Hi,
Today for the first time i have updated my mini using the Samsung Kies to Android 2.3.6. After that i rooted my phone and then installed CWM recovery 5.0.2.6. However, when i tried to install custom ROM i'm unable to do so. It stops in the first screen itself.
Before this i backed up my stock ROM and now when i'm trying to restore it..it got stuck in the Galaxy POP GT-S5570 screen.
Please help..

LOL, firmware is .md5.
Custom ROM is .zip. Next time you need to read. Of course you will get Gingerbread ! Who is saying Galaxy Mini is getting official ICS and JB ? That's impossible.

this flashing seems to be very different from what i do with my Xperia mini pro..where i have to use different kernels for GB, ICS and JB..not sure how it works for Samsung mini.
Also, i did installed custom rom before but it did go beyond the first screen. Now, that i have flashed firmware, i have to again root and install custom recovery..which i did now..Now i want to install custom ROM.. can i flash ROM CM7.2New Experience v6.0 by autoradio78 directly using CWM recovery on the same firmware?

Yep, Xperia devices need different kernels, and recovery is always bundled in kernel. While Mini doesn't, kernel is different part from recovery.
I suggest you flashing it CM7.2 by Mebitek since CM7.2 New Experience have some booting bugs. Firmware is doesn't matter, it's not like Xperia devices.
I suggest you flash unofficial cm7
Democrazy
Mebitek
MIUI GB
or Honeycream
Etc
All for galaxy mini

Which ROM do I use to flash to my Galaxy Note? And would I need to do anything differently from the method given in the guide?
Your post is wayy too vague. What ROM are you currently on? Completely stock Gingerbread? Rooted?

My apologies. My GNote(international version) is on official Samsung ICS & I just want to root it for the time being till a solid custom ICS based ROM is developed. To clarify I'd like to know which of the stock ICS ROMs in the list(in the thread mentioned in my first post) should I use to flash my Note with. I'm not a dev so if there's a risk in rooting the official Samsung ICS ROM then I'll wait till it's safer. What would you suggest sir?
I got my note yesterday and was overwhelmed with all the threads I ended up flashing ics in Odin and used speedmod kernel. Now all is good and using cleanote ROM.

I'd go back to Gingerbread to root it. Then, I'd flash a GOOD ICS rom (something CM9 based). But that is my opinion, I just don't like stock TouchWiz.
You can Odin one of those stock Gingerbread ROMs from DrKetan's thread in Android Development. I live in the U.S. so naturally I didn't have a country rom so I just used Open Germany. It doesn't really matter.
To root it use this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647148. I already tried in lq2.

Righto. Just a few questions... I went through the entire thread and found folks were having some issues. So:
1. Are you getting permanent full root via this method & SuperSU? Or is it temporary?
2. Any Wi-Fi/ overheating/ slowdown issues after rooting?
3. Do you need to rename CWM.zip to update.zip or do you leave it as is?
4. Lastly, if needed, can custom ROMs be flashed safely, and if so, generally which ones?

1. Permanent
2. No, the same.
3. Leave it as is. Go to stock recovery. Click update zip then choose CMW zip in external sd
where you should put the downloads. After that the recovery will change to touch CMW(use your finger to navigate), it is only temporary, then click INSTALL ZIP and find the rooting zip file you download. Finish you are rooted.
4. After rooting I use mobileodin to flash an ics. But you can flash any ics you want and flash ics kernel speedmod k3-3 to automatically get CMW or flash cf root to get CMW. About custom rom, this i recommend. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088. You must have speedmod k3-3 before flashing it, very important.
If you want another custom rom read carefully their procedure. Different custom rom different procedure, there are not the same. Be carefull, for example if you want to flash paranoid rom you must be in gingerbread rom before flashing it, if not, you will BRICK your phone. The cm9 is the same, you must be in gingerbread. Just read and again and again untill you know what you are doing, if not sure, read the threads, learn from their mistakes, ask question there, they will help you.
Success! I did it but only CWM.zip got installed from the ext SD card. I had to install SuperSU from the internal SD card. Now I'm gonna use MobileOdin to flash speedmod k3-3.
Hi all,
I'm currently on stock Gingerbread, which I have rooted via the ODIN method (I flashed No-Wipe N7000XXLA6_N7000OXEULA1_XEU Europe (03/02/2012) from THIS thread) and would like to move onto installing custom ROMs (namely the ParanoidAndroid ROM)
I was just wondering if someone could provide me with some instructions on how to do it, as the ones in the thread doesn't mention any kernels or moving from stock ROMs.

since you are on GB, you may also flash abyssnote42 touch kernel.
you may wish even to stay on that GB rom with that kernel, but from that setup, you can follow the rest of the instructions.
I've heard a lot about abyss, but how would I revert back to stock kernel in the instance of warranty etc? And if I flash abyss I can follow the standard instructions for PA right? e.g
Install Rom: http://d-h.st/DtV
Install HYBRID Gapps: http://4ndr01d.com/drcmda/common/
Wipe caches, factory reset is a must if you're coming from another rom than CM9
If your statusbar is gone after the first reboot: longpress Powerbutton > Toggle Statusbar
Reboot and edit your Apps Dpi under Settings/Paranoid Settings/P.A.D. Hold the powerbutton to see the new fullscreen-togglebutton

yes, your right, Because your on GB now you can just flash the abyss kernel and flash the ROM.
as for reverting to stock, When / If the time comes, just download a full firmware package from XDA or Sammobile and flash it using ODIN, that will flash everything back to stock
easy peasy !
That's it guys, I've decided I'm going to go with Franco kernel, from his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491428
BUT, I don't understand the instructions when he says
Stock XXLPY/LPF only - confirmed and working

Could someone give me instructions on what I would need to do to install his kernel? Thanks!
(Details of my current setup in first post)
If I flashed franco kernel or Speedmod kernel through Mobile ODIN that would be fine right? I don't want any yellow triangle and plan on installing either of the 2 kernels, and then after a while MAYBE install Paranoid Android.
Would that work?
Thanks!
yes, you can use mobile odin to flash kernels
you wont get yellow triangle via mobile odin
Custom Gingerbread ROMs
Hello Friends, I would like to humbly ask what are the various Gingerbread custom ROMs available for the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000?
Checkrom is best...i had 44hours battery life and still had 15%battery left;-)

Thank you for your response, dratif.
The custom ROM you have suggested, is it based on Gingerbread?
Also, what are the other available custom ROMs based on Gingerbread?
Friends, I am currently on a stock Gingerbread ROM and the Android version is 2.3.6
Considering I intend on flashing a custom Gingerbread ROM, should I look at one built only on 2.3.6 or would any custom ROM built on 2.3.x would suffice?
I have just Rooted my phone using Super One Click. That's it.
Now can I directly flash custom ROM's?
In this thread, I have gotten totally confused with so many things to do and different firmwares.
Please help me out.
Thanks alot
P.S - I already own an Xperia Arc so I do know about different Kernel's and flashing and other stuff. Just a noob in Samsung stuff
If you're on Froyo , you need to flash a GB ROM first
"As a friend, just....put an end to me." - Ventus
Yea, It's already on GB
You have to flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
After you flash it, test it by powering up your phone, keep pressing the home button until you get to a black screen with blue letters(Or Orange like in my nook color)

If you see that screen, CWM has been installed (either version 4 or 5).
Then you go and flash a new ROM.
Go to our Android Development Forums in the Galaxy Ace Subforum, and look for a good rom! Almost every post contains the method of installation.
ALSO WARNING: KEEP IN YOUR SD CARD AT LEAST ONE BACKUP/WORKING ROM. You never know.
(To backup, go to CWM Recovery mode, there's an option there)
Thanks, But how do I flash/install CWM?
I do know how to handle ROM's and other stuff. But since I'm origianlly from Sony Xperia Arc. What I did was, Root, Unlock bootloader once. And then all I have to do is flash a compatible kernel, then a rom.
Over here, I cant understand which order is what and how do I go about doing it. I have rooted... coz i thot that was obviously a necessity.

1. if you have froyo on your galaxy ace, please flash a stock gingerbread(official one) first, flash using software named ODIN. you can find tutorial on dev section
2. galaxy ace doesnt need boot loader unlock, it been factory unlocked
3. before installing any custom rom, you need a CWM/similiar type of recovery, you can find em in development section
4. usually, custom rom for sga come with custom kernel too, no need to flash custom kernel first, again, you can find custom room in dev section.but, you can flash custom kernel after flasing custom ROM
I know....this will make you confuse, i mean.....flasing custom ROM for SE phone is pain in the as* for n00bs, but flasing custom ROM for galaxy ace is more "n00b friendly", for ex : you dont need to worry about unlocking boot loader, incorrect baseband, download PC companion(<=damn app that make me headache for 2 hours).....
just flash, and enjoy.....

1. You need update Rom GingerBread 2.3 from Odin.
2. Install CWM recovery 5. (Download, push sd card > turn off > push Power + Home > intall from sd card > chossen CWM Recovery 5 > Yes and reboot)
3. Download rom you like, push sd card, full wide, and install from sd card.
You do not need root to flashing ROMs, only the CWM
I may have screwed up my note pretty darn badly I guess :crying:
I was on CM10 today morning. Wanting to go to Alliance JB I flashed Stock GB over CM10. Did a wipe and got into KJ1 2.3.6
Then flashed CSC again as keyboard was showing null error.
It was a pre rooted ROM downloaded from Dr.Ketan's link. Next I upgraded to ICS DDLP8 via Mobile Odin and flashed CF-Root Kernel
As per Alliance ROM install instructions I downloaded ROM Customizer and flashed the Alliance ROM zip. Galaxy Note logo popped up and the Alliance ROM bootscreen came up but the O in ROM just kept popping and phone didn't get booted.
I figured it was dead so I switched the phone off by removing the battery. Now I came home and booted into TWRP and wiped data, cache and dalvik. Rebooted again but no luck. Switched off and rebooted again into recovery and wiped system. Installed Alliance ROM but no luck. Wiped system again.
Now I plugged my Note into my PC and flashed DDLP8 via PC Odin but again my note seems to be stuck in a bootloop.
Any solutions?
Please help me out. I am deep in this mess.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Kaushik
Start again with the prerooted Rom flashed with PC Odin you used before (because this worked and was the base for your next steps).
Do as ThaiDai just said. But in future, don't flash ROMs with CF-Root ICS. Format command in updater script with unpatched update binary can result in a brick because CF-Root ICS kernel is pure stock without brick bug removed. Only CWM wipes and nandroid restores are safe. You are lucky this time because Alliance only uses delete recursive.

As he is already on DDLP8 .. i would say flash a DDLR9 philz kernel using recovery and boot into cwm and do a factory reset
I downloaded DDLRB the latest 4.0.4 ROm from Dr.Ketan's stock ROM thread. Went to prerooted GB and flashed ICS over it. Now running Philz Kernel on it
Thanks for the help guys. I tried to go to Alliance JB ROM again. Installed ROM Customizer and flashed Alliance ROM. All went well and my phone said it flashed succesfully. But now am bootlooping on the Alliance ROM logo.

Should I boot into recovery and do a factory reset or shall I restore my nandroid backup to 4.0.4 ?
Thanks,

after new rom.. wait for about 5 mins to check if it loads up.. check if the touch buttons lit up.. if yes then wait
always before flashing a new rom.. go into recovery and format /system, data , cache and preload. this will save you from doing a factory reset after installing the new rom. now you do a factory reset .
From your fist sentence I guess that you installed and started a Rom successfully.
If so, you do not have a general problem but "only" one with the specific Custom Rom (Alliance).
So you should post in the Rom thread because there might be an issue with the specific (singular) installation procedure Robbie uses or a mistake you make when you use it.

a Kernel and Flashed CM10.1 with CWM-Recovery. But the rom didn't boot, so I installed another rom, but it also didn't boot.
After that I installed 4-5 Roms but all of them are stuck at booting screen. I can still go into Download mode and install OFW, but that
is also not working . I downloaded the OFW from Sammobile, but that isn't also booting.
Can someone PLEASE help, because I need a working phone!:crying:
THANKS in advance:angel:
