[Q] How do I move albums from SkyDrive to new Lumia? - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear Windows Phone Geniuses,
I have upgraded from a WP7.5 HTC Titan, to a WP8 Nokia Lumia 920. There are photo albums on my old phone and on the SkyDrive, which I would like in my WP8 Lumia. I can’t figure out how to download entire albums from SkyDrive, and install them into my device so that they are viewable independent of a data or Wi-Fi connection.
Thanks,
Dave

I think you have to click on and download them one at a time.

try to open the picture hub and wait.
my lumia loads the sky drive albums from "pictures" all into the picture hub and they are just there.. not sure about the other sky drive folders.. dont think they are synced manually

[Q] Some help please

Hi all!
I am new here...Hi! Wondering if you can help me out? I am new to to Windows Phone software (a recent Apple convert!) and am struggling a little with a couple of things:
1 - Getting the phone to appear on my computer as an external device so i can just drop some videos on to it, i have sync'd the phone to no avail!?
2 - Getting previous digital copies of films which were put onto my external HDD through iTunes, when i view them in my computer they show up with the Zune logo, then when you try to play them, it says cannot play, burn or sync this protected file code - C00D11E7. But Zune says it accepts .m4v files?!
Thanks in advance for you help!
Scott.

1 - You cannot use it as an external device. You can sync photos, videos, songs through Zune. Just open Zune, let it access the folders where you keep the stuff u want it to sync into your phone. Then through the contents, drag folders or files you want into the phone logo at the bottom left hand corner and it will sync in. The reason they do this is to minimise risks of virus or things to get into your phone I guess.
2 - Dunno about iTunes files as not an Apple fan. but i have been syncing videos in to my HD7 with no problems. I guess maybe your vids are locked by iTunes only to be played by Apple apps?

[Q] Watch Zoe on computer without using HTC share?

I've been searching for awhile but no luck...I don't want to use htc share and send my stuff to the cloud/htc site. I watched a video on the htc site saying how you can use sync manager to watch a zoe on computer using sync manager. I synced my phone with comp....In the zoe folders I created it is straight up 3 second videos and still pictures. In sync manager I click on a gallery than albums and click the play button and sync manager crashes and reloads. My computer detects HTC android device fine and the drivers successfully loaded. Has anyone been able to do this?

now that you've synced everything through htc sync look in your documents folder you should see a folder named "htc"
in that folder your see pictures/dcim and you can view your zoe photos and video in windows. No need to use htc sync
I've done that and just see standard pictures and videos...I'll just share it to dropbox and do it like that..I thought I was overlooking something very simple, doesn't seem that way
Sent from my HTC ONE using xda app-developers app

If you're talking about the highlight reel it creates when you make a zoe hit menu and click save, it will export to a mp4 in the video highlights folder under sdcard

Lol, I knew it was something simple. Been on a trip so didn't have that much time to look into it. I'll probably stick with dropbox, but def good to know. Thanks for reply!
Mods, please close thread. Thanks

don't know the app, but you can't access app media via USB. Some apps feature Wifi transfer, that's the only option I think. Or upload to Skydrive.
quote from WP Store: "Note: For PC uploads you need to download and install GetThemAll Receiver: http://x2t.com/pc-upload"

DLNA local file video player/server app for HTC 8X?

I'm looking for a video player/server app for WP8 that will allow me to play locally stored files (MP4) from my phone (an HTC 8X) onto a DLNA-capable television. So far I've not found anything that seems to be able to do this, although I thought it would be quite simple (my Nexus 7 has at least half a dozen players that can do it).
Closest I've found was Nokia Play To (set up after spoofing the store into thinking my 8X was a Nokia 925). That app runs OK, but fails to find any DLNA devices, even when connected directly to their hotspot. Also found MyMediaHub, which works fine as a DLNA controller (playing to the renderer from an external DLNA server) but can't play local files. Moliplayer can act as a local renderer (to play files from an external server on the phone via DLNA), but what I want is kinda the other way around, to play from the phone rather than to it.
Are there any players out there which can fulfil this role which will work with the 8X, or am I limited to filling my tablet up with films rather than using my phone for the job (which I'd prefer as they are on there anyway for watching whilst travelling).
The WP8.1 update is supposed to have this ability baked into the OS. Just hold out a few more days, ok a week..

It's a corporate phone, so I may have to wait slightly longer than that, knowing our IT crowd. But it's good news anyway, thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep a check on what does get released with the update, with fingers crossed
There's also Share Box from Samsung (DLNA client that can stream images/videos/music over WiFi). May require proxy trick. Not tried on a non-Samsung phone.

This one also doesn't work on HTC (I've already tried, app failed with "Media service not started" message). Looks like you're out of luck (say "thanks" to HTC for the "great support" and never buy HTC's junkphones again )
P.S. Theoretically, there is no "rocket science" in DLNA server functionality; the only showstopper I see now is the API limitations to access local videos. Hope, with WP8.1 update, some third-party DLNA servers will hit the store...

The OP needs a DLNA server, not a player (there are few DLNA players available at the store).

Not for Windows Phone 8, that is only for WP7.X: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/connected-media/d154a04b-d3ad-47dd-bfc9-a1022e409af6

As I mentioned in my first post - I tried that via a store-spoof to make it think my 8X was a Nokia 925 and serve me Nokia apps for install. The app installs and runs, but it can't find the DLNA renderer, even when connected directly to it. The webpage that details the spoof (using Fiddler2 on a PC as a proxy man-in-the-middle for the set-up process) also reported the same, that Play To installs and runs but can't detect DLNA devices.
As noted, I can find options for DLNA controllers (e.g. MyMediaHub) and DLNA players (e.g. Moliplayer), but what I'm not finding for WP8.0 is a DLNA server app that can see locally stored files. With luck 8.1 could fix this by baking it into the OS, so I will wait patiently until it filters down through our IT boys and their testing.

Since when can HD PhotoViewer not play animated gifs???????????????
Saving Animated gifs to your pc, are you serious?
Its the same procedure as any other file, via usb.
Besides that, when you have the file on your onedrive you can download it from there to your pc.

I think you dont know what living images are, take a look at it here: youtube.com/watch?v=PbH1E57LuYA#t=63
It would be easier to answer when you had said the live images took with the lumia camera
But you already found a answer.

living image can be taken with lumia camera only.
But im not satisfied with my answer there must be a way
The only way i can think of is to save all the images and bind them together with a animated gif creator on your desktop.

no this is totally different.
I have on my phone living image. There is no way to extract every frame of this living image and then glue it on PC.
I think only solution is that nokia provides fauture to export image as gif
