So after hours of searching i found out I can just flash an update from the recovery to root it.
All of the updates that I've tried have given me the error
"E: signature verification failed"
Can anyone give me any ideas or upload the correct file for me?
p.s. I can't super one click or anything cause the usb port doesn't work on my phone :/

Look at TRusselo's signature. He has a work around that doesn't require usb if you have some experience with root explorer.

I just recently updated to 2.2 Froyo and I can't install clockmod at ALL.
I literary spent 3 hours googling and trying to solve it but no luck ...
Anyways, everytime I try to "update" my phone to install CM, I would get this error:
"E:failed to verify whole-file signature"
"E:signature verification failed"
I tried everything, renaming the .zip, using different version of CM, ect.
Note : I tried using ROM manager also, it doesn't help at all :/
Thanks and appreciate the help .

Yes sir.
I used SuperOneClick root and everything went fine..but I guess it won't hurt to re-root it again.

doesnt matter. unless you change your kernel or flash back to stock, you CANNOT use clockwork mod with stock 2.2

You have a carrier specific built ROM on your phone, and that update isn't for your ROM...

It appears your using a unsigned zip.....solution #1: turn off sig verification in recovery before you select flash zip . Solution #2: Download cm7 final and flash as usual...its a signed zip.
Forgot to mention this only works assuming your rooted...if not sorry.
Reread your post and realized it doesnt appear that your rooted...tried to help..sorry i misread it..good luck anyway..
If you want 2.3, you can do the passimg trick with an FRG33 image, and then run the updates. Take a look at the Unroot/restore guide in the Wiki...

trying to update my rooted nexus one, but it dose NOT go well for a few times. it got a following message;
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
how can i fix it?
thanks in advance.
When you say rooted do you mean there is a custom ROM installed? If so then you won't be able to update with an update file you will need to do is with a whole ROM file such as passimg. So check out passimg (look at my sig) then you should be prompted for an upgrade as soon as you boot up.
no, my one is just gingerbreaked. im trying to update it to 2.3.6 or 7.
thanks,
Rooted phone won't update.
you may or not update rooted phone. we all know that.
you may or not update a rooted phone. we all know that. i don't need this kind of reply. let me clarify my question.
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signarure verification failed
Installation aborted.
what do these message mean? and can i fix it?
thx
The message is self-explanatory.
The file doesn't pass signature check.
Which means - it's either corrupted or wrong.
what you say is what the message say.
it won't be a solution.

Once u rooted ur phone, U can't simply update the OTA version... neither manually..
Now to update to the latest android official, U need to "UNROOT" ur phone first and then u'll get what u want. How to "unroot," Read 'Dude Random21's' Signatures.
U can't have an official android and custom ROM running simultaneously on ur phone

The solution should be obvious:
Download the correct and non-corrupted update, and apply.
You're not giving any information about your error, besides the error itself, and expect the forum to help you. For example, if you're doing it through custom recovery which you installed instead of the stock Android recovery - it won't be able to read Google original update files, since they have different signatures, and you'll need to turn off the signature check in the recovery. On the other hand, if the message appears on stock recovery - it can only mean a corrupted or wrong download.
what obvious? you don't decide what i think. i would. please don't bother yourself. i think that i got a right rom update, and no corruption.
however, i agree that there is NOT enough info. please take a look at a screen shot. it has not received new autoupdate recently even when it is not rooted, so may try to get it manually.
what ota or any rom update anybody recommend? and address to get it.
thanks,
The reason is that you are not running stock Android. Your carrier has a custom version on there, so you will have to wait until they release an update for your phone (or you can use the PASSIMG method to possible get you back to stock Android).
Since you are not running stock Android (verified by seeing your build number... official builds from Google use a 5 character Build Version like GKW74), you cannot use the official updates files from google. They will show that the signatures do not match, because it isn't able to update a non-Google release.
thanks to bassmadrigal,
that is what i was guessing. so now i have a choice.
Hello all, the phone i'm trying to fix is
Samsung GT 19000
GB 2.3.3
Please find the attached pic, i got some serious problems even after root and unrooting the phone, i still not able to install "miuiandroid_anzu_jb-3.8.2.zip" in my Samsung GT 19000,
the first error i used to get is "failed to verify whole-file signature"
the next one is "short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip"
so possibly what is the main problem?
i tried to install CWM (update.zip) downloaded from pc and copied to sd card and installed then i got the error "failed to..."

Also maybe flashing all androids are same but i'm very fine with flashing my xperia arc and finding Rom for that but for this samsung m not sure where to find the best roms,
would be nice if you got any good choice or preference for Samsung GT19000,
Thanks lot for reply
Redownload the rom and try again. Do not turn off file verification, because it assures your rom.zip isnt corrupted.
Id recommend slim bean or cyanogen if you want to stay as close to aosp as possible.

Help! I can't figure out how to install cwm on my sgs i9000! I have root, and used rom manager to get the proper update.zip, but when I try flashing the zip I get an error message saying that the signature verification failed, or something like that. I read on Google that the problem is that I'm on 3e recovery and that I need to be in 2e, is that accurate, and if so, what do I do about it? Help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

weeeell, with over 150 views, one would think someone would know the answer...
anyway, i solved it myself by flashing cf root, which has clockworkmod built in.

most likely you posted it in the wrong forum, if you had visited the i9000 forum you will find it in sticky threads as well as a simple search would have given you the answer see [Tutorial] How to Unbrick, Flash, Downgrade, Root, Update i9000 from Froyo to Kit Kat
so use the search for fast answers.
