I installed the radio 5.08.00.04 (using the same file I had used previously).
Now it will not power ON. I tried 3 batteries. Nothing happens when I plug it to the wall either.
Any ideas?
thanks

Most likely a brick. Sorry bro.
Did you verify that the Md5's matched?
MD5 matched. I used this same file to install before.
was this caused because I had previously installed the same radio?
It installed as usual, then i pressed something for it to reboot (prompt) but it powered off.
Why would you flash the same radio you had before? What file did you use, link to source, and how did you flash it? As a rule of thumb you should never flash the radio via recovery.
my device was rebooting in a loop and once, i was able to stop it by turning off data. i thought that maybe it could be the radio.
i used the file from >>> cyanogen wiki android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/passion/radios/passion.5.08.00.04.zip
like i said, i had that file in the SD card and i re-installed it today, but i had already installed it before.
now the nexus doesn't power on. i tried all the buttons (vol- + power, wheel + power)... nothing on the screen. completely black. i took out the battery for 30 minutes, and nothing.
after installing the radio, it powered off (there was an image of a box with an arrow towards the android)...
wasn't planning on buying another phone.
its possible your power button is damage.
Plug your N1 via usb to a pc, the charge light will come on, remove the battery. once the light goes off, quickly put the battery back in the phone. this should reboot your phone.
If your phone reboots, it means your power button is flawed, its common with N1. Take the battery out and do it again, this time hold the trackball. this will boot your phone into fastboot mode.
I tried connecting to the power adapter, but no light. the button was fine, and the device shut off at the end of flashing the radio. i think that it's supposed to reboot, or prompt.
the phone is dead.
So you flashed it in recovery... Time to work on that JTAG.
yah, flashed in recovery, not fastboot.
Jtag? Any links?
thanks
Weird I might say? I flashed mine in recovery and it was fine. And JTAG is a year old method manually tricking the device to boot up being bricked. Google it. Like I said, its really old. Good luck.

I have read that a hard reset is activated by:
1. Turn off.
2. Hold vol up/vol down/power on
3. Select Recovery using vol buttons and press power button
4. After several minutes, screen with red triangle will appear
5. Hold volume up and press return for menu to make hard reset
All goes well til #4. Here I get blank screen showing "Google" and it never moves into the red triangle picture and just freezes. I have waited over 20 minutes for the boot into recovery menu and nothing happens.
Have I missed a step or is something wrong? If onboard recovery process is broke is there a way to fix it? I would like to have access to hard reset should something dire go wrong.
No I am not rooted nor have I tried to root and have only loaded apps at this point.
Everything else is working fine and this appears to be an excellent device.
Thanks for any advice....
if you stuck on a screen, just hold power plus both volume buttons at the same time. hold it for a few seconds until you see your device reboot. hopefully you good after that. i got stuck on bootloader screen before and did that to get out of it. good luck!

I am stuck on the google logo right after i do recovery mode. i did what you said to get out of the google logo but i tried again to hard reset but it still is stuck on google logo. and i need to hardreset becuase i have forgot my lockscreen password and it is the only way i can get into the tablet.
oh ok. if that hard reset not working, might be better off trying to remember what the password was. you didnt write it down anywhere?
actually theres a way to reset it, or erase all of your data, go into developement section and check out wugfresh root tool kit or the one from Sambra. it will likely require you to unlock but all data n everything will be erased back to how it was out the box. thats your only hope. if you were rooted already, there mightve been a chance. but i think you have to run one of those tool kits to root and unlock. then itll automatically wipe the tablet clean of any previous data.

So the issue is that the tablet is freezing once you click "recovery" from the bootloader menu?
If thats the case - it's a pretty common known issue.
1) Boot into the bootloader
2) Plug the device into a USB port on your computer
3) Click recovery
That should allow you to access the recovery menu.

Same here - anybody got any solutions/suggestions?
I had trouble getting into recovery earlier, so I installed CW Recovery via Fastboot,
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-7-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-1-0-install-103346/
Now it works, before it was just sitting on that Google screen.
Forgot Pin lock
If you set a pin lock on your tablet make sure you remember it!!!
Apparently google or asus can't do anything so you would have to send it back for a replacement tablet.
Google customer service told me they are aware that the hard reset does not work for nexus 7 tablet.
And they might not even fix the known problem.
Plug the device into the computer before you reset it, otherwise the hardware buttons won't work in the bootloader.

I know how you can hard reset it
step 1) install android sdk
step 2) plug tablet into computer
step 3) boot into bootloader
step 4)
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot oem lock
step 5) enjoy factory reset tablet

Maybe if you unlock and root the tablet, that might work. But on a unrooted or locked tablet the hard reset does not work at all. Gets stuck at the google logo. Pluging it to the computer or without it won't work. Kinda silly isn't it?

You need to have bootloader driver installed. It comes with the SDK - after booting into bootloader, plug the tablet in, wait for Windows to try installing default drivers, then select to find driver manually and navigate to <sdk>\extras\google\usb_driver. After the driver is successfully installed, keys start working again and the tablet boots into recovery successfully.

I also have one of those tablets that doesn't boot into recovery if you choose it from bootloader no matter if you hook it up to computer, don't hook up to computer, stand on your head, put your ankles behind your head, or beg it. It just freezes at the google screen.
So the quoted part, is your solution.

AFAIK, for fastboot to work, bootloader drivers need to be installed.
Fastboot works. But can't enter recovery from the bootloader menu.

Does fastboot reboot recovery work? Lock/unlock erases the device, so if you're trying to do factory reset, perhaps that's all you need?

Ya that works, if I use the os to enter recovery, no problems. Or adb commands to enter recovery, no problems. Just can't boot to recovery from boot loader with the recovery option in the boot loader menu.

Hi willter12,
Can you fix this issue?
I had the same problem, however, my N7 was rooted before. I recognized that my N7 CWR had been removed when rooted (another guy did it).
So, I installed the Toolkit from this and un-lock boot loader, flash back CWR, everyting was very OK to restore to stock. :victory:
Goodluck.
Hi Everybody
I had a 7" kindle fire hd that was rooted but I was trying to get the latest google play installed with KF First Aide but for some reason it got messed up. Now it takes a long time to boot up and when it boots up, instead of going to the go launcher screen, it looks like it's going to the default Kindle home screen. I see the Shops, Games, Apps, Books, etc at the top with no images or anything at all.
I also see the Customer Also Bought at the bottom but no icons or images at all either. There's nothing else to click on. I tried to do the restore in KF First Aide but that didn't work.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Anybody in the OC California area want to help? I would gladly pay for your time?
Or can this be done remotely? I would also gladly pay for your time.
I just want to get this to work again!
Thanks!!!
Boot into Recovery and do a factory reset. Assuming you know how to use ADB and fastboot, grab a .bin file of the 7.2.3 OS image from Hashcode in the development forum and flash.
How do I boot in Recovery and do a factory reset? Do I need the factory cable for that? I have one on the way.

Shutdown the Kindle, then power it on holding the Volume Up button. If that doesn't work, power the Kindle on, and THEN hold the Volume Up button. Either way, you should end up in a simple Amazon Recovery screen with you options, factory reset and reboot. Go ahead and do a factory reset. There are other ways to get into Recovery but only in-app, like from ROM Toolbox and such.
But before that, try a master reset first. This is much more simple. At any time when the Kindle is powered on, after it finishes booting, hold the Power button for 30 seconds, then release, and hit it again to power the tablet on. This master reset resolves many problems like crashes and freezes.
I tried the master reset but it still boots up to a sluggish kindle home screen with no icons or home button.
I tried the shutdown then power on with vol up button but that didn't work.
So I shutdown, turn on, then hold vol up button. I didnt get an amazon reset screen. I put me in safe mode?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!!

There's no safe mode, it's probably the fastboot screen, but you normally can't get into fastboot unless you use an app or if you have a factory cable (not the USB cable that came with the device).
Try shutting down, then booting holding BOTH Volume Up AND Volume Down and see if you can trigger Recovery that way. I know I have managed to enter Recovery once like that.
Note: This is a re-post from the Verizon HTC forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533042)
I just rooted and S-off my HTC via rumrunner.
No flash roms install or custom recovery installed.
I wanted to see if I still had CWM from my last root (I returned to stock via http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...highlight=s-on.
So I went into the bootloader or fastboot (I don't remember) and hit recovery. This did not send me to a CWM, but it appeared to be the stock version of recovery. The process took too long (I know impatient) so I turned it off via power button + volume down.
Now I come to you in need, my phone is constantly turning off/on only displaying the green htc text, no red text, then pausing for 8 seconds, then off again to black screen. The whole process lasts 12 seconds, and this had been going on for about 10-15 min atm.
Plugging it in, my computer does not have the time to recognize it with adb, or fastboot.
I cannot use the power button + volume down to go into bootloader, and pressing the power button does nothing.
Please help me.
So here's the update.
Screen is now black, meaning the boot up/down process has stopped.
I have tried these:
A. Hold down the volume down + power button for 20+ seconds.
B. Hold down the volume up + volume down + power button for 20+ seconds and let up on the volume up button when screen goes black.
These two methods results in a single boot up to green HTC text then black screen.
I suspect the device has lost most of its power. Tried it for a third time, the device is now unresponsive and remains at black screen.
Now I plugged the usb cable connected to the power adapter.
The device enters the aforementioned continuous boot loop.
I tried method A and B, and there are no results, the boot loop continues. Now the device returns to the low or no powered state.
Now the device is connected to the computer. The same happens as if it were connected to the power adapter.
Method A and B still do not work.
Results: holding down buttons longer do nothing for me. The device seems to have lost power, but when charged, immediately the device enters the boot loop state.
Note: when doing method A and B the trials were done when screen is on and when screen is off, still no results.
Now the screen is off and not connected to anything. The problem still persists.

If I had to guess I would say your volume down is broken, else it would enter hboot
plug in the power and let it charge all day. then plug it to your pc and try to adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot recovery the instant you here the pc usb ingage.
once you get to the bootloader try and fastboot erase cache followed by fastboot reboot
after your phone boots you should be able to go back to bootloader and reinstall custom recovery

I have a few questions/concerns to this.
1. When I charge it, I can't stop the phone from the continuous boot. I'm afraid that doing this all day might hurt the phone more.
2. Currently I have been charging it via computer (still boot loop), and the computer does not recognize it at all. I think there is really not enough time because the loop duration is only a few seconds.
3. Since the phone is connected to the computer, the commands adb reboot bootloader and adb reboot recovery does not work. Error: device not found.

So what is this method supposed to accomplish?
I did this and the phone stopped the continous boot. However when I tried to go to hboot it went back into the loop. I did this twice, and I'm able to stop the loop with the bright light method, but I don't know what to do from here.
Note: when plugging phone into computer, the loop starts again.

the phone should not bootup with the power cord plugged in from an off state (are you turning the phone back on ?)
turn off phone by holding power 15 seconds under a bright light
plug phone into outlet (not PC) let charge till green light comes on (not Red)
hold volume down and power for 10 seconds ( you should be in hboot)
plug phone to PC choose fastboot hit power
your now in fastboot usb
from here you reflash recovery
fastboot erase cache and reboot recovery
if your still in bootloop I'm at a loss, and seems your hboot is corrupted I think you have to return your phone to Verizon or HTC.

But yes as soon as I plug the phone into the power adapter the red led flashes on, and the htc logo appears, then the loop continues.
I'll probably take it into Verizon tomorrow and update on what happens.

sorry to hear that mate!!!
My phone seems to reboot every night as in the morning I always have this prompt to enter PIN after a reboot.
I wanted to delete the cache partition but cannot find a way how to boot into the recovery mode.
The usual power + volume up does not seem to work.
Any special trick?
The phone needs to be conected to a charger.
maybe with ADB command ?
adb devices
adb reboot fastboot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
hmm, power + volume up with usb cable in seems to work, but it says 'no command' and you cannot do anything.
I will probably have to give adb a try...
maybe try one night in "Safe mode".. this disable 3rd apps, for boot in SafeMode is 2 method:
1. from power off, press VolDown+Power buttons
2. from booted phone, pres Power button and long press on screen PowerOff
I deleted cache for a few recently added aps via settings and haven't had a reboot since then.
If I run into issues again, I will try the above suggested adb or safe mode. Thanks.
My Nokia 7 plus is the same, random reboots many times a day. I have removed a lot of the apps I don't use and reset the app cache for the ones still left but still it restarts.
Nokia have not been much help really, short of doing a factory reset I'm not sure what else to do.

If even the factory reset doesn't help, go to service center or either ask for a replacement because there have been some reports of randomly rebooting devices and those devices were replaced.
