Hey guys! Made a quick video review of a new case I just got in today. It's like Samsung's Flip Case, but with some added protection and a magnet that keeps it from moving and opening up when you don't want it to. Definitely recommend it!
Sorry for the random black spots during transitions, still new to this! I also need a DSLR camera and better tripod, haha.

Yes, was thinking about this. Love my current Samsung Flip case but the lack of corner drop protection does make me a bit paranoid. I really wish someone made a case like this with a kickstand.

Exactly why I got this! And it'd be nice if it had like, grooves/pivots in the the case too to prop it up like Smart covers and my Nexus 7 cover.

Does the back feel cheap at all? I'm kind of a branding snob. Does the generic look take away from the quality? How does the hinge hold up when you fold the top back? Does it fold back completely and easily?
Does the magnet cause s pen issues?

Thanks for posting... did you buy this off amazon? Ebay? Links? Also, (as post above) does the magnet (center right location) interfere with spen writing in that area of the screen? Thx

Doesn't feel cheap at at all, the phone looks even better in my personal opinion when it's closed, holds up well and doesn't bother me at all either while typing.

Nope, the magnet is to the side of the screen, so no interference at all. And the link to do the case is in the info on youtube. Just click to expand. I'll post it on here soon, too.
One issue, though, is it can be a bit difficult to grab the Spen, so if you use it often, that could be an annoyance.

I have exactly the same case, but I would not call it luxury, either from the price (I paid $7 on ebay) or the quality.
OP's case does looks nicer and more premium than my similar case, mine even has Samsung on the metal magnet clip on the cover, but looks and feels like total crap, tossed it to the trash can as soon as I got it.
I'm currently waiting for Amigo flip case, looks super nice from the pic, no magnet though.

There's a few other listings of "luxury" cases
that look similar but aren't the same. If it I'd the same though, I guess it could be a matter of personal preference? I personally love the soft, textured feel of the case. Feels quite nice to hold.

The only complaint with the magnet I have is that it's blue, lol. Figured it'd match the rest. Luckily it's my favorite color.
Let me know how that case goes! I'm purchasing a couple more myself(different cases).

I have the same case as the OP and didn't notice until watching his video that the blue on the latch is only protective tape. I peeled it off and now it's a nice stainless/chrome look.
I can only grab the S-Pen with my little fingernail, but it should be easy enough to cut/file/Dremel the slot a little bigger if it's enough of a problem.

Useful review. Case looks nice, but sadly, once again they forgot to have a cutout for the notification LED. I'd also prefer cutouts for better access to the volume buttons, as I use those a lot as shortcuts and when playing audio (with cases closed).
Most (or all cases ignore this however, especially the LED hole). And it should have a larger SPen cutout like this one. But looks ok for the price.

I agree, having that would be very nice. I may have my dad just got one out himself, actually. I mean sometimes its nice cause I don't always like to see if I have a notification, but for that I could just turn the case over. And with the cover I wouldn't have to worry about getting any scratches.

Quick question to the OP and the other person who owns this case. What type of corner protection does this offer? What material is used for the part that holds onto the phone? Is it a hard plastic like PC or is it a softer Silicone/TPU type material?

Mine is plain hard plastic. Part of one corner is gone due to a drop from less than two feet.
Owned this for 2 weeks until it started affecting the spen area around the magnet. no biggie if you dont use the spen just something to consider.

This case looks way slimmer than other cases out there. Comes in various colors.
Downside, is it's made with PU leather and I'm not sure if the flap is strong enough to maintain the triangle position.

 I got it earlier than you. I did look for a very lightweight case for my Nexus 7 that a) did not add much bulk/weight and b) could be folded back so it could be held as if there was no case. And I am glad I did.
-The case is quite thin and the tablet fits nicely in it.
-The case is quite stiff and the corners are slightly wider than the tablet. I think they'll add extra security to the tablet if I drop it.
-The magnets in the cover put the screen in wake or sleep mode when opened or closed.

Recieved my case!
I recieved my case this morning.
First impression: Its excellent. The case is really slim as suggested by supcase. I like the overall feel of the case. Very compact. The tablet sits very tight inside which is something I was looking for. All the ports are exposed and align perfectly. The case extends a little towards the edges, which I think is really good for drop protection. The sleep magnet works as advertised and does not turn the tablet to sleep mode accidentally during use. It also has magnets to keep the flap shut. I am very happy overall with this case. Will post pictures as soon as I get back from work.

What material is it made out of again? PU Leather?

I was torn between this one and Poetic, because poetic is very nice too. But I think this one provides better drop protection than Poetic and hence I went with it.

This case is by far the best case I have found for the nexus 7, it is incredibly thin and does not have any of the useless features, it does exactly what it is supposed to do and nothing more.
I was just surfing amazon and found a case available that i hadn't seen before. It's by Devicewear, called The Ridge. I can't link to it as it's my first post, though i thought i'd give everyone a heads up.
Seems like an awesome case, with everything that I was looking for:
Slim profile, hard backing, folio cover, auto sleep/start, microfiber lining, decent price, available.
I ordered it and should be arriving tomorrow, i'll try to take some pics and have a short review soon if people are interested. I already have the poetic hardback, which is nice, but this one seems to be the perfect case for me.
That looks pretty nice, looking forward to your review.

Totally is a good marketing scheme. Made me realize that this case is in the market and I bought it because it looks like the best one for my needs available.
I looked up a review of their iPad case and they check out:

Quick Review and pics
Wow, I had no idea that me posting that would make it seem like I'm schilling for them. Not sure what I can say to have you guys believe otherwise, but oh well. I'm not affiliated with them in any sense.
Anyways, for those that would care, it came in today (yay Amazon next-day shipping!) and I took some ****ty cell-phone pics and have some initial impressions.
The Good:
Very slim profile, doesn't add much bulk at all.
While not real, the "vegan leather" does feel pretty good and grippy in the hand. Definitely better than the pu leather stuff.
The inner lining of the front cover has some sort of rubbery, felt-ish material that seems like it will protect pretty well against scratches n such.
All buttons, ports and speakers are well-exposed and have easy access.
I love the combo of hard case to protect the back and cover for the front.
Auto sleep/awake seems to work pretty well.
The Nexus does fit pretty snugly in the case, doesn't seem like it will pop out unless coaxed.
The little ridges in the front cover line up with a ridge on the inside edge of the case to prop it up at multiple angles. It seems really sturdy, and a lot less bulky than the giant deep ridges i have in my poetic hardback.
It also flips over for a pretty good typing angle.
The not so good:
The PU backing seems a little flimsy, I've never had one of these hard cases before so I'm not sure how sturdy they normally are, but it seems like it flexes kind of easily.
While the clamps on the top and bottom edges of the cover hold it in place pretty well, they are definitely pretty flimsy and don't "snap" like you would like them to. I can also see them getting in the way, it would have been nice if they would have found another way to keep the cover shut against the tablet, like a magnet or a clamp on the right side. At least it stays in place though.
Because the case is synthetic leather, it does have a chemical smell to it, which i'm sure will dissipate over time.
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the case. I really wish the plastic was a bit sturdier, the poetic slimline from the pictures I have seen looks a little thicker. I really do like it, and I'm happy I made the purchase. If anybody wants more pics let me know and I'll do what I can.
Looks like the clips would get in the way if the front flap was folded all the way back like a book and then set on a flat surface. Correct?

They are noticable, but don't get in the way nearly as much as I would have thought. I have noticed, however, that with the back folded all the way back the magnet is strong enough to put the tablet back to sleep, so I have to put a finger in between to keep it on. Definitely annoying.
This is definitely one of the better looking cases for the N7. Its a little pricey though.

Looks like a great case except for this point, definitely a problem. I wonder if it's possible to take out the magnet somehow, I don't even care about the wake/sleep function much.

Is it possible to fold it in such a way that the clamps are facing up the back case (when folded back for reading), so that maybe they can snap onto the PU backing?
I guess it's a bit hard to explain but since the front cover extends all the way to the middle of the back case, is it possible to fold that part to an opposite direction (instead of folding the usual line along on the left edge of the case)
If this works, maybe it can avoid the problem you mentioned in another post, about the magnet being too strong and put the device to sleep when the front is folded back.

I don't think there's any way you can get the clips to face that direction, but I have found that if you keep the cover folded along the natural crease, forming a little triangle, I've been able to avoid the problem as well as giving you a nice little grip to hold onto. Thus far I am really enjoying the case. Although now part of me wants one of the Portenzo or Treegloo cases, they look really nice.
I am always looking for the perfect kickstand case. To me the perfect case is one that steadily stands the phone in landscape as well as portrait position. It is also important it fits in my front shirt pocket and is fairly easy to get it in and out of the pocket. I have tried several, but the one listed below is my new favorite. It is the thinnest I have tried and is one piece made of hard plastic and goes on easily and is a very good fit with all cutouts properly aligned. It has a nice patterned grip feature on one side so if you hold your phone with your left hand, your fingers will grip these. The kickstand is the best I have used. It is the wide kickstand measuring about 1.25" at its base for a very sturdy platform in portrait mode. The only cons so far are minor, the on/off button and volume rocker are covered and a little hard to press. Also the space between the stand and its brace is small and my finger does not fit in, so it is not as easy to use as a holder as the others I have used. As you can see the price is very reasonable and it also comes with a generic screen protector, a cloth and a generic touchscreen stylus pen. So far it is my favorite.

oooh, i've never seen this yoobao case before.. noted.. pun intended.
That Yoobao case looks pretty good but when I first saw it, I was worried that the rotating thing would scrape against the phone's back panel. Does it?
I just got it in today. It doesn't touch the back of the phone. There's about a good millimeter or two between the phone and the rotating thing.

Does the kickstand on the Yoobao case also allow it to stand in portrait?
yep. that's actually why I bought it since it doubles up as portrait/landscape stand. the one problem is that it's a little wobbly. You have to adjust it a littlest bit. they could've remedied this by making it a bit wider.
do you think yoobao case rotating kick-stand disk will wear off after awhile? I mean constant rotation with whatever locking mechanism they use to keep it steady will wear off since it's all plastic stuff. But at the same time it can make for a neat fly-grip attachment Can you stick your finger under/inside?
If you have some time in your hands go to best buy and try this case. You wont regret it.

That's actually an re-branded SEIDIO Surface case.
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung...e-metal-ks-combo-black-p/bd2-hr3ssgt2k-bk.htm
I have the Best Buy "Platinum Series" one here myself. It is a good case overall.
Pros: Very solid feel in your hands. Has a nice soft felt like material on the inside to offer extra protection. The kickstand works pretty well and offers a good angle for the Note 2 when in use. Very durable protection. Easy to install as its a two piece set for the case that clicks in place. The holster piece that comes with it is pretty durable as well and the belt clip is pretty nice as well.
Cons: Hard and I mean HARD to take the dang thing off. This could be a big deal killer for those who need to say swap out their battery/sd card/sim card or whatever often.
Certainly a good case but not without that one con that really be a deal killer for some.

I have this case too and I found that if you take a knife not sharp, more like the butter knife and insert it just off-center in the back "cut" where it snaps the 2 pieces in place, then "twist" the knife (very little twist), you hear a "snap" and now the 2 pieces will come off very easy. I was strugling with it too, but now it's a "snap" to take it off...lol...
there's a youtube video for the seido surface that explains a much easier way to take it off...so i assume it would work for this case as well.

It's a great case. But, as you mentioned, I wouldn't recommend one for people who chance their battery regularly. I stopped using mine when I started to see scratches on the edge of the sides of my phone. The case staves the phone when sliding it on and off.

I have tried both of those and I like the one I started this thread about much better. The kickstand is sturdier, it is much thinner, easier to get on and off and in my opinion nicer looking.
Cruzerlite makes a case with a kickstand built into the back of the case and its pretty sturdy with multiple colors. Check out Amazon, only about $25.
I've got the Case-Mate Tough Case and even though it has the little bump pattern on it it's way too slippery... it's not rubbery feeling like it looks in the pictures...
And I've spent the better part of a week reading reviews and searching and can't find a good answer... So what's the best case for GRIP? Preferably it should give decent protection, not be too big (I don't want something like the huge Otterbox or Seidio Active) and have a lip on the front to protect the screen.. other than that I just want it to actually be GRIPPY!!! This phone is huge (it's awesome, but huge) and I really need some grippiness on the back so that I can one-hand it... I've looked at the Aegis, Ballistic, UAG and others but there are mixed reviews as to the actual feel of the outside. I want something that I can lay it in my hand at a slight angle and it won't just slide off... The Case-Mate really checks all the boxes except for the fact that it's just so dang slippery!!
So if you've personally got a case/used one that you find exhibits exceptional "grippability" then toss a dog a bone and hook me up..
Thanks everyone..
(and if you're in the market for a Case-Mate Tough case then I'll make ya a deal....although it's prolly not worth the shipping..lol)
Not sure but I use a Body Glove and its pretty grippy around the sides (not so on the flat back tho). I remember hearing of some adhesive kind of like Flygrip but cheaper kind of like tape/sticker which you could apply to all kinds of different things altho they made some specifically for phones and other devices to give you a better grip .
First off I'll take that case mate if you're in North America definitely not worth the shipping otherwise. Anyway I would assume any tpu case is as grippy as you're going to get but there's a protection trade-off obviously. You could try getting a flygrip or a sling grip. I have the fly on my otterbox/zl setup and it's definitely the best one handed solution I just feel super nerdy using it lol.

Yeah, I thought about getting some of that tape stuff but somehow putting tape on a $500 phone just feels wrong.. but I may have to resort to it...lol

First off I'll take that case mate if you're in North America definitely not worth the shipping otherwise. Anyway I would assume any tpu case is as grippy as you're going to get but there's a protection trade-off obviously. You could try getting a flygrip or a sling grip. PM me if you really want the Case-Mate, I'll prolly keep it until I find something better though, it's slippery but at least it's protected when it falls.. And yeah, I had a Fly Grip, but I made the mistake of selling it with the phone I had at the time, plus I pocket this slab of a phone and I'm not sure I could handle the extra bump on the back...
No rush I'm just a case hoarder lol. If you find something else hit me up.

One of the few that's actually described as being grippy, that may be the ticket... haha.. thanks

I don't think anything comes close to a cheap gel rubber case for sheer grippines. There are any number of brands that can be had for 4 bucks shipped and I keep one around for when I want to sit and read manga.
They suck for sliding in and out of a tight pocket though. There is a point of being too grippy.

I went ahead and got a cheapo rubber/silicone case from Ebay.. I figure I can't go wrong trying it when it cost <$6 shipped...
I have this case in black (also a couple of other colors). It has grippy ribbing on the sides and the Android logo on the back is matte ... overall a reasonable balance between grip and something that will go in and out of your pocket.

Does that case have any kind of lip on the front so you can lay the phone on it's screen and it won't touch the surface? I couldn't tell from the pics on that site?

Have you looked at the Case-mate Pop case? This is probably my favorite case I own. It has rubber grips on both sides of the case, and on the lip in the front. I think this may be what you are looking for.

All yhe reviews on that thing say the kickstand is a POS... is it really that bad?.. I probably wouldn't use it but it would kinda suck if I broke it the 1st time I used it... what's your thoughts on it?

The kickstand is kind of hard to use but I hardly ever use it. Honestly that wasn't one of the reasons why I decided to buy the case. I had one of these cases on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 before I bought my GN2. I like that my phone feels solid in my hand, it's not too bulky, it's easy to put on/take off and it offers great protection. I already had one drop when my GN2 fell out of my jacket pocket from about three feet to asphalt and the only wrong was my case had a small scough mark. I like the case. This is just my opinion.

Yes, the case has a raised lip around the screen. The lip will keep the screen off a flat surface like a table; it is a significant lip. There are many pictures of this case in the thread where people are showing photos of their cases. Here is a youtube.com video that is pretty good.

Hopefully this might be some help
Any MOTO X bumper suggestions...other than this one here: http://www.tvc-mall.com/details/For-Motorola-Moto-X-XT1055-PC-TPU-Hybrid-Bumper-Frame-Black-MHC-XT1058-01A/?gclid=CPGQy4avsLkCFdFDMgod6jYAaA It looks like from China...don't want to wait that long.
Lol that looks just like the griffin reveal or incase proshell just without the clear plastic back. I just got the reveal yesterday, it's a very nice case. That would be my recommendation.

I don't recall whether I got the 'frost' or the 'smoke' variation (they changed the listing, so where I bought now goes to another product of theirs for the X), but whatever it is looks good with my 'cement' back, and is hardly visible.

From the picture it looks like that case actually retains use of the Motorola dimple. Of course, if the back plastic is raised enough, it'll be annoying to use anyway. How's the use of the back with the case? I'd like to protect the back but still like the feel of holding it w/dimple.

It does retain the dimple and doesn't try to jam their logo onto your design either (several other cases like to put their brand logo down near the bottom, which is an annoyance in my eyes!). I like the case, find that the phone still retains it's "easy to hold" characteristics. Sorry for the delay in responding, wasn't getting my notifications for some reason.

the place where the moto logo is on the back of the phone is slightly concave (i.e. dimple). Many people think the dimple feels good when holding the phone or taking pictures. Just a solid spot to put your finger when you are holding the phone.

i have gotten mine yet but most people say for some odd reason they just really like the dimple. it's the small things that count.
Just got the Hyperion case in, it's perfect. Dimple fully useable, yet protects the back. Cutouts are perfect. Can't ask for anything more for $7 off of Amazon
Just bit the bullet and got the chinese bumper case from TVC. I figured for $4 and some change it was worth it to try. Plus, I don't want any coverage of the back of the phone so i wasn't willing to compromise on that. Will try to report back on my impressions.

I also ordered a couple of them to see how they fit and look. Hope we actually get them.
I ended up going for the incase proshell because it had the dimple, but the way the cutout is renders the dimple almost useless. additionally, the sides of the phone are the same material as the back (slippery plastic) but i thought they were rubber. really only the lip is rubber and the lip is tiny at that. can you comment on if the griffin reveal has rubber sides and a decent sized lip?

Please do let us know how it is. I cannot believe no company has made any bumper for us yet One of the selling point of Mx is the design. Why do people want to cover it up? So bumper makes the most sense... is it just me
Also, Ebay is selling that as well...seems to be shipped from TX

i picked up this case but on ebay from a US seller

reviews are pretty good and I also already have this same style case with the S for a nexus 7 on ebay (bought it for $4 and its actually a pretty decent case, has ridges for grip on side)
actually found the moto -x version for $3 free shipping on ebay from a US seller as well. for $3 why not.
$3 ebay link for the cimo s-line case below.

Soft rubber sides and a more than adequate yet not overly massive lip. I am very picky with cases and am quite happy with the Griffin. It's very comfortable to hold and doesn't add much bulk at all. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for that style of case.
How would you say it will hold up to drops? Does it have adequate protection? I know the cheap tpu cases handle drops quite well and seem to dissipate the energy from an impact. I'm guessing the rubber sides would do the same.

Hard to say considering I have no intention on testing it I do have a Diztronic TPU case (which I love) but I feel more comfortable having my phone in the Reveal vs. the TPU. Take that how you will.
