With the otterbox on the way and this I'm not to sure on what to get. I'm thinking this one so i can put a Glass.T on it. Otterboxes have a screen built in and i'd hate to have to cut a case. Anyways here are some details from the site.

here is a video of the original note with the case on so you can get an idea of thickness
and here is a kind of regular guy review of Shell Gel cases
The pics of the note 2 look nicer than the note 1 videos. I might consider this. Thanks.
Nice, considering this case also.

I have this on my HTC sensation and its awesome. I recommended this to my friend as well and he love it. I'm waiting to get it for my wife's note its just solid and doesn't feel bulky in the pocket and I've dropped twice from seat height and all is well. Better than the over priced over rated otterbox which was great when first released now they are just out to make money. No quality in them anymore.

Just like the case I had on my GS2 and loved it. Saved my phone many times over.

I was saddened when I learned SGP is not making the Glas.T protector for the Note 2. This curved glass thing is irritating. But, their ultra crystal is amazing, I highly recommend it.

Looking for opinions on most protective case. Defender seems like the best but the screen protector....and hearing about dust getting in between it and the screen is a little disconcerning. I used a seidio active case on my thunderbolt and loved it, dropped on concrete several times and faired very well. But after recently breaking few months ago and seidio not wanting to replace it like they used to...kind of left a bad taste in my mouth and I dont know if I want to go back to them. That's what she said. Please let me know your opinion. Thanks!

Although I don't have the note2. I have an s3 and I have the otter box defender. I couldn't get the oil slick look to go away so I just took the built in screen protector out. It just pops right out. I have my full screen protector on there anyway to its still fully protected.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Ya that's what im thinking. Just thinking... should I buy it then immediately break the case by ripping out the built in protector. It just feels weird to break something so expensive on purpose lol. Then, does the adhesive that was holding it on cause an issue or removing the protector cause the case rigidinity to be compromised?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
If you can wait 3-4 weeks the uag http://www.urbanarmorgear.com/products/black-note-ii-case
But if you need it now then go for the otter defender or commuter.
Also, if removing screen protector from defender is there still benefit(s) to using that case versus an otterbox commuter? Being that there is an included screen protector versus built in already.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Rigidity shouldn't be compromised, and from what I read people use hair dryer to heat up the edge of the screen for a glue to soften, thus doing a clean removal of the screen. Glue supposed to roll off easily when its hot.. But you have to keep in mind, Otterbox gives you 1yr warranty if something happens to the case. If something breaks or gets damaged and you need to replace it, they will ask your original case back (I called them up to verify it) and even if you going to glue the screen back - there is a chance they will see it and might use it against you. I personally didn't want to take my chance, so I'm returning my Defender back.
Ya I was worried about breaking/enhancing this case for this reason. What did you end up going with?

Yes I have been watching this closely. Wasnt sure about how tough this case was. Looked more about design from what I could see, but I could be very wrong. I actually voted so they would make that case lol. But....not sure whats up with the holes on the back.

I have two cases for my Note 2: a Seidio Active case, and, as of this morning, an Otterbox Defender. Both have their pros and cons. The Seidio is more comfortable in the hand, and quite a bit slimmer, but the soft rubber inner case peels away from the phone too easily and all sorts of nasty scratchy stuff can get underneath it. It also has a handy little kickstand. The Defender is bloody huge, and for me at least, not as comfortable to hold. But it really does feel bombproof. The inbuilt screen protector isn't wonderful, but it works ok. Just needs an oleophobic coating.
As for which is best, I guess it depends how much you think you're going to throw your phone around

Throw? Never, unless onto the bed across the room. Its more of, late night out drinking and drop it from like 5 feet high on to concrete... that kind of scenario. Siedio for tbolt held up well for that did break the case eventually but phone still doesnt have a scratch. But yes, thank you for mentioning comfort, because if it never slips out of your hand... you never drop it. Looking for something grippy if possible, but that is second on my list to overall protection of course.

They are both grippy. The Defender is just a bit too big to hold comfortably. I guess that's the joy of better protection. Ironically, the Defender is possibly more likely to be dropped, not because it slips from your hand, but because it's likely to snag when you try to take it out of your pocket.
I'm going to stick to the Defender for now, although I will remove the screen protector. I use Liquid Armour on the screen and this pretty much negates the need for a plastic cover on the screen.

Whag was your reasoning for choosing the defender over the commuter? I hear it doesnt snag on pockets and has a regular screen protector. I ask because this case is my backup for the time being

I had a commuter on my iphone, and it was dreadful. It didn't fit well, and really didn't feel like it would provide any degree of protection at all. And protection was rather important with all that glass! Binned it after a few days and ended up with a Taktik case (kickstarter thing). But I digress.
Apart from my iphone experience, I would say the Seidio case is better than the Commuter. It will give as much protection, and look and fit better.

Hey guys, I'm getting my note 2 in a couple days so I have been looking at cases. Id like a nice quality one which looks good and isn't overly bulky and possibly even with a kickstand.
My budget is 30/40 bucks max.
I've been looking at the seidio active and the uag one. Thanks

Been looking for one myself. I like the Ballistic one, but it doesn't have a stand.
I know someone who has one for the S3 and it seems to work great
Platinum Series (Seidio Surface at Best Buy), or the Poetic or Bear Motion folio cases. There's also a rubber/plastic hybrid called the Rhino or Rugged case on Amazon, and I've had pretty good luck with that one.
Trident Aegis
I honestly think the best case for the Note 2 for my needs is the otterbox commutter. I doesn't add too much bulk, protects it very well (almost as well as the defender, see the link below), and has port coverings for to stop dust and other small particles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc4MEzq9hHc
UAG all the way. I've had both the active series and just about all the others. My main beef on the active series was that it actually looked a little cheap. Also the top and bottom of the active series is too flexible so in and out of pockets isn't like the UAG.
It's pricey but it looks like a $40 case. You get your money's worth. I haven't used the screen protector but I really like that it includes one.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Can't really say anything about the UAG case since I don't own one. But when I myself was trying to figure out a heavy duty case I ended up with the Otterbox Commuter as well. Compared to the UAG cases from what I can tell, the otterbox has dust cover openings for both the headphone and micro usb ports as well as a dual layer case vs the UAG just one layer.

This 2.00 case and 4.99 shipping making it 6.99 shipped works excellent. Has a abs plastic exo skeleton and a rubberized skin. The exo skeleton locks onto the skin and has hard and soft protection at all 4 corners and has kick stand built in to the exo skeleton. Also comes with another holster type case that has an articulating clip that will go from portrait to landscape carry it too has its own kickstand
I dropped my phone from 4 feet and it bounced on 3 corners before it stopped and not a thing wrong with it .

Commuter case for me at the moment. Good double layer protection an i like the lips size of the edges feels like this case can take a drop from chest or ear height with no problem.. well lets hope so.
Considering buying a Defender just to do the extended battery mod. Probably get it in black since they say black makes things look slimmer Lol

Decided to go with the Ghostek Nautical. It's a nice case with excellent protection, including an integrated screen saver. The two downsides are that the S-Pen is very difficult to remove and headphone use requires an extender, which dose not come with the case. It reminds me of the Otterbox Galaxy S7 Edge case that had an integrated screen protector.
I've seen at least three other cases with integrated screen savers (all available through Amazon) but have no experience with these:
1) Love Mei Water Resistant Shockproof Aluminum Metal Super Anti Shake Silicone Fully Body Protection for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
2) Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Case, SUPCASE Full-body Rugged Holster Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Galaxy Note 8
3) i-Blason Galaxy Note 8 Case, Shock Reduction / Full body Bumper Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
I have the UAG Monarch on order. I've been using their cases with every single phone that had one available for as long as I can remember. I always had their standard cases (now called Pathfinder) but they apparently aren't making those for the Note 8 and I hate the transparent cases. So this is my first Monarch, I'm sure I'll love it just the same.
I have the Ghostek Nautical. It's not to great to be honest.
The photos when using flash are blurry and have the halo light effect.
You cannot get the S-Pen out unless you have small fingers or use another object to try to remove it.
It's kind of depressing because this case was awesome for my galaxy s8. Only reason why I decided to use it for my note 8.
I got a Nautical, and honestly its not worth anything near the amount sold for.
The one i got the power button did not work unless you hit it with a hammer. The fingerprint cut out was not aligned with the phone. The plastic feels cheap. and due to a reflection from the case, its impossible to take a photo with flash with the cover on.
Highly disappointed.

I'd say go with the OtterBox Defender, tried and true. If you are paying $60 for a case might as well go with the Defender.
I understand wanting to protect the phone, but looking at these cases they are unbelievably bulky. Sturdy yes but wow, the added bulk. What are you guys doing with your phones that you need such a massive case? I'm genuinely curious as my last case was a Bear Motion for the Pixel and it didn't even cover the top and bottom. And even now I'm only using the Rinke smoke TPU case.

I have a thick protective case instead of paying monthly then a deductive for insurance, especially nowadays that everything is glass the phones are too vulnerable to drops. Sure I'd love to rock the phone "naked" and show off the amazing design but if I dropped it I would be extremely pissed I just broke a $1000 phone.
I don't understand why some find it to be a problem that others want to protect their 1000 dollar investment some ppl work in accident prone jobs we need protection I don't like spending multiple 1000s repeatedly.

I bought a Ghostek Nautical for my Galaxy Note 9. The s-pen cover does not close. After complaining to Ghostek and demanding a replacement case or refund, Ghostek agreed to send a replacement. It took two months to arrive. The s-pen cover on the replacement case also doesn't close. Don't waste money on their case..
Has anyone tried some new thin cases? The Note 8 is a slim sexy phone. It sucks to put it in a thick bulky case. Show us what y'all have in thin cases.
I bought these 3
The first one was from Best Buy and I like it alot and its the one I use the most. Nothing fancy just a thin case TPU soft in the hands.
The second one I got off of eBay it's blue with a clear acrylic back. Don't get that one the cut out for the finger print scanner is to small. I cut it out some more to make it work. It's a ok case if you don't mind cutting it yourself.
The third one is from Ghostek it's 40 dollars it has a aluminum frame and a acrylic clear back. It's still a little thick for me but a damn well built case. I did not even use it I am going to sell this one.

Ok here is two more that came in today. Both are so so.
The first on I got off of ebay. They made it sound like the end caps were metal. Which they are not they are cheap looking plastic. But it's ok
The second one I got from Amazon. I like it but don't think it has much drop protection. Thin thin thin.
I got the Spigen Neo Hybrid, I am very happy with it so far. The tpu layer is stiffer than most tpu layers I've used before, which feels nice, and the metal trim, while thin and a bit more pliant than I would prefer, looks great. Fortunately I haven't dropped it, but it feels like it would survive most reasonable falls. It's much thinner than my wife's otter box commuter and only $15 on amazon.
I got the Spigen ultra hybrid crystal clear case, and I live it. Have bought these before, they don't yellow and last a long time. Great for letting my dbrand Dragon skin show !!
