Hey Guys
A very Happy New Year to all :good:
Another day, another year and another useless thread for our G-Mini by me :highfive:
Long story short, check this thread out for more info HERE
Most of us will be aware of these titles if u are regular to hangout @ XDA ;
1. Recognized Contributor
2. Recognized Themer
Yeah you probably might say, who the phuck cares about these damn titles XD. I agree with u too, nothing changes even after we get a custom title.
But whats wrong in getting a little bit of "Recognition" for our works. After-all, why are most of us doin this ? For the sake of money ? nope..
Someone whips-up a cool icon set working for many hours or many bang their heads to solve bugs in ports/cooking roms and some do the impossible like porting cm 9/10/10.1 for our puny little device !
So for what ? Its all just for fun and only fun
It gives us pleasure and satisfaction to share our creations for free among other users, and why not a little bit of recognition among other users too...so why not a little title to set us apart ?
So what are the advantages ?
1. Ad-free browsing. [who the phck cares ? Most of us use add-ons to remove annoying ad's XD]
2. Special Forums
3. Special tools
Dont ask me what the last 2 are, even i dont know.
Our developer/cook/themer base is slowly growing so why not some "Recognition" for people of our phone too ?
Result ? Moderators, news writers, and other xda staff will take our device seriously even though we are a "Legacy Device"..
So what are the prerequisites to become a RC/RT/RD ?
1. Be an active member at XDA for more than 9 months.
2. Help people/beginners
3. Produce great works in development or themeing department.
4. The number of works should be at-least 7 to 10 according to XDA staff.
[Some relaxation might be given if the number of your works are less, but are exceptional.]
So iff you feel worthy, and deserve the title just leave a comment along with your most recognizable "works" here at XDA. Some of our existing RC/RT/RD members can pass it on to any Senior Moderator or RC/RT Liaison Chiefs..
Cheers ! :good:

Correction, you need to fill the RD form to become an RD, nominating wont do it.

How people experience music in their lives

My name is Carlos Rivas and I am a student on the MSc course in Applied Music Psychology at Roehampton University in London and member of the XDA Developers community. I am currently undertaking going a research project on how people experience music in their lives. I’m most interested in the intense experiences that music can bring out in us.
Through a series of questions, I would like to know more about those moments when you’ve felt intense emotions while you have been in contact with music. The purpose of the research is to outline how these intense emotions and music are related, and try to find whether different people have similar experiences related to music (as listeners, or as musicians).
If you like to participate, you may following link http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dHdiSzJva2k1NjUwX054bTRMblRvemc6MQ
Thanks in advance!

Taken your survey - But I couldn't answer the big question (the second screen) as I am at work and didn't have time Hope my answer do help some though.
I do like the line at the top about as you experience when NOT high
I just took that survey. I enjoyed every minute of it and i'm gald I had the chance to share my opinions on music with other people.
The last question on the first page? Yeah. I don't understand it. Make it something a high school freshmen can read Mr. I'M COOL BECAUSE I'M IN COLLEGE!

You can always send me your response to my email address (the one stated in the questionnaire) or as a PM to my XDA inbox.. thanks for taking the time to answer

You bros remember when this place was only for developers?

I remember when noobs were encouraged to read and not post, when posts in development threads would be deleted if they weren't conducive to development. No cluttering threads with "thanks" or feedback regarding personal preferences.
It was because of this that I didn't join XDA for quite some time (I'm by no means a mobile developer, to be clear). The entire time that I had my T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur), I avoided registering because it was very clear to me that this place was just for developers. 2007 was a big year for XDA, which might be where things start to change. XDA made it into the news and tech blogs when the community bumped heads with Microsoft. A lot of noobs joined as a result. I was one of the many noobs that joined that year, now with my T-Mobile Wing (HTC Herald). While being a noob became more acceptable, this place was still for the developers. Noob bashing was encouraged as long as it was done with a smile. But with the sheer number of smart phones that have come out, this place has been flooded with new members looking to tinker with their devices. XDA has embraced these new members, and now the developers don't call us noobs anymore. They call us users.
This isn't a bad thing. It's just an observation I had. Made me get all nostalgic. Definitely been a major shift over the years.

And of course immediately after posting this, I see that there is an "Off Topic" forum. How appropriate for me to put this thread in the wrong forum.
Psss...You reminded me of my youth(I'm 17 by the way ).Good old days. But it seems like it was happening:

Who here actually donates? Those that do, how many devs & how much have you donated?

Ok, the thread is meant to be a bit intrusive. But...its more for stats, cause I wonder how many people appreciate others work? Sometimes I look think "Oh man that would have taken them freakin ages to make hmmm yeah I better swing em some bux". But then I think to my self 'well...what's a reasonable amount to donate?'
Rules are:
For the sake of not starting sh!tfights over who has better ROM

bla bla bla and people going off topic, we are not disclosing who we donated to and/or reason why we donated.
So it will be number of devs
Total amount
Date (not day of month...just month and year for perspective)
Possibly a break down on amounts if you want so long as it doesn't break the rule above^^^
I'll start
XDA
09/11 - $10.05AUD
02/12 - $20.00AUD
03/12 - $10.00AUD
03/12 - $25.00AUD
05/12 - $5.00AUD
Total $70.00
Google Market
10/10 - $5.00AUD
I dont think that this is appropriate as any donations should be between user and developer. Then you have no way of actually confirming the donations so im sure people will make themselves seem more charitable. And last but not least, if it was for percentages and statistics you should have started a poll in this thread.
Firstly, if you read my rules you would see that it was aimed to protect what you raised. I don't need to check if the people paid them or not? It wasn't about that...people can lie and claim they donated heaps and I wouldn't know? But that would be kinda stupid wouldn't it?
I wanted to start a poll, but I've never done that before...and a poll would entice the thought that this was something structured when its not.
I wanted to see what sort of thing seems fair or common, cause my belief is that not many people donate at all and hardly any amount if they do. But on odd occasions i see a post and it make me wonder again...or believe that this isn't true, that there are donators.
Do you understand where I am headed now?
James
I can't remember, but i have donated.
I just join not too long ago im tight at the moment once i get spare money ill be happy to donate to xda development

I haven't donated directly to anyone through XDA - but I support Lowveld on the HTC DesireS forum by buying his apps from the market even when he includes them for free in his ROMs.
Oh yeah, ib4l as well
Donations are a private matter, no matter how little info you are asking for.
With that in mind, thread closed.

Thanks for checking this new thread out. I made this thread to let people take the chance to properly thank someone on XDA instead of hitting the thanks button everytime.
This thread is not suposed to change the way of thanking someone since that will always be hitting the thanks button, this thread is for extending you´re thankyou and thank a person in his overall activities and contributions out here on XDA rather than thanking for one post he made.
Rules:
- If you make a thank letter for a particular person than you do not make more posts about the same person, everytime you need to edit a thank letter to someone than edit your old post about him.
- Don´t make thousands of posts at the same time for every person, choose the one that helped the most and contributed the most. ( Of course if you see more people which are really helpfull and needed to be thanked properly by a thank letter than don´t hestitate to make another post here. )
Why did i make this thread?
First of all because there is a 8 thank hit limit per day and that´s really terrible, secondly because just hitting a thank button isn´t always the right thing to do.
And some people write thanks letters in threads where it is not a good location for chit chat, with this thread we can keep the threads clean of thanks messages and make those thanks messages mean more.
Example:
Dear @Planterz ,
You are the first guy that came up when i think about trustworthy contributions to XDA.
When i grind through the device suggestions threads to try helping people it´s always hard to find an unanswered question of someone because you helped him perfectly, you make good explanations about why you suggest particular devices and that prevents people asking those reasons and arguments.
You are a good help for letting people make good decisions without having to doub between devices anymore.
You are ´Da Real Contributor´ in my honest opinion.
Greets,
Elya.

Finally someone share this. I was one of the donators as well...
Let me help with one more bug and workaround: Video capture on Instagram also wont work, but you can use OGInsta to capture video with no problem (quality is a little low compared with stock instagram) (TESTED ON VNS-L31)
Oh yeah, when a developer starts scamming people who trusted him, everyone needs to know his behind-the-scene actions.
Already 20 people downloading, please remember to seed torrent after downloading. I can't seed it 24/7

Thank you for support @OldDroid we love you!!!
I'd just like to point out he didn't steal ****, you gave him the phone it IS his property, and while it would be nice for him to provide the rom free but the fact that you are so entitled to all this devs work for basically $200 is so beyond ignorant, you should be ashamed. He's asking for $5, stop being so ****ing stingey. Do you know how much work rom development takes?

I don't care how much it takes.
I don't care what it takes.
He was supposed to do it for free like XDA RULES state.
What I find amusing is the lack of kernel source from Meticulus. He is bound by the GPL to release it.

Hence why he stopped development rtard. He doesn't want to do it for free anymore so he stopped doing it. If you're so adamant about free roms why don't you get up off your ass and do it yourself instead of complaining.

This is why we don't allow bounties!
Keep this off XDA!
