[Q] diana kernel on marvel v A - LG Optimus Black

Happy New Year...
I'm sorry to be a hard noob... but, I really have a question that i'm curious about the answer so much...
after some time I'm trying so many ROMs, I came to a point that I wanted to install pure stock ROM (Marvel ver A v20o) but also intended to use Diana Kernel v2.3light by Huexxx...
I did managed to install it, but I found a problem when I'm trying to change wallpaper... Try to flash several time and take various order of action, still have no expected result...
Is there some steps that I need to take to install custom kernel (eg. wipe cache/dalvik or fix permission via CWM)? or it simply doesn't match between Marvel v A with Diana Kernel v2.3light... because I see it's based on v20o and diana kernel also used in Zeus that based on v20o aswell..
edit#1 : been tried to install all apps in stock kernel+rom, then installed Diana kernel, I've got stuck in the lock screen, and both buttons and screens seems disabled and not responded... I even cannot do power+voldown combo.
did anybody had successfully combined stock rom with custom kernel?
thanks for any answer

[Q] Recommended Gingerbread Custom ROM? [This is my 1st time to flash custom ROM]

Hi to all,
I want to try a custom gingerbread ROM on my new OB. My current stock ROM is Froyo v10d.
Any recommendations?
Zeus v1 by Huexxx or Redy2006 or Novav11 or other mods?
Thanks.
U can try Zeus or redy's rom. These are more stable than cm as of now. Nova 11 is a kernal for cm7 not mod.

I'm proud of you, you don't come here and ask for a time...
Yess there are different custom ROMs like Zeus ROM by huexxx, which mainly is a rooted stock rom, with some tweaks applied. Then there is Redy's repack of rooted stock v20n and some deodexed (google it, but not important for a beginner) versions of rooted, stock GingerBreak (GB), then there is CM7 in different versions (some cherry picks and customizations), then we got Nova ROM, which is a HIGHLY tweaked and optimized Froyo based OS, and stock GB and Froyo ROMs.
You can find em all by using the search (upper corner on the right side), or by going here and scroll down (use mouse) sarcasm btw
Zeus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454274
Redy's repack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441901
Nova: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161015
Choose WHATEVER U like best! Everyone will suggest something else, since he/she prefers something else (speed, stability, battery performance, ...) Just flash em, try em and if you dont like it, try another one, noone can tell ya, what YOU like best...
Hope I could help you, if so there is a thnx button down there
Thanks for your reply.
I prefer battery on a ROM. I will give GB ROMs a try because GB they say has battery enhancement features the froyo.

Update: I updated my OB to Zeus v1 and this rocks. Very good battery compared to froyo.
Thanks guys.
i'm using xanadu rom based on redy's rom and i'm very happy. No bugs, no FC, good battery usage. I'm using it because I was searching for an original not touched LG rom, with root, but without LG stuff. Is refined lite version from 2ยบ post.

I use Zeus V1 and its faster and clean (little lite) i recommend this one!!

Flashing HP kernel

Hi,
First of all I have to say I'm really a noob in flashing etc, but I'm trying to learn
I am interested in flashing the horsepower kernel.
I read in the Hp thread that it is only compatible with V20 l/j/g/i/c/e.
I check on my phone and I have V20m...
Is that going to be an issue ? I'm not interested in flashing a custom rom, I just want the extra performance So I'd rather keep the stock rom
And I also have a few questions about the kernel itself. Are there any downsides (apps that won't work, ...)? If ICS is released for the P990, can I just update or do I have to flash the original stock kernel back ? I also read of people that had troubles with baseband, is that something that is kernelrelated of romrelated ?
thx
Just flash the kernel and see what happens
If it doesnt work, restore your backup you made in recovery before you flashed
I've seen people complain that they can't play games like PES2012 with certain kernels.
I think when ICS comes out you can update regardless of what kernel you are using. From my understanding when you flash a rom you overwrite kernel and BB, so if you want a different kernel and BB you have to change that after you flash a rom, but you'll have to confirm this, I'm not sure this is accurate.

The ROMs which have Kernel built in....but then you can also use custom kernels which are used to optimize the performance of the device...and ROM flashing does not overwrite any BB....but yes...you have to flash through Smartflash method for changing a BB. Changing a BB will wipe the data for sure....but then after the flashing ROM you also need to change the RIL accordingly....
If you have the wrong baseband, can't you just flash the baseband that worked on the stock rom ?

According to Sreeprajay flashing a kernel will not change your BB, so you will keep stock BB.

you are right....else i would just flash a kernel for the ROM and jump to different BB for different ROMs....unfortunately it does not..... ;(
testing ROMs will become an exciting game...just a few mins
Hp Kernel
[SuperSonic]*[April-05]*[CM9-ICS KERNEL][RC1-R] Horse Power 2x ICS RC1-R [OTF
I've installed that kernel and I run Nova HD Rebuild 1.0.3, the problem is after I reboot it shows my baseband is unknown. What went wrong? Someone help?

[Q] Any Wifi Fix? GingerXperia V30B Based On CM7

Ok guys I've have just downloaded and installed this ROM I found called GingerXperia V30B from http://tux8newblog2012.wordpress.com/2012/04/03/gingerxperia-v30-stock-kernel/ (Sorry website is in spanish, you can translate it if you wanna read it).
So I installed this ROM with nAa custom GingerBread Kernel based on stock 2.6.29 SE sources ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484 )
I also have CWM installed and everything else clean.
I also full wiped before installing both the ROM and Kernel (Installed ROM first).
Also installed the V30C update including on the first thread mentioned.
The problem is that when I go to wifi settings and click to enable Wifi it just says "error" under wifi. Like Cyanogenmod 9 without the wifi fix.
So my question is, does anyone know any fix for this ROM?
I don't really wanna change ROM since it's a great ROM as far as I've seen including (fake)MultiTouch.
Anyone?
I did'nt even know there was a GingerXperia v30
But on topic i dont know how to fix this hence the first sentence maybe its something with the ROM?

This ROM is for stock kernel, not nAa! That's why WIFI (and propably vibrations too) doesn't work

I must admit that p970 is not so hard developed yet and as far as im concerned, we havent got any custom kernel for stock-based rom like Zeus. However, Diana kernel (which is used in newest version of Zeus v.36) is best for performance and battery life. As long as someone wont make a miracle, its only-one custom kernel for stock based ROMs.
In addition, it has overclocking and is tweaked for performance, so why do you need other kernel? Try installing newest version of zeus ROM and test if you are pleased with results.
Similar question: So if i install the newest zeus i already have a new kernel on the phone or do i still need to update the kernel? I now have Zeus v7.03 and the kernel version: 2.6.35. Any help is appreciated! Thx

If you install a newer Zeus Version 6.33 and up you have a different kernel that can use lower and higher frequencies. 2.6.35 is the basic linux kernel, alle Diana kernels have that number too. Up too diana kernel 2.3 it seems to be very stable, after 2.3 the kernels are all betas up till now and well beta is still experimental, for some it works well, for others maybe not. If you install Zeus 7.02 or .03 it comes with a beta kernel, but I'm rather sure you can still install the stable Diana kernel 2.3 after you installed Zeus 7.02 or .03.
BTW all that can be read in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454274 , but OK it might take some time to go read that all, but before you ask more questions maybe you should at least try to read some of that thread (first page and maybe about last 3 weeks).

[Q] Installing ZEUS ROM

Hi,
I've rooted my device some time ago. (I'm still pretty much a Noob though). I was on a 4.1 (4.2?) based ROM with Cyanogen Mod.
Due to heavy battery drain and instability I decided to go again for stock ROM (rooted ofc).
Zeus ROM looks quite interesting (regarding battery drain an stability) to me.
There are different kernels out there for the P970. Is the right/best kernel included in Zeus ROM or do I have to install Huexx' Kernel additionally?
Or is there any other Kernel which works better for Zeus ROM?
Is there anything else I have to take care of when installing Zeus ROM (besides the typicall things like wipe data/cache, etc which are explained in "The Big N00B guide")?
Thanks in advance
anyone?:crying:
PS: I cant post on development threads. So that's why I have to ask here: Can anyone reupload Zeus v7.0 and the update v7.6?
Downloadlinks on huexxx blog dont't exist anymore and the reupload links in Zeus thread won't work either.
I think that A2.3 is too old now, there are lot of apps that can't be installed on A2.3. So I recomande you to use IZS 2.0, you will finde it only on htcmania forum, because Heuxxx is occurs to XDA. It's A4.0 from Heuxxx. And you don't have to solve possible problems with downgrade to A2.3. But if you want to use A 2.3 I recomande you to flash original A2.3 rooted, and then flash Zeus 7.
