. Item code: EC-D2-DELL-Streak
1. Outer leather:
2. Lining leather:
3. Closure:
4. Back:
5. Personal words engraving:
6. The thickness of the phone with extended battery: 18mm <<<

HOPE MY MEASUREMENTS ARE ACCURATE .. I measured 18mm .. Anybody have a measurement ??
Easecase will make cases to your custom measurements for any phone. The reviews I have read of their work have been very good. I ordered on for my Streak that is large enough for it to fit with the Otterbox Impact case on.
When I get the case and the phone I will do a write up.
I have a case from a few phones ago. I don't remember which phone but it came with their case. I love the way it feels. Love the hidden magnets .. When I sold that phone, what ever it was, I kept it and use my iphone in it ...
Is there a case that fits with the inductive battery cover? I have the case/holster that has the built in kick stand (not the body glove one, but the one that will fit the extended battery as well) that is at Verizon stores. I had a semi rigid gel case but it wont fit the inductive charging cover. I really liked the look and feel of the case, plus I like how it protected the ends of the phone unlike the hard case that I have now.
anyone??? help!!
nothing yet????
nothing at this moment hopefully soon. Im looking for a case for the extended battery besides the ugly shell case and holster combo im straight.
Yes
I saw one at Best Buy yesterday. Black in color, under 20$. For standard battery. Can't remember the brand.
Nevermind. It was not for the inductive cover.

but will it fit with the inductive charging cover? Withe the charging cover the phone is a different shape, here in-lies the problem.
How big a difference is there between standard cover and inductive charging cover?
The back is flat, there is no more camera hump.
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has found a solution for fitting a decent case over these phones with extended batteries. I only found that zerolemon gives a decent case (still not as rugged as I desire, but better than no case!) but I would prefer to go with a extended battery that is not as bulky such as mpj or hyperion. Any suggestions on getting a good case or am I doomed till hyperion or mpj releases one (probably never?).

I don't think you'll find a magic case that will shrink existing matter into a smaller space. The larger capacity demands a larger battery that is not going to be smaller or form fitting to a phone not initially designed for it. It will have to be bulky by definition.
The zero lemon option at least is boxy and rectangular. The other options are lopsidedly large at the base. I personally am going to add a tpu case over my mpj battery for added grip.
i didnt even realize extended batteries were still made. isn't that too bulky?

I saw this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZAK1GAS/ref=psdcmw_3081461011_t1_B015XBS45I?th=0
and ordered a clone off eBay. Getting here tomorrow, will let you know how it goes. Not willing to use the super slippery back that comes with these extended batteries!
Do you guys think my g4 with a mugen battery and door, could I put one of those metal or hybrid bumpers on this?
Doubt a bumper would work. There is usually at least one part of the new back that alters the dimensions of the edge. The zerolemon one makes the whole thing boxy. The one I linked to above changes the whole lower 3/4th edge.
If you did your own 3d printing of a new back, and only had a pronounced lump in the center, potentially you could.
Case for extended battery
I use an otterbox on my G4 with 6200 ma battery. I leave the phone back off, cut the back out of the otterbox where the battery would hit and then just stretch the rubber over. It tucks into a groove in the front half and works great
I use Hyperion Extended battery and Hyperion TPU Case, and i do modification to add NFC feature on Hyperion
You can see on my attachment. White TPU Case too easy to get dirty

Does the Hyperion TPU case have a lip in front of the screen? Any chance you have a pic of the front with the Hyperion TPU case?

The case I got off ebay which is the same as the Hyperion one does have a lip, thus making the front very similar to many TPU cases.
