So my phone was working normally as It should when all of a sudden it turned off.
There's this icon in the status bar next to the time that shows a percentage of how much life my phone has left I think.
But then it started flashing red with an x inside at 2% I got so scared! Then it happened, my phone turned off. What do I do now?):

Are you serious with this question?
From what you say here I can understand that your battery went empty and your phone turned itself off. Which is perfectly normal..
Off course it won't turn on again if the battery is empty.
Maybe try to charge the phone?
Edit:
If that doesn't work, remove the battery for a while (1 minute) or try to turn on the phone while in the charger but without battery.

just put in the battery and charge for an hour at least. Your battery is empty.

Your phone have the devil inside.
It will be hard to recover it...
Thats because you don't have an anti-virus, Xmas ghost is attacking lately... I fear for your phone!
You need to find an exorcist as soon as you can!

I use the dock at night, so they mean the same to me. The point is I have the phone on my nightstand, and I don't want it to shine into my eyes.
I would advise you not to charge the battery over night. 2/3hours of charging is enough charging it longer is only bad for your battery.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Right, but I can't really set the alarm for three in the morning just to take it out of the charger.
Don't worry about charging it overnight, it won't cause any harm, and if it does, it's their fault, and hey should fix it.

When the battery reach 100% the charging process will stop to protect the battery, and when the level go down to 90% it will start to charge again.

Enable stamina mode and don't whitelist anything? Only notification then would be missed calls and SMS.

That doesn't work as stamina mode gets switched off whilst charging
If you don't mind flashing CM ROM there's an option to turn it off, change the color at certain level of charge, etc.
Maybe you can disable the LED while charging with LightFlow?

I wonder if there is an option in the build prop?
So far I have managed to get the NFC icon working by editing the build prop...

Hey guys need some advice here. My one just recently hit 120F the other day and now that's a norm when charging. (screen off charging) Also, it will not charge even overnight, after about 6 hours the battery went from ~14% to 64% and the led was blinking red, battery indicator did not show that it was charging.
What can I do on my end? I know I'll probably have to get it replaced but I just wanted to know if there's anything else that will fix it.
Thank you

Try charging with the phone powered off. I know this might help cuz you need your phone on but it's the only option. After that send it back.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Blinking red while charging means the phone is too hot to charge. Wait until it cools down and try again.
You can also try a "battery pull" by holding down the power button while the phone is on until the capacitive button lights start blinking and keep holding it until it turns off. Temp sensor might be stuck.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yeah ill try doing it powered off. It's weird cuz that's how I always charge it, but hey its hitting 100F ambient temp here so maybe that's it. My phone also gets super hot when watching a video and can drain a full battery in about 1:30 hours

Might try a battery stats app and see if something is running away on you. I occasionally use opera browser and found it would kill my battery really fast with the screen off if I didn't actually exit out of it - can't ever leave it in the background. Maybe you have something similar...

Had around 67% when I went to sleep. Forgot my charger at home as I was at my girlfriends, so I turned off the phone. I woke up this morning to see my battery at 23%! And while writing this post, I accidently turned it off again and now my battery is at 8%
Whats going on!?

Umh, you have the fastboot active?
And, the phone was hot?
Possibly android was reporting the wrong battery status when you turned it off. Charge your device to 100 percent then turn it off and on again without the charger plugged in. If it reads below 100 charge it again until it's full.

Yes, I had fast boot on. Searching around I turned it off. Didn't think that would cause such a drain...

Hello everyone. This is the third day I'm having the following issue: I turn off the phone at night with 50% battery, but when I wake up the smartphone doesn't boot, saying that there's no battery anymore.
Someone else had this issue?

wakelock detector. download from play store. and of course next time 1st search then ask
Do you turn it off completely or just lock it? If you shut it down then its quite strange, if not use the search function as mentioned above.

read please. he turned his phone OFF completely. there are no wakelocks then xP
OP, it might be a faulty battery. try to get the battery out for a night, put it back in the morning and check the status
lol. its obvious that he just described it wrong. u cant switch off the phone and lose 50% battery. he means he turned off display. the phone was supposed to "deep sleep". if he had it really switched off and lose 50% battery then he wouldnt ask. he would already know that his battery is dead and would kiss it bye bye....
if you look at his battery diagram, it kinda shows it was turned off, then turned on and it was on very low battery level, so i think he described it right. lets wait for OP for further info on the issue ^^
I shut the smartphone off. I'll try to check if this problem comes back having removed the battery, as suggested.

Turn your phone off, take the battery off at night and check how much battery you lose when you put it back in, the next day.
I think its just a dead battery, look how fast his battery drained down, it can't be simply wakelocks. My phone doesn't lose that much battery even with heavy gaming.
Anyways, google how to reset battery stats it might help or I don't know.If that doesn't work just replace your battery.
I thought yesterday that this wasnt possible.. Tonight, this happened to me...
I turned my phone off with 63% and in the morning I couldnt turn it on.. When I turned it off, the hardware buttons were on for a couple of seconds... So maybe the phone got stuck on some frequency and drained the battery.. Very strange... Will pull out the battery tonight to test some more.
OK i tried to remove the battery. Everything works fine. So the problem must be something related to the phone or android. I think it's the second one, since this bug happened to my friend as well, but not with this frequency.
Sent from my LG-P880 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It must be a problem with ROM, some bug that keeps the phone from shutting off. It must be stucked on some high frequency to drain so heavily!

This 2% per 5 mins is when the phone is in standby mode ?
then there is some crap that is eating all your battery.
have a look at the battery usage and see what is using the battery most, in my case it's exchange service -- i cant do anything there because i use email app to get my office emails.
please reply with the app that is using most battery.

Looks like your battery is dead. This phone is the most power-effective phone I owned since Motorola Defy+, it can hold any abuse and still has juice at the end of the day.

And then you've either installed some app that keeps your phone constantly awake, or killed the battery immediately by discharging it to 0. That's the only 2 explanations.
Right now I'm 17h on battery at 50% remaining, and screen as the top discharge reason with 32%. My father, who doesn't use the same phone extensively, routinely charges it once in 2 days. You should have screwed up something really bad to cause this phone not to hold charge.

Could be killed battery. This app won't do anything bad, I believe.
Might also be something reception-related, but I'm not sure if the reception is good/bad or if your carrier does/doesn't support fast dormancy and to what degree does it affect the phone.
