Hi everyone, I just got my Kindle Fire HD 7" (Version 10.2.6) a few days ago.
I successfully got my device rooted from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125628
After rooting, I tried to install the android and jellybean OS into my device with the following help from these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041694
https://sites.google.com/site/tomsgt123/videos/kindle-fire
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/otter/aosp/jb-4.2.2-kfire-hashcode-2013-02-12.zip
http://goo.im/gapps
The main problem now is when I tried to install TWRP (Function 3). When the "run.bat" tried to fastboot; nothing happens to my Kindle. I tried turning on and off my kindle a few times and the problem still persists. So I rerun the "run.bat" file and used the function "1" to try to boot my kindle. My kindle got rebooted but then it just like a normal reboot and it went back to the Amazon homescreen. No matter how many times I tried to manual reboot from "run.bat", it is still the same.
When I am at the KFU menu, the statuses for my device are shown as follows:
ADB Status: Online
Boot Status: Unknown
No matter what I do, the Boot Status will always be shown as "unknown".
I am wondering is it even possible to install android and jellybean on the new Kindle Fire 7" 2nd Generation device? Thanks a lot and your help will be deeply appreciated.

Hi I just bought my first Kindle fire HD 7 7.4.7 from best buy, I do not like how amazon os lay out, I see peoples using android os , I do not know where to start, can any one show me where to go from here.
First you need to root it with binary's root method, do not even consider using kindle fire utility or you will hard brick. Next read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
That will get you where you want to go. Two notes I want to add, put the ROM you wanna use on your sdcard ahead of time because your kindle will boot loop after you install 2nd boot loader and twrp, and the only thing you can do is go into recovery. Second note, when flashing the second boot loader and twrp, make sure to check the first check box about downgrading the boot loader with the red text under it, if you don't you will have a red screen on boot that will only be fixable by using a fastboot cable.

So you tell me this kindle fire hd 7 with 7.4.7 running jelly bean os ? , btw what roms is best for play flash video, watch youtube.netflix and some gaming,
I read over thread, I wish there a video
Yes you can run jellybean based OS's like cm, 10.1, and cm 10.2, hashcode just released a kit at build of cm 11 though and technically that's the most up to date version of android, though it probably might have a few bugs that are being smoothed out since I think it was released less than a week ago.
There are videos on the net but some come with the files for specific devices, and if you use the strong filled you could end up with a hard brick. The fire flash method is pretty straight forward, as long as you follow the advice I mentioned I think you should be ok.

what roms version is most peoples is using ?
I would guess cm 10.2 and cm 10.2 based ROMs, but that's likely to change now with cm 11 out since it uses less ram. You can try more than one and see which one you like the most. I'm still sticking with a cm 10.1 build because of a tablet patch I made for it that I couldn't get to work on cm 10.2, but that's just me, I would be on one of the newer builds if it weren't for this.

Hi, Is this method confirmed working on the 3rd Gen KFHD7 (2013) on 7.4.7?
3rd gen's don't run 7.4.7... That would be a second gen if it's running that os version.

I just assumed it was a 3rd gen as it was bought new for xmas, I'm glad it's not now and I can totally get rid of amazons crap system.
Thank you for your help
First off, I have no issues with the device itself (not bricked, etc.).
I simply want to restore my Kindle Fire HD 7" to the system settings and specs as if I just unboxed the device.
Is there any way to do this? If not, what can I do to reach the closest specs?
Thank you!
Just flash it using kffa's restore then unroot it, that's pretty much stock. You can then make sure it's stock by manually updating by downloading the update file from Amazon's site and following their instructions.

Hiya,
n00b question here: whats a relatively safe way to back-up the OS/boot loader etc on a Kindle Fire HD 7"? It's an EVT2 build, and has a pre-release test keys version of android 4.2.2 on. The System version is "soho-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39 11.1.0_userdebug_1036810 test-keys" and it has a load of test apps installed.
I've seen a couple of guides in the dev section but these looked aimed at the 1st or 2nd edition Fires - I wasn't sure how to back-up a system without an SD card. The tablet is factory rooted as adb root works straight away
Is there a way to revert back to an older version of Fire OS. I had Fire OS 7.3.1.7 and Fire Toolbox worked perfectly. The tablet updated to Fire OS 7.3.2.2 and now Nova Launcher doesn't work properly anymore.
I can’t find anything. I might send the tablet back and order one from Amazon warehouse that might still have the older version

i purchase a fire 10 with Fire OS 7.3.2.1
i cannot downgrade firmware.
Any firmware update released after March, 2020 is bound to block the method used by mtk-easy-su. Think twice before updating your device if you would like to keep using mtk-easy-su or mtk-su.

Rooting and Cleaning Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet 2019
What I can do is bypass wifi registration
What I can do is deactivate OTA upgrades - look via somewhere on XDA for this. Amazon Fire hd 10 was my search parameters.
I can adb file to download directory and read pdfs and watch videos.
And its very responsive. but....
But sadly I still get the pestering "registration" banner.
So i will reset to factory and send back. not worth the hassle. This was suppose to be "free" from ads version.
But amazon is still forcing you and still collecting your data. Why ? Because its their device.
I was able to get my fire hd 10 7th gen back to factory firmware. I noticed during setup as soon as I connected to WiFi it would update to the latest firmware and toolbox wouldn't work for nova launcher. It also just loops instead of installing apps from play store. I think it's back to 5.1.someting but now it says parental control won't let me into the software updater. I think if I register it with Amazon I could get in but I'm just using it as a Google tablet. To stop the update I entered bad info in WiFi connection two or three times then it gave me an option to skip. I also skipped registration. If it asks give it bad info a couple of times and bypass registration. Then I was at Amazon home screen. I connected to toolbox and first turned off automatic updates. Then installed Google play store and nova launcher. Working good. Slight delay going to home screen due to the redirect but not bad. I am thinking about manual update to 5.2.1 to see if it still works. I'm hearing 5.2.2 is where the problems start. You can't go back any further than what it was shipped with but I was surprised to find mine goes back to original firmware upon factory reset then updates when connected to internet.
