Anyone knows what is the true storage left for both new 16GB and 32GB models? I need to decide which version to buy and wondering if the storage space left on the 16GB is enough for me.
Thanks
16gb = 13.5 gb
32gb = 28.17 gb

Spend the extra $50 and get the 32gb model. You can always access more media with an OTG cable and a USB drive.

There is no issue either with 16 or 32 GB cards in terms of phone performance. If you need more space go for 32 GB (It feels good to have extra space) I am currently using Sandisk Mobile Ultra 32 GB MicroSDHC Card & have faced no problem till date.
Just make a choice on your capacity requirement 16 or 32.

i also recommend the 32gb version!
I have read conflicting reports on the maximum size microsd card for the captivate. Is it 32gb or 64gb? Hoping for 64gb so that i can stick it in my tablet as well...

I am also interested in this
I have done 32 GB but not 64 GB. 32 GB works nicely.

I would also like to know this bit of information. I've done 32 before with no problems. I'm curious about the 64.
I just successfully mounted a 64gb sandisk mircosd I got off of amazon. It was a little tricky getting the phone to recognize it (I had to use minitools to reformat it to FAT32), but I got it working.
I'm running the latest CM10 nightly and semaphore (I also tried it with devil kernel and it was working).
That's great news. You remember which card/class it was? What is the standard card file system? I want it to be compatible with my tablet too.

Oh sorry, I thought I had posted it. It is a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1. It is supposed to use exFAT, which is what Windows will format it to, but my phone can't recognize it. Maybe newer android devices can, I'm not sure. I have an AT&T Captivate (Galaxy S), so it's a little on the old side nowadays.
I've acquired a 32Gb SD card (class 6) for my Galaxy Note (N7000) but I'm wondering if it could be a good idea to partition it into 2/3/4 logical 'drives' og keep it as one ?
The reason for splitting it up could/should be faster indexing on the phone (I'm not sure but may be one big 32G with a lot of files takes more time to scan/index ?)`also the sector size is probably bigger,'wasting' space with many smaller files (like .mp3 music files ..)
Let me hear your best recommendations or experiences.
Thanks :good:
I for one want the largest fastest available and currently have a 32G class 10. My next will be a 64G which should be faster. I would recommend class 10 and leave it at one partition. I would myself get frustrated with multiple drives and having to set different defaults for different apps.

Good point - thanks:good: - but isn't max external SD for Galaxy Note 32Gb ?
I have 32 GB class 4 and it isn't slowing down the phone one bit.
So I'd say you're gonna be fine.

Nope if it supports SDXC it'll take up to 2TB (When they're released)
In fact most things with SDHC support will take SDXC cards if they're formatted FAT32.
While you are in the future can you grab a flux capacitor? Been needing to pick that up :laugh:

But 64GB Micro SDXC cards have been out for at least a year now...
The only reason they say up to 64gb is because 128 were not available during the time the phone came out. They do work have one in my phone right now. Just wish I could put some of my apps on it.

"The Secure Digital eXtended Capacity (SDXC) format supports cards up to 2 TB (2048 GB), compared to a limit of 32 GB for SDHC cards in the SD 2.0 specification."
The next iterations of cards we will see will be 128, 256, 512 and then 1tb and 2tb. Seems farfetched with the sizes but about 10 years ago I purchased a 128MB (yes megabyte) card for $80 at walmart for my Compaq Ipaq.
Been keeping my eye out for the new 128gbs also. Samsung is known to be working on them but I haven't seen much more than that.

64GB SDXC works even with Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note. 128GB will work too.

That's pretty cool but will kill battery fast.
Yes it would, so get a solid state (pricey but may work).

I'm wondering the same thing. Having an extended battery it's a bit of a pain to pull the back off every time I need to pop in the second card or vice versa.

I have the samsung 32GB Class10 and had up to 10MB/s when using GB 2.3.4 (mass storage device). Now with JB and MTP i have nearly the same rates, but windows will not show the transfer-rates. when using mass storage mode in JB, i have only about 3-5 MB/s
