USB Jig Dongle - Galaxy Note II Accessories

In case anyone is wondering, I bought this USB Jig Dongle from EBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300738858103 and it works fine with my Galaxy Note II LTE.

Does it just boot the phone into download mode and not reset the counter as the ad says? I tried mine from my E4GT in my Note 2 and it didn't do anything other than boot to download mode too. It didn't reset the counter, although the Triangle Away app leaves my counter at 1 also.

It just boots into download mode, no resetting of the flash counter.

the jig only allow you to easily booth into bootloader mode, and nothing more.
I have this one that I got for about USD 0.16 dirct from china.

The jig is a convenient way to boot into download mode. Even with soft brick. If you catch a hardbrick though it wont work

I needed this for my Note II, unfortunately I can't find any 100k ohm resistors in any electronic shop near my place so I tried 6pcs of 50K ohm resistors but still it won't work. =(

So far it seems the jig is up for me with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II because every which way I've tried to use my thing-a-ma-jig on this phone, it hasn't woken it up from its coma. But I'm not giving up! There's got to be a solution for a hard brick!

Somebody on here has a couple of jigs for like $15. I made one for about the same price. It's easy and necessary if you are going to flash and have a newer phone. It works every time.
Try this. Open the one click odin 3 (the jh6 stock rom version). Unplug the battery. Plug the usb cable in and press both volume buttons and the power button. Put the battery back in and as you do that release the power button but keep holding the volume.buttons. this should put you in download mode. Good luck.

it is possible for the screen to be black and still be in download mode, i had it happen, and reflashed via odin on a black screen, odin still saw the phone so i said what the hell and click start, it worked successfully. so try th meathod above and dont be discouraged if the screen is still black.
also re download the stock rom and odin downloader. it may have been a corrupt file that caused it.
if those dont work buy a jig. pain i know but what else can you do? do you have insurance?
This is an weird problem that I think is fairly rare. I freaked out when this happened. I was able to get all the colors of the rainbow to appear on my phone. It happened to me 4 or 5 times before I finally managed to flash to stock. I just pulled the battery sd and sim every time it happened and flashed again. The phone is not bricked just keep trying and it should work

[Q] Is replacing the motherboard is feasible solution for a bricked captivate?

I completely killed my phone.
I was flashing with Odin 1 click, and it got stuck at the factoryfs.rfs. After I long while I had to disconnect it and now it is dead. No PC--!--Phone screen, no battery charging indicator, nothing. Not even my home made jig is working. 3 button combo not working, USB + VolUP + VolDown not working either. The Vol UP + Power HW test screen is gone too,
This happened to me once before with a failed Odin flash too. Completely unresponsive device. I did manage to get it back with the jig. But this time it seems I completely killed it.
It's weird though, because the most important step went fine (the bootloader/sbl.bin step). This sucks
Hmm idk got that yesterday check your jig. If you have a Meter to test its output is wound up having to rebuild my jig with 6 resistors to get the ohm I needed to force download. Do a search there is a guy that made a jig using a igo micro usb tip is used the same thing today but had to test out several different sets of resistors before I got dl mode

The only way to completely brick the captivate is to have a phone that did not come with the 3-button combo and have not flashed dg's 3 button fix and to have a broken micro-usb port so that a jig will not work. So in reality no its not possible.
If I were you I would check your jig and try again

i bricked one with a bootloader flash from armani....i was stupid to leave it in the CWM flashable i made
and i have another one that is completely dead...unrelated to flashing, as it was stock JH7...even my jig wont bring it back
Yeah well. I'm going to buy a jig from ebay (does the Fascinate jig works with the Captivate as well?
Otherwise, I'll just get a used Captivate for cheap. Would love a new phone, but can't justify the expense of a Nexus S or something.
Another option, is it possible to just replace the motherboard? would that work? If so, I can get one for spare parts.
I'll be going back to a feature phone for the next couple of weeks though : ( . I loved my cappy. It's been a terrible week though, it's like I'm on a roll of bad news. Oh well, it's just a phone.

How much are you planning on spending? I would just go to to Radio Shack massive bag of resistors is 12 bucks and the iGo micro usb connector is 10 bucks so 22 bucks and you have an easy jig and pretty much unlimited resistors for all the bricks. I say thats the best way. i have enough resistors now to unbrick everyones captivates for the next year.
Go for the new Infuse, its a faster and upgraded captivate. Or just wait for the Iphone 5

[Q] Who has two thumbs and hard bricked his cappy? This guy.

Hey guys. I've had my cappy since last august (one year, obviously) and today an act of god happened while I was trying to flash my phone to serendipity 6.4 - lightning struck my dorm building (poor college student), and the power went out.
anywho, as you know the warranty period is one year (stupid if you're locked in for 2 years, imho) and guess what? my warranty expired YESTERDAY. FML. called AT&T and they won't let me get a new one now, and I'm not eligible for an upgrade. so... i have two options - shell out a lot of cash that I don't have for an insurance replacement or new phone, or fix my phone. I've tried making a jig, and it didn't work. None of the key combos work. It always goes to the phone-warning-computer screen. I searched and searched for a miracle solution but found nothing. Does anyone have anything I can try?
If not... is there anyone out there with an HTC inspire or captivate they'd be willing to sell me? This is the only phone I have, I don't have a backup, nor a home phone line.
With the pc screen you can't hold down the volume buttons and plug in usb with Odin running? If you're on gb kf1 bootloaders I remember seeing somewhere that screen is download mode. Worth a try.
That's one of my biggest fears. Precisely why I started using my laptop for flashes.

If ur seeing signs of some kind of life, then ur not hard bricked.
Edit: This may get u into download mode... Pull battery, insert usb into computer (with Odin already open), insert micro usb into ur phone, replace battery. If u get into download mode, put the battery cover on then proceed.

Edit: for the record, I was using Serendipity 7 before, and had that horrid battery drain problem, so I was trying to flash back to 6.4... if it matters.

You try only holding volume down or only holding volume up while plugging into pc from phone off state. ( best way to make sure is pull battery and replace without pushing any buttons. )??

This is precisely the reason why I do all my flashing from my laptop and I have a jig (or two) around me...and an entire pack of resistors on my desk somewhere. I went to the shack the other day and bought the 10 dollar super pack of resistors, and as a Computer Engineering major, I should never have to buy resistors ever again...I gives you somewhere around 500 resistors of differing resistance.
worked with another jig (a better made one)? Gratz!!

N1 + foam party = fail to boot

Hi, last week I was in a foam party... with my nexus one in the back pocket..
It was almost completely wet, I wait different hours and then I try to start it but it stuck at the boot ("X" symbol). Yesterday I came back at home, I change the battery, clean the phone with alcohol and put it in the rice for almost a day. I can enter into the bootloader (blackrose), I can use fastboot but the recovery (amonRa) and my rom do no boot. I flashed the radio and the recovery several times. It always bootloop when I start the recovery. With blackrose I check the internal memory, there are 2 bad blocks... not too much. The screen, all the buttons and the battery seems to work correctly but the led does not light up when I charge the N1 (but it charge the battery and without the battery but plugged in, if I try to power on the smartphone, the led blinks).
Do you have some suggestions?

I mean, i guess this might not work since your N1 is now Liquid Damaged but try this:
Fastboot erase system
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase recovery
Note: you will need a recovery image and a rom zip so that you can test out if your N1 boots into recovery or not, if it does proceed to flashing the rom then reboot, and still Your phone has acquired Liquid Damage, nothing i have told you might work, it might not even get recognised by the Computer that is being used for the current operation, your phone might even end up in smoke...ok maybe not but you have been warned.
Hi, thank you for you reply. I tried what you said but without success, the recovery continues to bootloop (of course I re-flashed it).
Maybe I have to say goodbye to my N1 :crying:

"Make" a dongle?? That may be just a little beyond my skillset.
Honestly its not that hard to do, the hardest part is all the cutting. You can get around the soldering by making it two peices, the dongle that goes into the phone, then the resistors, just make sure you insulate them. Or if you dont want to bother doing that you can buy one on Amazon for about 3 - 5 bucks.

Soldering or not, wires and resistors = hard to do.
