Hi guys,
I have a Nexus One running 2.2 and was thinking about swapping it for a HTC HD2 and then putting Froyo on it myself. I like the fact that the HD2 has a bigger screen and pretty much the same spec as the Nexus One.
Does anyone know how the HTC HD2 runs after putting Froyo in it? Is it as fast as the N1 with Froyo? Is everything working like callls Wifi etc.? Would you do the swap I am about to do or do you think I'm mad?
Cheers,
M
I honestly hated my HD2. Good luck
Cheers Wylker......can I ask why though? What handset you got now man?

Probably because of windows mobile. =)
Cool! Anyone have one and put Froyo on it? Is it hard to do guys?

i did tried it on my HD2 last night . software still have alot not respone error not smooth running yet. had to force stop alot the screen look washed out compare to nexus one battery not recognized. and it running hot. i did see the advance of having larger screen thought.
Thank you tiensinh99. Do you have a link for a tutorial on how to put Froyo on it??
Larger screen... if you prefer that, that's probably the only thing that makes it better than the Nexus. The biggest downside is it being a windows based phone. Wait for galaxy S to come out for T-Mobile. Or go for EVO if you want a bigger screen, that would be a smarter way to go.
If I was to start all over though, and had a choice between those devices ... I'd buy a nexus one once again.
the instruction how to install is in the LEO general forum. also there r the dual boot intruction.
samsung galaxy S already came out on tmobile. and i'm still choice N1 over HD2 every time.
Cheers guys.....I think I have my answer.

Wasn't there another thread where someone was looking to swap his HD2 for an Nexus One?
Maybe these 2 should meet?

thinking of trading nexus one for iphone 3gs and htc hd2, both phones are unlocked. Would this trade be worth doing? I ve used an unlocked, jailbroken iphone before pretty solid, wouldnt mind playing with the hd2 for awhile.
I couldn't stand using my friends HD2 for more than 5 minutes.
wouldn't trade my nexus for that phone even if it could transform into optimus prime...
or build an island and transform into a jet and fly me to that island.. i don't care.
I would not do that. While it is neat to see android running on a a wm phone, it would never be nearly as stable as a real android phone. I had a touch diamond and I could never use android on a daily basis, had awful battery life and all kind of other problems
Hey guys ive been looking and deciding what pocket pc i should get, is dell, palm Toshiba or acer a better mobile and what one could have custom roms flashed to it easier?? any answer would be much appreciated.
I also develop jailbreaking software for cydia and find exploits for iPhones so if anyone needs any help with that email me .
Hi, well.... that depends on your budget and liking. My current phone is the Toshiba TG01 and its quite nice but if you want a phone with a wide community of ROMS I would pick the HTC HD2. It has a big screen (4.3 inch even though the Toshiba has a 4.1 screen the HD2 is smaller because its screen is pretty much right at the edge of the phone) and there are thousands of ROMS (including the Android exported from HTC Desire) and of course its more 'modern' looking as the toshiba was one of the first smartphones with 1GH CPUs (think it might be the first) but the HTC HD2 costs some money.... I hope this will help you and I know a lot about HTC HD2 coz my dad has one and i've been playing with it (yes, am only 12). And yes on the Android ALL apps work on HD2.
Hi,
I had a iphone 3gs for a few years now and i decided to buy myself a HTC Raider (HtC vivid) This phone is able on the new network LTE. Thats one of the reasons i choiced this phone.
so i went from appel to Android.
I have not see many thing about my HTC because its new and i was wondering if any1 may know if i did the right choice or not.
On my part compare i feel that the battery goes down realy fast on heavy use but i do have a big screen so that may kinda explain it.
Also as a new android user the version 2.3 is on my HTC.
I like to tweak and customize my phones and i founded that my htc comes with a lot of stuff that i will never use...
So i was wondering what do you guys sugger me to do to be able to use this phone at is best.
thank you
Hi guys, I 've being really happy to use my htc hd2 for nearly 3 years. I was using WM6 custom roms first, then i moved to Android and than to dual WP7/Android SD. It is really honorable and cool device. But now I am thinking to move forward and get new device. In a couple of month when WP8 will be released I will be looking to a new devices and may be pick one of them, preferably HTC or may be Nokia lumia or may be something else but definitely not iPhone.
Anyway what I am really want is to be able dual boot my new device like HTC HD2 does. So what do you think is there are potentially something like that will come up or should I better order one more brand new HTC HD2 on ebay . What do you think.
I see you like customization ! If I am right then you shouldn't go with wp devices. As the beggining you won't be able to have android. Don't mention about dual boot. You should go with some device like HTC one X or GS 3 !
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
what's wrong with the iphone you can customize the case to it
The nokia phone looks good right now but yeah, not too much customizing yet from looks of it, This based off of lack of customizing on Windows phone 7...
I don't even want to suggest it but if it does come out this year, I can't see blackberry 10 phone doing well against likes of iphone 5/lumia 920/galaxy 3... but who knows? At least blackberry was fairly customizable back then... part of rim's problem was making a phone that outdo current market then delaying the phone and it is outdated itself by time it is out :S at least nokia this time is putting out something that'll lead the pack for a while, no word on how the microsoft side of it is going though.
I know there have been countless questions about porting Windows Phone to Android hardware in the past, and the answer is always no. But what about identical hardware? It looks like a Windows Phone variant of the the HTC One M8 is going to be announced on the 19th. If the internals match could that open the door for me to try Windows Phone on my HTC One M8? Kind of like the HTC HD2 running the HD7's WP7 ROM.
Not great - Microsoft has a ton of requirements on the hardware and bootloader for WP8, so it probably won't be quite perfect enough - but maybe? I don't know how the OS will take being run on a phone without Secure Boot (and I doubt the Android M8 has it).
