Ever since I updated to FRG83D I have been having a ton of force closes with various apps like: Facebook, the market, browser. As well everything seems a lot slower like bookmarks take a bit to load and Facebook just force closes when I open a picture or freezes.
I also am not being able to unlock my phone due to the touch screen not responding or the display won't turn on at all which requires a battery pull. This occurs sometimes.
Any idea what's causing this? I'm on a fully stock ATT nexus one.

I have exactly the same issues. It's actually the first time I've experienced a "frozen" touchscreen on my N1, and it's happening regularly now.
Just hoping Gingerbread fixes it
Same here with email.apk
Constant freezes or messages that the app stopped responding and whether I want to force close.
Had a few apps that did that so I uninstalled then reinstalled. Seemed to fix it.
I don't have any problem!! I use this rooted complete stock rom FRG83D.
You can try it. http://www.mediafire.com/?bd0ira8h6rdb9jm

I have tried un installing the apps that freeze but even after that they still freeze.
I honestly dont want to root my phone yet. I want to keep it stock until my warranty is over.

Just try resetting to factory default and you should be good to go! Froyo will backup all your apps so once you are back the apps will reinstall on their own. But make sure to backup app data to your SD card if the app has that kind of option (for example launcherpro, adw launcher and card star) has in app backup option. I had some sluggishness with FRG83d but now it seems smooth!

I was hoping to avoid a full reset. I also am the 2nd owner of this phone and I read that it only backs up the first Google account. But the second one won't back up apps.

That's really strange and very weird ... are you sure about that? But if you reset, it shouldn't take more than an hour and a half to fully recover. Good luck.

I did a full reset and all my apps are back. I'm hoping this fixes all the issues.

Given 4.1.1 is probably going to be the very last update for AT&T Atrix HD users (Bell guys are lucky with the 4.1.2!), what are we gonna do about this bug? Are we stuck with this problem for good?
In 4.1.1 whenever you switch your default keyboard to any other keyboard (say, SwiftKey or even Swype), the third party keyboard gets disabled on reboot and the OS will switch to the default/stock keyboard. This is not the end of problems.
There is the annoying status bar notification for changing input methods every time the keyboard opens. The only way to disable this from popping up is to have only one active input method. Given the stock keyboard cannot be unchecked in settings, the only way to have only one keyboard that you want (say, SwiftKey for example) is to freeze/disable the stock keyboard app leaving SwiftKey as the only available input method.
Normally, this would work fine. But in 4.1.1, because the OS disables the third party keyboard and tries to reset back to the default keyboard on reboot, when it can't find it, goes into a crash loop leaving factory reset from the recovery as the only option of making the phone usable.
Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this particular conundrum?
Here is the solution I have found:
-install swiftkey from market
-use titanium backup root to backup the app
-uninstall the app
-restore backup (app only)
However, this is only a workaround and every time SwiftKey app or language updates, the OS disables SwiftKey on reboot and defaults to the stock keyboard. So, don't disable the stock keyboard for now unless you want to risk a factory reset every time SwiftKey app or data updates through the market. This workaround also doesn't address the problem of having the annoying input devices prompt in the status bar every time you use the keyboard.
More ingenious ideas / suggestions welcome.

I have 4.1.1 and use swype as my keyboard. It has never once switched back to the default keyboard on a reboot. I have not having this issue at all.
I have 4.1.1 on my Atrix HD and I use SwiftKey 3. Never had this problem.

I don't have this issue, and I switch keyboards depending on the number of hands I'm using! Another friend with an Atrix HD also does not face this issue...

Did you install SwiftKey 3 from the Play Store before you upgraded from ICS to JB OTA? If yes, that is expected.
But if you installed the app afresh in JB or updated the app or language after you had upgraded to JB, you would have this problem.
Swiftkey Flow, Swype, Swype Beta 1.3, Smart Keyboard Pro...everything works fine without having the issue you're facing!

Like mentioned on the link above, a lot of people are facing. Did you install them all afresh in 4.1.1?
Try uninstalling all of them from the Play Store today, reinstall them again from the Play Store and see if it still works.

This is a confirmed issue for all paid apps in 4.1.1.
Google has, however, corrected it in 4.1.2.
Only fix is to run a custom rom.

I have both Swift and Slideit keyboards and have managed to set the slideit keyboard as the default keyboard, however whenever I turn the phone off and back on or sometimes not even that, the keyboard defaults back to the Sense keyboard. This is the first sense keyboard that I really do NOT Like at all but cannot get rid of. Is there anyone else that is having the same issue?

For some reason there was an Indic keyboard on mine. All kinds of strange symbols on the keys. And for some reason it kept turning it on. I finally disabled it in Apps which seems to have fixed the problem and my Swiftkey keboard is staying as default
I had the same issue with Swype. Fixed it by making it a system app.

Same issue in hox and hos with Jelly...
But you can resolve with a freeze of HTC_IME.apk...
In hox rom works fine
Try
I'm sure it's been asked before I can't find it. I've been using SwiftKey and love it but sometimes it'll switch back to the sense keyboard. Sometimes SwiftKey sticks for weeks and sometimes it switches every time I open the keyboard back up. Why is this? Maybe because SwiftKey hibernates because of greenify?

Could be. I'm using SwiftKey as well and I am stock and unrooted - no problem. SwiftKey will stick until I change to Sense keyboard.

If you hibernate SwiftKey(greenify) , it won't stick. Otherwise it should be working perfectly normal
Alright, I unhibernated it. Let's see if this helps.

I have had this keyboard problem for as long as I can remember. Lived with it for a while but it is driving me nuts and I need to fix it.
The default input method always reverts to the stock keyboard. I much prefer SwiftKey but cannot get it to remain as the default after selecting it.
After setting SwiftKey as the default it works for a few minutes while I test typing in a couple apps. Then I will need to type something and the stock keyboard had gone back to being the default.
I am rooted stock only and don't see any apps that have been disabled that look to be the culprit.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I cannot live with the stock keyboard any longer.
Help please!
Have you tried freezing it? I've totally uninstalled the stock keyboard, no issues.

I could not disable it but that's a great idea. I just used root explorer to rename the apk and it seems to work great.
Thank you very much. I should have thought of that.
