[Q] Update Samsung Galaxy s3 i9305 to official 4.1.2 firmware? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

When the Galaxy siii got an update to 4.1.2 I flashed my Galaxy S3 I9305 LTE To Android 4.1.2 XXELKC trying to put on ofhe one done by audism. Now Im trying to put on official 4.1.2 firmware. I downloaded it and tried to flash it. It didnt work. Any help would be appreciated

we'll need a bit more info.. how are you trying to flash it? what file did you download (filename)

1. Install Samsung Kies
2. Reset flash counter with Triangle Away
3. Update device using Lies
DONE!
Well I am probably forgetting something but they are the basics
Also OTA updates requires an 'official' phone status rather than 'modified' so make sure to reset the flash counter if you ever want to use OTA

Hi,
I bought my phone from eBay and it seems to be Hong Kong based (I9305ZHALI2, build number I9305ZHBLJ1).
I found and downloaded 4.1.2 firmware from sammobile: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=8156
It is now on my phone's external sd card as tar.md5 file. I also rooted my phone using ExynosAbuse: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
I have a Mac and so cannot use the Odin, but it seems that MobileOdin should do the trick, if I just flash the firmware using the downloaded firmware.
Am I correct in thinking these are the steps to install this update?:
1. Buy mobile odin pro
2. Flash the firmware without wiping data. I read that wiping data while updating official rom could brick my phone.
3. If I want to be able to get OTA updates in the future, should I leave the root options in mobile odin unticked? Or just update all future firmwares using the same method?
Thanks!
EDIT: I flashed the rom using mobile odin lite and it went ok, but the firmware was the same I already had, 4.1.1. So it seems that sammobile has a wrong version number on their website. Damn.

Okay so I downloaded the official firmware off Sammobile firmware: GT-I9305 Hong Kong 2012 November Android 4.1.2 I9305ZHBLJ1 I9305TGYBLJ1
And then I tried to flash it via recovery mode. It kept coming up E: Can't open /sdcard/I9305ZHBLJ1_I9305TGYBLJ1_TGY.zip(bad). This was using clockworkmod recovery v6.0.1.9. I tried extracting it but it only came up with 2 files and I didnt want to risk it. I want an unrooted version of 4.1.2 thats official.

You must unzip the File and flash the unzipped file via odin3!

hi i want to update my gt-i9305 network ee-orange running 4.1.1 i had notification in kies wen i linked phone to upgrade firmware, the problem is my computer hasnt got the specs needed to use kies, IS THERE ANY ALTERNITIVE METHODS?? i want 4.1.2

They are only recommended specs that Kies should run flawlessly at so I advise using Kies still
If I am not mistaken 4.1.2 official hasn't been push out by out on most carriers if any at all so it may mean modem firmware in which you should always update, well if you want optimum network performance anyway

maybee ? Why don't you upgrade it on microsoft site or windows update ?
Or flashing an official firmware via Odin (and reading tutorials) might work just fine, if you get the firmware file (not allowed yet to post external links sorry)

The .net framework isnt a hardware spec but should actually come pre-installed Vista and up but just google it and install! It may also be on windows update

[Q] accidently bricked SGS using Odin

Hey Guys,
I hope this is not a complete repost
I have a samsung Galaxy s i9000 and i installed a custom gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM yesterday, all worked fine, but was unable to receive phone calls so i tried reflashing my phone to see maybe it was installed incorrectly.
Im not able to get into recovery mode but i am able to get into download mode.
So i installed Odin, and a .pit file that someone recommended. earlier i downloaded a .tar file that was compatible with my phone.
Everything went fine and it said it was successful, but im now stuck on a black screen with nothing but download mode.
My question to you is:
What files do i need to download inorder to get it to boot, and then allow me to flash to a gingerbread version on android.
I have a 512.pit file, i just need all the other odds and ends like a PDA, phone, CSC files.
Please please help me.
Thanks you for your time.

[Flashing] I f***** up, help needed.

Zup,
I rooted a while ago, and since i'm running Ubuntu i haven't managed to get CWM yet, so i noticed that i can use Odin Mobile Pro to do it so i installed it and downloaded the correct kernel. I opened OMP and browsed to find the kernel on the internal memory but i can't choose it (it's a .RAR-file), so i extract it to see what's hidden inside. According to Odin i can flash "zImage" so i do it. Big big mistake.
The phone won't boot now, and the only thing i get is the "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000.
What to do?
Thanks in advance
I can enter Download mode, and that's it. Some help here please?

Where can i find a stock ROM? And do i need ADB installed or is it OK with the drivers from Kies? I'm asking since i'm using Ubuntu so i'll have to use my brothers PC, so i can't install a freaking SDK.
Got a stock ROM now, downloaded the ADB files and Odin, so i'll see if that works..
You should just try to read a little more
Kies drivers should be fine. Go to the development forum and you will find stock roms thread.

Just make clear, LA4 wont Root directly, n looking to sequence, you are going to flash it with PC Odin. If i m correct

Yeah, i noticed this when i had downloaded 300MB of LA4, so i didn't bother to stop it and select a rootable ROM I just wanted to get my Note working again. But i'm already missing root like crazy, so i think i'm gonna downgrade and root it again very soon.
Edit: Wait a minute.. I was rooted, i messed the phone up, flashed LA4, booted up the phone, nothing got wiped but i lost root.
ya it is nonwipe version so even with PC Odin, you won't lose anything BUT just ROOT
Aha!
But if i choose to flash another ROM with PC Odin, will i get the triangle at boot? Do i only get the triangle when i flash unofficial ROMs like CM9?
I'm a little unclear on these parts.

hmmm jvkt1 was my previous firmware
Samfirmware lists 2 rom with JTK1 code, for Morocco and for Turkey......
anyway .....
I use the same firmware and I have no particular problems to boot, but I flashed the full version.
The only thing that comes to mind is related to the fact that you used the firmware without the bootloader ..... maybe something did not work well ....
Did you wipe before flashing ?
I guess there are a lot of cache files to be loaded everytime..
And that usually happens with Stock ROMS..
just flash a custom ROM dude..

try to reflash your phone with full version firmware or you can use one package of firmware XWKTN.

Try do reflashing with other firmware. If the device works well with other firmware, then reflashing again with XWKTN. It should be works fine too.

I believe I was trying to download a new CWM with odin. I'm not sure how to use a factory reset and wipes as I can't use anything on the GT, as it is stuck. As this point I am hoping that the new IC firmware will be available through Kies.
I can still use Odin from the PC through Kies, though.
Thanks again!

Does Odin recognize your device? If so you can flash the stock rom from sammobile.com. You need to extract the .tar.md5 file from the zip. Use 7-zip to do that

Again, thanks for responding...
At this point I'm afraid of "Bricking it" before I can have a chance to update the firmware to IC. Hopefully that will be soon.
I really don't know what I am doing, and I have already screwed it up. The GT Honey Comb is working fine, but I can't do anything to upgrade it, internally, as everything is stuck within the GT!
At one point I was trying to upgrade to Jelly Bean, but now I'm just hoping to just get IC. If I can get the IC downloaded through Kies, I'm thinking that the new firmware upgrade using Kies will take care of things. What do you think?
I guess I can live without Jelly Bean.
But I'm willing to give something else a try, however, I would need detailed, step-by-step "For Dummies" directions on what I should do; and as kind as you are, I wouldn't want to ask you to do that?
Kind regards,
Golf Educator
Hi. Don't be scared of losing your device. Will try to walked you thru the process.. just to be more clearer. Can you write down all your device info such as current firmware that u r using? And also do tell us the region ( im XME -Malaysia) because sometimes not all the stock rom can be use to upgrade..
You may need :-
1- kies(for drivers)
2- cables
3- charge your tab to 80%
4- windows/os of ur pc or Mac
After you post all of the info. I or we will try our best to walk you thru the process

Okay, here we go... let's shoot for Jelly Bean!
Model number: GT-p7300, that has wifi with G3, European Version, as I work with the US military at RAF Lakenheath, England, and bought it locally. I am in the London world-time zone. Five hours earlier than EST.
Android version: 3.2
Baseband version: P7300xxkj6
Kernel version: 2.6.36.3 (Original when I bought it, however i did root it) [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 23 13:54:01 KST 2011
Build number: HTJ85B P7300XWKL4
I'm using a PC HP Pavilion with Windows 7 with Odin 3v1.85 that does turn yellow when used.
The Kies on my GT works, but the Kies on my PC for some reason doesn't recognize the GT. I believe the Kies drivers are loaded, ok.
I am using the original Samsonite Cable.
Now you know more about me than my wife does...
Thanks,
Golf Educator :fingers-crossed:
Sorry for all the questions, but it's hard to diagnose all the problems from a distance. It sounds like when you tried to flash cwm something messed up the tab. But if it still turns on you can probably get it to work again. Kies is a crapy program so I always use Odin. When you plug the tab into Odin does the com in Odin turn yellow and show the port?

Ok, that's good, Odin is working and now we can get you up and running. Let's try on thing first, can you to recovery mode? Hold the power button and volume up button down, when the tab responds let go of the power button but still.Hold the volume up, then a second later let go of the volume. This should bring you to a menu where you can do some wipes and a factory reset. (I don't remember exactly what's there) IF you can d o wipes try that first. If that doesn't work then try the factory reset (do you have any data and pictures, etc you wantbacked up?)

Hi,
I'm in the United Kingdom and bought the GT in England... It is the GT-P7300 with wifi and 3G. The IC hasn't been released for the United Kingdom, yet, but it should be out in a few days.
I also think that my Odin is working... but the Recovery Mode is the internal problem that I mentioned with the GT. That is where it is stuck saying that it is loading (but it is not loading). At this point my problem is because of that I can't get to anything and can't do anything in the Recovery Mode with it stuck in that frozen loading effort... including wipes, factory resets, etc., it just keeps on saying that it is loading!
Thanks, again, I appreciate your interest and effort!
Are you trying to use cwm 5.5.0.4 that's in the 8.9 development forum stickies? I would 're-download the .tar version again and try to reflash it with odin. You'll load it in the PDA section and only have the auto-reboot and f.reset checked. Don't have anything else checked. Your first attempt could have been a bad download of cmw.
If you're currently rooted then will have to do something different in order to get the OTA ics when it comes out. I just got it for my tab a few days ago. You'll like it much better than hc.

OK! I think I've made some progress...
I was able to get clockworkMod_Recovery_v5.5.0.4.tar from androidjinn.com. I was also able to get a connection from Odin as it turned yellow. I loaded the PDA with the .tar as you suggested, and started it. It passed! Now I have a CWM that works. Afterwards, using it I did a Factory Reset.
Now, I have a newly installed hc and a working CWM. But, would you believe that the Downloading Mode is still stuck on loading. Do you think when we flash a new ROM that it will reset the reloading correctly?
I feel pretty proud of myself! I think I am ready for Jelly Bean...
How do I do that?
Sounds great. I've been running jb for quite a while, but frankly I'd wait for the ics. Runs just as good and it's stock. Never thought I'd say that until I tried it.

Two questions:
Which system will enable the GT to be used as a phone?
How do I root my newly factory reset hc so my aps work?
Thanks
I have an i957 tab which is different than yours so I don't have an answer to your second question. To root your device see the stickies in the tab 8.9 development section it should be as easy as flashing a zip file thru your recovery. Make sure you get the right zip for your specific device though. Otherwise you can brick it. The biggest mistake people make its using a file for a similar device rather than one for their specific device.

Good work so far! Now you just need to download the rom (.zip file) and gapps (also a .zip) for the rom you want to use. Put those on the sd card of your tablet. To do this you may have to "mount external storage" in the cwm menus. Once you get those on there, do a full wipe, and then install the rom and gapps. That should do it for you.
To be honest, p7300 can only make calls via root and using cm9 custom rom. Will try to help you mate!! Sorry for late reply..
But just to make it easier, the 1st step is to use stock 2.3.6 that can be installed CWM 5, after getting that. You must download the custom cm9 rom and install into your internal memory(as i can recall all cm based rom will update your cwm 5 to 6 in the process). Will give you the link and try to resolve your probs!!
This is what you will need :-
Download Gt p7300 XEU stock 2.3.x ROM(search via filecorp)
Odin
Pits file
(all this is just in case that you need to flash it back to stock)
Will update my post in a short period of time!

Note to gulf educator: if your going to install a custom Rom, cm9 etc., you don't need to root first.

How do you mount external storage?

Charging issue

Hey guys, little bit of a problem, hope you have some ideas.
Basically, My phone has decided it wont be charging anymore, the battery charges fine in my wifes N7000, used 3/4 different charges, all work fine with hers, none which work with mine, looking inside the charging port, it appears to a little burned, theres an area which is quite black inside the port.
So, the phone is rooted and running a lightweight LSZ leak, its not returnable to samsung (and likely, my insurer) in this condition, problem is, if the phone isnt connect via USB, I wont be able to flash an official firmware via ODIN to remove the rootage.
Is it possible for me to perhaps flash an older firmware through CMW and then try and update OTA to remove root, or, am i destined to charge my battery from my missus' phone from now on?
Many thanks!
if you rooted why not use mobile odin to flash a stock firmware..

Yes
Edit: also read thoroughly as you already have the link there are few things you would require to install for the lite version.
Under default settings of mobile odin, it will remove root. But before you go about uprooting, make sure your counter is set to 0. If no then you will need to use triangle away app and it will need root access.

Thanks guys, I already run the triangle remover when i first rooted my phone and the counter is still at 0, plus i am rooted. i notice in the instructions there is some flash kernels, will I need to flash this first via CWM before using mobile odin or will Philz kernel be fine for me?

It is an apk file.
I think for the lite version you will need to download the odin flash kernel first. Just follow the instructions. The paid version automatically downloads it.
Thanks again guys, one final question then, if you was returning your note to the Samsung centre would you use the kies GB, ICS or JB official ROM? Considering making it the JB, what do you think?

Edit:as long as firmware is for you country and samsung has released Jelly Bean in your country.
Luckily the Netherlands has LSZ so that's what I'm going for tonight, thanks for the help gents!
