Hey Guys,
I want to install the stable release of CM9, but I'm on Criskelo v9 right now.
Do I need to do anything before I flash the CM9 ROM or can I just go to recovery, wipe, and install the new ROM?
Thanks!

As far as you are on a safe kernel (notecore/speedmod) you can go cwm wipe and flash cm9/10 that's it

Hey msedek, I'm not too familiar with kernels, could you please elaborate.
current kernel:
3.0.15 - N7000XXLRG-CL811902
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Wed Jul 4 00:57:35 KST 2012
Is that a safe kernel?
Thank you.
It is a stock kernel and not safe, use notecore or speedmod.

Thanks jeetu.
Mind showing me or a link on how to go about doing doing this? Or should I just go back to GB route?
Or any link with similar situation as mine, and proper procedure to go about it.
Thanks again.

Hi guys,
Now I had no problems flashing a custom ROM on my HTC Desire but my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 is causing me a huge headache
I would like to flash Jelly Bean but I'm struggling.
My Note is rooted and I have purchased Mobile Odin off the Play store, using Mobile Odin has not resulted in a successfull flash, yet. lol
What's even more confusing is that the kernel version on my Note has changed but no visible settings can be seen.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Stefan
1. How are you flashing in mobile Odin?
2. What rom are you trying to flash?
3. What exactly happens?
4. Are you sure you have full root (DL an app from play store to check)?

nice one..
what rom are you from.. if you have root then install ClockWorkMod and flash Safe kernel such as Speedmod 3-15 and Hydracore,, after flashing safe kernel go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash Custom Rom.

Is ClockWorkMod safe with Samsung Note on ICS?
Depends which kernel, you need a non stock kernel to be completely safe.

Rom is the platform itself, Kernel governs all the hardware. Simply put

Rom flash usually includes kernel, then flash required kernel after.

Ok I think I understand.
What ROM would you recommend for tge Samsung Galaxy Note N7000?
Appreciate your help.
You obviously really need to do some reading before flashing anything. Start with the stickies.

Use an older hydracore like 4.3 or notecore v14
I wouldn't know, maybe someone else can help...

but changing from v7 is a Lil tricky. not as easy as it is with other kernels. you need a revert zip from hydracore thread

when you directly revert from v7, the phone will not boot properly.. so you need to use the revert zip file.. flash that first and then the new kernel.
how will I reinstall hydracore v7??
as you do any other kernel...

ohh how if i want to go to Philz? what will i do?
uhm like this I am currently using Hydracore v7 and i want it to change to Philz
do i need to use a specific program to do that task?
yes.. then you need to first flash the revert zip and then the philz kernel..
the zip file is in the hydracore thread.. a rapidshare link in the last 3-4 pages

u only need root for mods. no need to unlock the bootloader.
If it is a flashable zip you need a custom recovery indeed. Besides most mods only work with deodexed roms I think.
