Like, this isn't even funny anymore. My phone is bricked and I've used the Jig. Now it doesn't even go to the download screen, it just skips to a Galaxy S Gt-i9000 screen and when I try to run Odin one click - it gets stuck on File Analysis.
/Worst brick ever
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW??!?!??

Okay, your phone is obviously getting to the stage that it can receive commands (seeing as Odin can recognize it). Download ADB (android debug bridge). I'm not going to go into a tutorial now. Ask if you need one, I'll write one.
Once you have that downloaded and installed, go to the directory containing adb.exe and type "adb reboot download" without the quotes. Your phone should reboot into download mode.
Edit: Found this standalone ADB file, in case you don't want to download and install the whole SDK. Props to velnens123.
BTW; I'm assuming you already have drivers for your phone installed. If not, this will not work, nor will pretty much anything else.

Fingers crossed. Hope this works. :X
EDIT
"Device not found"
The drivers, I'm assume are the ones you need to mount the phone right?

Never heard that one before, but don't think that's possible. Some of the guides I've read suggest placing the resistors on the outside places of the usb port, not on any specific prong. Regardless, if his computer recognizes the phone (which it does... Odin can see it), then ADB should work perfectly.

Those are the ones you need. Dunno if you have x64 or x32 Windows, but that file should have both.
Also, be sure to run ADB more than once. If you get Device Not Found, do not close the command prompt window, try unplugging and replugging the phone and wait for Windows to make it's hardware detected noise, then try again.
Yeah, the jig needs to be on pins 4&5, closest ones to headphone port iirc. Never had to use one personally but pretty sure that is what I've read.
jig can and will turn your phone in if the wrong prongs are touched
Thread is getting off topic; there are more than three posts about the same fix without a reply from the OP. Give it a rest...
Anyway, any proper jig should, should, be made with an actual mini USB, not just shoving the resistors into the phone, though it would work, it's just a lot less safe.
I have to agree with every one. I have had to make and use a jig. Sense I had it i tested all the how to's here and if you are not touching the right pins in the port (i highly suggest using a USB plug in) then all it will do is turn it on. They have to be touching pins 4 & 5 otherwise it will just boot up

RGHHHHHHHH!!
I hear the sound that window makes when it detects the device, but ADB command prompt says error device not founddd.
Trust me, it's not the Jig, I've gotten it to start up to this screen 10 times with the closest to the jack.

Have you fixed it yet?
I bricked my captivate pretty badly about 1.5 months ago too but i built a jig and fixed it. It doesn't sound like you've done that yet, though...
If i were you I'd build a jig and make sure the pins and resistances are correct and try again. I've heard the resistance from the skin on your fingers can affect it enough that it not work.
I attached a picture showing which pins to connect on a micro-usb "plug in"
Good luck,
Eric

I made a jig, just not with the USB one. :S
I'll probably just buy one off of Ebay for simplicity's sake and lack of interest of wasting more time. I spent more time :/
Can anyone here tell me how C-fone is?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-Galaxy-...Cell_Phones&hash=item230d45e4ec#ht_546wt_1156
He seems legit to me, but I just want other member feedback to make sure.
I've sold to quite a few on here for what it's worth.

Never bought a jig... never really had to (I just got mine replaced under thirty days). I can't give feedback on someone I've never bought from, though he seems to have some considerable rep (positive feedback). I can recommend though, this http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/blog/?page_id=100
Though for considerably more ($13.00), I can guarantee that that one will work.

The touchscreen is supposed to basically turn itself into a trackpad like you'd get on a laptop.
Is there a mouse pointer on your TV display at all?
Yes it is supposed to become a track pad... accept when it was on GB on GB the screen was just black and needed an external pointing device... although I am sure that you have upgraded to at least ICS...

Hi all..
so I have this strange issue: my phone is constantly rotating even though i have disabled the screen rotation setting.
I noticed this when i tried to charge my phone on a different cable from my friend, so after pluggin in -> my phone entered 'Car mode'. Since then my phone likes to rotate, or even set my phone calls on speaker which is annoying aswell. Its like it never left this 'car mode', even though i deactivated it.
I even flashed different ROMs, wiped data / cache / dalvik / system. But this issue seems to overcome what ever i try.
Any1 had this issue aswell or knows how to fix this?
Many thanks!

clean your phone's USB port, must be some debris stuck in there making it think it's connected to the car charger

usually compressed air can should do it, a toothpicker could cause more damage.
maybe the port is damaged

okay, i cleaned the port now with a toothpick.. and wow, there was a lot of dust in it!
but even if its the port... shouldnt there be a message that the phone is actually in this car mode?
i installed an app that can switch between car mode and normal mode, but it seems like the phone was all the time in normal mode, but just with those symptoms from car mode.
meh...

don't actually know , i never used car mode
so i found a solution.. if anyone ever has this problem aswell here is how i fixed it:
navigate to /system/framework/framework-res.apk and copy this to your computer.
decompile the apk with e.g. APKTool (there are others too)
modify the file framework-res/res/values/bools.xml
find the following lines and modify the value 'true' to 'false'
Code:
<bool name="config_deskDockEnablesAccelerometer">false</bool>
AND
Code:
<bool name="config_carDockEnablesAccelerometer">false</bool>
recompile the source and put it again to /system/framework/framework-res.apk
This atleast fixed the rotation issue... I dont really care about those car/dock modes anyway, so im good if they dont rotate in those modes..
Hey guys!
I'm, currently running Maximum OvrDriVE v7.1.1.
So, I dropped my phone and my lcd is out, but somehow the glass and my tempered glass didn't crack one bit haha!
Anyways, can someone walk me through the process of enabling ADB using the recovery?
I'm currently using TWRP, I'm not sure if TWRP responds to volume controls but if I need to install clockwork so I can navigate the menus thats fine.
And remember, my screen is out so I can't see anything. I just need someone to walk me through the process of what sequence of buttons to press in order to flash a zip file, using clockworkmod recovery.
If someone can do that let me know what version you're running of the recovery so we can make sure our keypresses are the same.
If someone though can explain an easier way to enable ADB without having a screen let me know please, thanks!
ps. I can already access my internal SD, i just need ADB to backup my apps. Thanks!
Use an hdmi cable so you can use your tv as monitor. Hopefully the touch screen still works so you navigate.

I have a broken lcd too, and this.. is a smart idea
As far as I can tell, my touchscreen still works.
And I hope that HDMI could work but I'm not certain if it would. But that's a good idea.
My son has smashed his p20 pro, the screen is totally dead. I'm kind of new to this stuff, how can we get his photos videos etc off the phone? As far as I know it has stock software on it.
Thanks
Use Vysor, google it, it allows you pc/mouse access to whatever you CANT see on your broken screen.

Thanks for that, I've downloaded and run it, looks like he hasnt enabled usb debugging on his phone, so I'm still stuck
Have you tried a fone to hdmi lead in order to possibly see phone screen on a tv/monitor?

I'm trying to get hold of one now, I've been reading other threads and it seems like a good option!
With that lead you only need to enable usb debug, then Vysor all the way
