Brand new N4 just fell off counter and..... - Nexus 4 General

....nothing happened. Actually it was on top of my microwave on my kitchen counter. I just got it a few days ago and still waiting for bumper cover to arrive. It slid off the top of my flat surface microwave, bounced off my counter top and landed on my tile floor. Found it face down. It made quite a bit of noise on the way down and initially had no idea it was my phone causing all the racket. I cringed as I picked it up but didn't find a single blemish on it. No bump, bruise, crack or scratch. Just figured I'd share this since so many other people were so eager to share their nightmare drop stories with their new phones. Hopefully this will make a few of you breath a tiny bit easier about the integrity of the phone.

Dang, lucky you!

Probably fell on the bezel and absorbed most of the shock then landed on the face . Still that's good!

Thread closed. I know you just want to give the other side of a drop story but the same way with those threads, if everyone posts everytime they drop their phone (good or bad) the forum would be completely overloaded with them.
Thanks

I got one about 4 months ago
Its great for me keeps the phone firmly in position for many hours at a time and only on a few occasions has it fell off.
Well worth the couple of £'s spent imho
But does it vacuum strong enough with the not smooth surface we have at the battery cover ? cause the iPhone 4 has glass in the back.
LMAO thats a great little thing to have. Even if it does not work well I would like to have one just for kicks. :]
hahaha!!! this thing its funny!! i think it will hold well on the steel surface on the back !!
Its just a $1 in focalprice.com with free shipping but you have to bear with the 2 weeks delivery time as it ships from HK.. Also it doesn't hold my HD2 for long.. My HD2 has a shiny back as I have full body Zagg shield..

Battery door smudge proofing/texturising possible?

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for making the back cover of my i9000 less oily?
I have been using a case for a long time partly because my galaxy back constantly gets oily from my hands, but I really want to go slim and case-free now!
EDIT: might see if i can track down some of this plasti-dip stuff http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881062
i think a replacement back cover is your best bet
unless you go through the hassle of sanding it down, buffing it up, smoothing it out, painting it... Not worth it, get a new cover. loads to choose from

Thanks, looks nice!
I had the same problem with hands sweating holding was quite risky. I bought a silicon rubber cover with rough dotted surface which gives you good grip & no marks on the back plate.
Well, you can always put grip tape on it. That will solve the slippery issue and the fingerprint issue.
But it might make a hole in your pocket

HTC One Sliding Apart!

I've just noticed the front layer of my One is sliding away form the body below. Imagine the top layer is the screen and speaker grilles, the middle layer the white band and the bottom the layer the body.
The top layer has twisted slightly and you can see the top two layers are not quite in line. In the bottom corner the middle layer is slightly exposed.
Unfortunately, I don't have anything to take pictures to show.
Has anyone heard of this problem before? I'm thinking it can only get worse.
Thanks
Take a picture in the mirror, i would definitely like to see this.
This is weird. Need to see this
Never heard of a phone doing like this

I don't know exactly what you are talking about, but the phone is held together with adhesives so I don't doubt it. please take pictures.
Sadly, I'm travelling at the moment so can't get the pics everyone is craving . As soon as I found a decent camera, I'll put something up
In for nud..... I mean pics

Click to collapse
Thats a flaw not a feature, i'd be annoyed, what if one of the doors come off and you get water damage ? OR the screen breaks.
This probably happening in the pocket as most will out the phone screen towards the leg and top up all them phone were bent the same. It looks like they been bent in the owners front pocket tight jeans maybe sitting in class what have you as this phone is long the tightness in most pockets for something that long when person is siting down and getting up could easily course this

Disassembling P7

Overall I'm really impressed with the build quality, but I have one annoying issue. Somehow dust comes in through the back and now I have massive amounts of dust in front of my camera, and all pictures I take look horrible.
I checked with warranty, and I have to pay €8 to ship the phone, and then probably wait 2 weeks to get is back, so I am considering to clean it myself, it seems like a 10 minute job.
Has anyone here removed the back of their P7? Does the adhesive still work well when assembling the back again?

i do that change my self
and all works good
Hey, me too. No problems so far, all went fine. Good luck!
That wasn't hard indeed. 2 minutes with the hairdryer, some breadclips/tooth picks/guitar picks and you're in.
I did notice that there was barely any adhesive near the camera and the bottom of the back cover doesn't stick very well any more.
Is there some suitable glue to improve the cover fastening, that also melts when heated?
A friend told me that the clue which is used for car-windows has the same characteristics, but I didn't try actually.. So, I'm quite not sure if that works also.
