Has anyone tried using an usb otg cable with our phone ala galaxy s2? Do you think it'll work?

Yes, it would work, our CPU supports that
The only thing we need is otg wire like sgs2 one or buy sgs2 otg host wire that is easily available for abt 5$
And kernal otg host enhancement ( may be Napster can do it )

I am trying to include that too. But currently its not there.

waiting for USB OTG on spice mi-410 (ideos x6)
I am dying to activate usb otg on my Spice mi-410.
I have downloaded the Mi410_v3.18D_kernel_source_2.6.32.9.7z & Extracted it and found that there are several files for USB OTG code
Mi410_v3.18D_kernel_source_2.6.32.9\kernel\drivers\usb\otg\otg.c
Mi410_v3.18D_kernel_source_2.6.32.9\kernel\drivers\usb\function\msm_otg.c
So i hope this device supports the USB OTG and someone will find the trick to get it work
Napstar , am waiting for your reply
So still needs 'something' to make it works? Not OOTB?
Realy looking forward for this feature
First post and a new x6 user too

Hey Napstar any progress on OTG ???
I am fully aware that you can get a Official PS3 control pad to work on Android.
Using the USB method of contecting devices does anyone have a USB gamepad working?
Edit: If so which gamepads?
You can simply connect via Bluetooth
USB not Bluetooth

He's talking about using the OTH method, rather than the Bluetooth method.
As for any working, I have no idea, since I haven't made an OTG setup for my tablet yet. It's on my to-do list.

Yes I am talking about the OTG method. In my current location I really struggle to get anything so any advice on what I should buy to play games?
After checking all the threads I could find for those using various OTG setups, there do not seem to be any game controllers working that way. BT is going to be your best option here and there are several game pads that will work well with the touchpad.

I'm not sure specifically about the TP, but on my Nexus S, as long as you had ICS and a kernel that supported OTG, then there were a number of game pads you could use through OTG such as a wired 360 controller and some Logitech ones.
You can check the link in my sig for more info.
I'll try and test this out on my TP sometime this week when I get a chance.

I try to connect my phone to my samsung tv through usb port as hard drive and i only can see the external sd. I cant find internal. I am on rocket rom 10 with notecore. Please help, i dont have the samsung wireless lan adapter so the i cannot connect it through dlna.
It would be easier to get a MHL adaptor and just mirror the phone on your tv.
Ebay/amazon have a load available you shouldnt have to pay more than £10, I think mine was about 7 including p&p.

Have you tried to install "Multi Mount SD-Card" app from Play Store and in settings choose "Mount SD 1 & SD 2"? =)

Is the USB OTG implimentation a full implementation?
Does it just support mass storage devices on USB2, or can you do anything USB with it like attach a USB2 hub, and then attach a keyboard, mouse, vga adapater, ethernet adapter etc.
I realize that appropriate drivers would need to be available in the kernel for the specific devices, however the key questions is the low level support.
One of the frustrations with my Galaxy Note is that OTG only partially works, like for mass storage, however the OTG USB driver doesn't seem to support USB1.0 or 1.1, and I can't seem to compile working drivers for the ancillary devices mentioned above, so I was hoping the T had a better support.
All I know is I have used Xbox remote and mouse/kb ABD also Mass Storage

I am thinking about getting the raspberry pi and load xbmc onto it. I will probably be buying a WiFi dongle. How do I exactly setup up the WiFi for the pi? Do I need to hook it up to an Ethernet port first or no?

Fortunately it's pretty simple to set up the WiFi on the RPi, all you have to do is plug the WiFi dongle into one of the USB ports and then connect to your wireless router WiFi network through XBMC and you should be good to go. You shouldn't have to hook the RPi up to Ethernet first to get internet setup. My other recommendation would be to check out this guide if you run into problems http://elinux.org/RPi_Peripherals and this list of WiFi dongles that have been tested and verified to work with the RPi.

Hi,
Setting the WIFI dongle up is fairly easy you will need to load XBMX onto your PI and boot this up with the ethernet cable attatched. Go to settings and find the PI's IP address. Write this down.
Plug your WIFI dongle into the PI also.
You will then need to download a program called PUTTY onto your pc or laptop. You should start a SSH session on the IP you have wrote down.
Login in using username:XBMC Password:rasperry
Once you have done this go into settings and find WLAN. Click on this and put the the SSID of your internet service provider and your PASSKEY. then end PUTTY.
Reboot your PI and hey presto your WIFI dongle will be working
If this helps please hit thanks. If you get stuck I have a youtube video with the SSH session on XBIAN (same thing) just PM me
Peace

So it is not required to book the pi up with an Ethernet cable first if I understand you correctly right?

Yes thats correct. Boot the PI up with the ethernet cable plugged in, obtain the IP from the settings in XBMC. Then on a pc or laptop do the putty SSH session using this IP and log in and enable WLAN and input the SSID and Passkey
Hope this helps
Also if I plan to use xbmc do I have to buy any licenses? I am confused about that as well. If so which ones?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Hiya. I believe if you use raspbmc which is a Linux distro there is no licensing, same with xbmx and xbian. I Do however believe you have to buy mpeg2 licenses.
Hope this helps and best of luck maybe post a pic of your finished pi project for us all to see I'm still tinkering at the moment but I would recommend a powered usb hub it has been my saviour the past few weeks.

Oh and something else that is awesome if you go for a xmbc raspbmc or xbian openelec etc.
Download an app called yatse. (for the record I bought the full version) this allows you to control the pi with your nexus I use it all the time just scan for the pi once your wireless working and do it from your phone haha

What exactly does the mpeg-2 license allow me to do exactly?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I didn't buy any licence and I have no problems playing anything. It would all depend what format your media is. Most of my stuff is h264 aka mpeg4. I don't think I've even ever seen a file encoded in mpeg2 as it is older and less efficient then current standards

So if I am just streaming stuff off of xbmc plug-ins like 1channel I would not need the licenses?

I doubt it. If you find you do have issues you can always purchase the licence at a later time

If your looking to install Hulu on XBMC I would recommend taking a look at this guide, it involves mainly installing the Bluecop repository. For getting Pandora working I would recommend taking a look at this guide here.

You actually don't have to make the edits you can download the .zip file containing the edits already made for you here. Once you have downloaded the .zip file extract the contents and place them in your addon folder.
Suggestion: go on eBay and search for "ew-7811un". Save yourself a lot of headache and BUY ONE lol. It's an Edimax wifi dongle. It's tiny, and works with Rasperry Pi right outta the box, no setup required. You'll need a wireless mouse just to pick the router and enter your wifi password, etc.
Another suggestion: get a *powered* USB 2.0 hub, and plug it into the Pi. Use only one of the USB ports on the Pi, for the hub, don't use the other one. The Pi is severely underpowered, and the USB hub will solve that for you (if it's a powered hub, of course). Plug the wifi dongle and the wireless mouse into the hub.
Final suggestion: get the OpenELEC distribution of XBMC for Pi. It's AMAZING, especially with the ACE skin (which you can download right from the Pi in the Settings menu after installing - see attached pic). The only downside is that OpenELEC is a locked distribution, meaning you can't add repositories that are not listed as "add-ons" via the gui itself.
What I have is the above, plus a large external hard disk connected to my network via my internet service provider's wireless modem. Basically, it shows up as a network drive on any device connected to my wifi network. It allows me to download (ahem, I mean "purchase") movies, music, videos etc through my laptop, directly onto the network drive, and then instantly play them via the Pi as a SMB share.
Hope this helps.

anything with artheos chip should be fine, there are good drivers for this kind of dongle
You could also while on Ethernet download the Wifi Tool in the Raspberry XBMC repository and then you have a GUI for configuring your WiFi device within the XBMC interface as long as you have a supported adapter.
I appreciate all the responses about the wifi dongle but I have already solved that problem and got my wifi to work.
