[Q] would OTG cable work ? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I want to buy Fire HD, but reason why i didn't done this yet is that i need to connect my MicroSD to it. I know i can do it by OTG cable, but default Kindle doesn't support it.
Would it be real, if i flash Kindle to CM10 (when it be realesed) ? I read that OTG is supported by kernel ICS and JB .
Thanks for answers

I really want to know this as well.

If this queston would see someone who already flash his fire HD to beta CM10 and try to do this :highfive:

I was looking through the source from amazon awhile ago and the drivers appear to be there, its just turned off in the current kernel. Admittedly I really know nothing about compiling anything, but it looks like it might be doable at some point in the future.

I really wonder too
dont't think you can.
Why?
May it runs with CM7, or not?
Hasn't anyone the drivers?

I started a thread some time ago about OTG issues on LGP990, AFAIK, OTG needs kernel support, and some tweak settings (software/drivers) to get working, there doesn't seems to be much dev momentum on OTG support in CM (also did feature request like a year ago on CM N1 port, the request thread was dead)
The great hacker Benee (vorkKernel-OC/UV Kernel) did mention he might have a look on OTG support, but this sure is not his current first on the list (understand and agree, and thanks Benee there! nice kernel)
I personally will be giving up the LGP990 real soon since POOR phone Q, and going for SGS2, which has the noise cancelling on calls, and the USB OTG support by default......if you are looking for OTG that seems to be the fastest way to get them....
just my 2 cents.

Sorry Tomg58, nope, I am not, Kiwi I am....
Anyway, I think I will be missing the thread, I am going SGS2 tonight and P990 will be away tomorrow for good.....
SGS 2 is too much for me.
I am a pupil and 13.
And I will buy a EEE PAD Transformer.

so last post was made more than year ago, maybe we have some good news about OTG support?
otg on optimus 2x is not possible. not enough voltage supply to the micro usb port. unless ofc u will use external power source, but thats bullcrap if you ask me, not worth it.

I've found this source code for some tegra otg... I hope it can help with OTG development for P990. I'm new to this forum, this is my first post here. BTW, I don't see any problem with external powering... when I'm on the go, I can always use usb Y cable and power it with my 5V cigarette lighter usb adapter on 12v car socket.
ttps://android.googlesource.com/kernel/tegra/+/6d1d12793f109b6d4e00fad5d3fca2130c76f463%5E%5E/drivers/usb/otg/tegra-otg.c
I'm sure p990 hardware is capable of OTG, we just need someone to enable it in the kernel, maybe just some #define stuff, and we need a rom to support it...

Basicaly it means that you can conect usb stuff to your p990 with a special cable

Ubuntu on N7 - Post your program experiences here (?)

As the title suggests. I'm interested to hear what people have installed and got successfully running the Ubuntu install on the Nexus 7. Is there a spreadsheet anywhere that outlines compatible and experiences?
Ideally, wanting to know if anyone's been using Eclipse with any other plugins (specifically anyone tried FDT would be cool)
Cheers
Keep in mind you can't run x_86 applications on an ARM device... so I don't know if eclipse will work at all, me being oblivious to whether or not they'd have an ARM version.

I see that there's an armhf Raring compile of Eclipse > https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/raring/armhf/eclipse
I suppose if you want to get even more pedantic and specific, I was ultimately wondering if you could also hook up another Android phone via OTG usb, then with Eclipse and FDT you could compile out Captive runtime Air?
I know I'll probably get shot down in flames with a "why don't you just get a laptop", and I am contemplating that too, but ideally I want/need to get a a tablet so the N7 is looking more likely. Tbh, I'll probably use Android more, but potential dual booting with Ubuntu functionality would be the icing the cake.
Been testing ubuntu using multirom. It's nice to have but I still feel that it needs to be more tab friendly and a few bugs ironed out. Boots quick and looks nice. I have also tested bohdi linux and that works well too. In time ubuntu will be a winner on the nexus 7 I think.

[Q] OTG while Charging GCam

Hey guys, any idea if this will work? Saw some otg with power from ebay. Read in nexus 7 forum that they were able to do it, was hoping it will also work with our device, but i think they used a custom kernel to be able to work, does stock samsung kernel supports this?

Sad to say it didnt work for me, i think we need to compile the kernel to enable it and make our own cable by adding 40.2k ohm resistors on ID pin

Anyone porting Ubuntu touch for atrix hd ?

And the firefox os too, although I dont think that ones out yet.
If an unlocked bootloader isn't necessary, it can be done I presume

Yeah but most likely we might be able to port it to our device as seen in other forums they were able to flash Ubuntu touch through Safestrap 3 recovery

It's based on CM 10.1 so not until that works, I would assume.

LOL, you must not be looking in the right place.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices/xt926
In a nutshell:
flash this in CWM
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to.../current/saucy-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip
and this:
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/xt926/phablet
Due to missing files, its not really a flash you would be able to use as a phone...but if you are heart set on seeing how the ubuntu touch os feels, go for it...
I am actually doing my first build with the necessary files to get everything working right now... Goal is mainly to just get radio working so I can actually use this OS as a phone. I have copious notes, so if things don't work, there were steps I skipped due to my lack of knowledge and they caused issues....So I should be able to slowly find answers and get a radio working build in time...
Will update later after this build is done and I try flashing it. Answer will probably be, did not work, but I'm trying! :good:
It did not work, though I had some good discussion on fixing the things I need to...
I'll keep working on it and post in the dev section when I have something that is working.
Booted up the build a few posts above and it's pretty damn nice!! Once everything gets won't which I'm sure it will eventually I'm definitely gonna give it a go

FTFY
Been running hashcodes build for a few weeks now
Its fun to mess around with. Battery drains pretty quick. WiFi works so that's probably why.
If anyone installs they should wipe system and factory reset before flashing.
Flash the Ubuntu phablet zip first and Hashcodes build second.

OTG support for Desire C?

I'm running CM 10.1 and was wondering if it's possible to get OTG working with it.
I was on the verge of flashing a specific kernel on my Nexus 4 for the same reason before I sold it, and was wondering if there's anything similar for the Desire C

Yes, I've got a couple of different adaptors, as well as an external USB microphone I'd like to use, it's just that there seems to be no kernel with the correct drivers built in.
Maybe I'll learn how to build kernels. Maybe not
Have you thried?

Nah, not even close. I had a look at a few tutorials, and the work the guys did using Franco kernel on the Nexus 4, but it's well out of my league,.
I also bought the cable, the female USB, just to find out that this phone doesn't support USB OTG. Please guys if anyone could find a solution that would be great! I need to be able to connect USB sticks directly to my phone!
