This is a build of CM10.1 I compiled with my favorite tweaks included. You can expect better performance of the overall ROM, better audio, better battery life(coming soon), and improved overall user experience.
Features
initial build
Code:
franco.Kernel
mohit1234's camera tweak
BEATS+XLOUDER! 4.2.1 JB Louder Audio Improvement Patch
Seeder for lag correction
Custom Nexus Boot Animation
All your favorite CM10.1 features
MORE COMING SOON! PM with suggestions to add to the next build
What Works
Everything to my knowledge
What doesn't work
PM me any issues, so far everything is good.
Credits
Boot Animation by sonnysekhon designed with wallpaper from evilisto.
Camera Tweak by mohit1234
Thanks to Misledz for the Beats+Xlouder!
franco.Kernel from franciscofranco
And Finally Seeder from Turbotab
Seeder Disclaimer
I know there has been a lot of controversy lately about if Seeder actually does anything productive. With my tests I see vastly improved performance, and no change with my battery life, so I have included it in the ROM. But, just to appease the crowd, I only installed the APK version so it has to be enabled by the user by clicking on the app and running it. Also because of this, it can easily be deleted if the user doesn't want it on their device.

For the initial build, yes, currently working on my own battery improvements to be implemented in the next build, this is a rom that yes basically implements all the best tweaks for the nexus in with CM, essentially a one-stop-shop.
If you implement Sweep2Wake, and roll back the touch screen drivers to get better sensitivity this would totally be my daily driver

Yeah, it'd be great if you could build on the franco kernel and just implement the sweep2wake feature. I was contemplating doing it myself.
From what I can see, it is just simple addition of 2 files and modification of 4 files in the source and then building the kernel.
Here is the link:
https://github.com/mathkid95/linux_lg_jb/commit/eed8a6b4e371454be5e0107b4631d7425fbe6329
EDIT:
Another minor modification which faux committed after talking to showp1984, probably fix some minor issues that others were facing:
https://github.com/faux123/mako/commit/ee367c56abfaf69347e22bc3ebe144508a8b622d
Also please consider navbar modifications to be implemented into your modified CM ROM.

Here is a youtube video showing what sweep2wake does [essentially no need to use the power button anymore to wake up/sleep you device] :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RtmxlnikTiQ
You can have this by flashing custom kernels such as bricked which support it. [Some custom kernels like franco, trinity don't]

That's right. In general that seems to be the opinion of most experienced xda devs as well as the google dev team. [someone had raised a bug report in which a google engineer responded].
The general theory seems to be that, it is either a complete placebo effect or is happening because the constantly running app causes the phone to be locked on to higher cpu speeds thus reducing lag. [ to which supporters will say that it is working even via other methods not requiring an app to be constantly running and is not affecting the battery in any way].
But, I guess OP firmly believes. So, to each his own, I guess.

Waste of what? If you are talking about power, this doesn't consume much power [1-2% max I guess] as unlike an app it is implemented into the kernel. Plus it's really nice to not use the power button everytime to switch off/sleep the device. To each his own.
Well, in the next build would you guys rather me just replace the kernel with the bricked kernel? I've been testing it with this rom and I think it works amazingly. The other option is I could attempt to build sweep2wake directly into the franco kernel... Would take more time. Which do you guys think?

I think it would be great if you can build the sweep2wake over the franco kernel. Franco is generally more stable and arguably having better battery life according to many users.

I'd keep Franco kernel. I've heard of an app that allows the sweep to wake function so you wouldn't even have to waste your time with it. Anyone that can't be bothered to hit the power button could just enable it via the app.

That app, PGM isn't working on Nexus 4. I contacted the developer, who said that he has been working on it, but is not sure whether he'll be able to add support for Nexus 4 ever. There are other/less reliable [doesn't work that well] alternatives which use proximity sensor [in which case, i may as well press the power button, as the primary motive is to do everything one handed from bottom of scren; plus doesn't work well for me and many others; not sure about battery drain as well as proximity sensor will be always on, i think]
This has made it onto my phone, and I haven't instantly gone back to stock/rooted. That is a good thing!
Right now this ROM wins!

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, they change two lines in your build.prop file which you could easily edit yourself in seconds and maybe throw a keyboard in there to make it work better. It's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank. Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. we're calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.

FAQ & Help - Read before asking!
Go to Settings, System, Font size, set it to NORMAL
Launcher Settings: margins: SMALL (If youre using Apex / Nova), show permanent searchbar: YES, Grid: 5x4, resize all widgets: YES, Wallpaper scrolling: OFF
If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Fixed tablet mode
v1.5 / RLS 1 - My edits are in RED
Built from source - 25/6/2012 - 11:3:12
Removed AROMA installer, now using CM kernel, you can install any AOSP kernel
Improvements on OTA app, scheduled checkups
Improvements on Backup app, now it automatically launches on startup after you install a newer (or older) version
Hybrid speedup, less lag, considerably faster list scrolling when pad/pal is in action
Keyboard scaling, an androids first
PAD/PAL bugfixes for apps that still crop images in lower DPIs
Settings revamp, speed preferences to switch between modes without having to set up anything, less clutter
Trebuchet extras: 3x4 widgets, speed dial menu button, ... and some weird rocket button which im sure will be very useful to most of you
Pad.prop revamp, new preferences that should pretty much nail it. I'm sorry but this trashes your old settings again, do not attempt to restore them unless you do it in a text editor
Removed soft rendering
Fixed calls
Booted for the Inc
How often will this ROM be updated?
I will stay updated with the CM9 nightlies as well as the Paranoid Android releases. This means that if there is a significant update to the CM9 nightlies I will rebase the ROM so that it is current. If there is also an update to PA then I will incorporate those fixes AND rebase the ROM to the CM9 nightly.
Something went wrong! Can you help me?
I'd love to help you, but I need a little more information about your issue. You should provide us with information regarding what your issue causes and what you did before the issue started. However, before asking me and the community, ask yourself two simple questions:
Can I reproduce the error?
Have I looked for a solution?
If you answered "yes" to both of these questions and came up empty handed, then post it in the thread and it will be addressed.
Can you add *this* to the ROM?
Although we are not obligated to add anything and everything to the ROM, we will do our best to supply your desires and live up to your expectations. Do not mistake this for a guarantee. We would like to do everything, but we may not be able to.
I'm experiencing some force closes, what gives?
Boot into recovery and fix permissions. Then reboot.
I love this ROM, can you do more projects like this?
Yes, I can do more porting projects. If you find any other AOSP ICS ROMs that you want ported, let me know.
My battery life sucks. What gives?
HWA (hardware acceleration) is sucking the battery life out of the ROM.
Where can I go for information about the latest updates?
You can follow me on Twitter
Hell yeah can't wait to check this out!

Yeah. It's a CM9 based ROM that allows you to switch between phone and tablet mode which gives you the opportunity to use tablet apps and view apps as how a tablet would display them. It also gives you the possibility of adding customizable onscreen buttons like the GNex. And a lot more...
Hmm.. sounds interesting.
Might it come with your battery mod?

Great, looking forward to it.
Also just so everyone knows, this is beyond dpi.. you can manage a super small sleek look while your apps can be set at different dpi sizes.
You won't find this in the market my friends, this is the real deal.
On a side note.. is there a good working kernel? Flashed Invisibleks kernel and its draining fast.
Edit: looks like jelly bean is all the Rage right now, almost every front topic is saying jelly bean.
Curious how well it will work on our phone, I've read it included various tweaks to certain parts of ICS.

They are not "little things"
The phone has issues with audio for some users, and issues with sleep mode for others.
Battery life is not too good so far. Keyboard issues. Camera doesn't work.
You're underestimating the huge work devs are doing on this by saying that there are no mayor issues.
There's a LOT of work required to fix this "little things", as you call them, and you don't seem to even know enough to understand how much work that is.
You should learn some respect.
Once the kernel is stable some one is going to take the time to overclock the phone, that's for sure. Until then you should wait patiently and use the spare time to learn a little. Maybe that way you can even help the community.
All your questions are answered in the dev thread, read about it there (mentions a few places why this kernel is already overclocked even...)

Don't try explaining anything to this guy, many of us have tried, but there's no use.
He just either wants to see the "1200" number on his settings, or he wants to feel like a "0mg l33t h4x0r" or something like that, because all he seems to care about is overclocking. Even tho' the rom he's trying to overclock is still in alpha stage and the developers are logically focused on getting it to a complete state before getting to OC ( if they ever get to that )
He'll just dismiss whatever you say talking like the whole comunity is begging for OC or talking like he's leading cutting edge innovation, while neither of those are true.

He's not even using a Kexec based rom. Its hard to tell, because the font he uses causes eye cancer, but he's using a OC 2.3 moto kernel.
His argument is moot. We are arguing about space flight and he's arguing that his tricycle has tassles, which we already know about. If its not kexec, it doesn't matter. Let him play with his tassels.

Wow, looks like there's quite an explosion of MIUI all of a sudden. I used MIUI to death wayyy back in the Nexus One days, and now it looks like it's gonna happen all over again
Edit: just realized this is my post 666 after mentioning death in my post scary!
This is nice! I'm just going to play with this on my Exhibit II.
Congrats, guess we know why CM7 is on the back burner (or is it?). You've been working bigger & better things! Good luck with this. It's nice that more choices are popping up everywhere.

it is not on the back burner per say it just got to the point where i was so frustrated with it i needed a new project. with cm7 i have went back to another kernel source that has no green camera and i fixed the head phone detection in the kernel its self but on the down side that fix broke the power button but all in due time i guess. but on the up side working with that rom has made me more knowledgeable of the building of android

If you can get a JB ROM going like this than by all means stick with it. CM7 has a lot of great points in terms of speed but it's still GB. It's safe to say the majority of users want JB anyway although I look for a happy medium of speed, function & OS. Finding that medium has been quite the odyssey for me!

vsync isnt a rom issue its a kernel issue...thats where all the speed and butter from jb is
no i understood you said you were gonna use it to see if you can get it to fix the vsync issue i was just letting you know it wouldnt
Smart guy is correct we need 3.0 kernel for the full butter experience
Sent from my S2 CM10 from Team Chopsticks
we need 3.0 kernel and a lot of hack work to get vsync going.....which is what i am working on
yea and if we could actually enable vsync from what jb did to my s3 was increase scores around 2000 points...i went from 5900 to 8000 with my s3 and no oc kernel

I remember there was a line you can add to build.prop to achieve what's similar to enabling vertical sync, I think it was "debug.gr.swapinterval=1". I'm sure it's more complicated than doing just that though.

The value is "0" for that line but it only works with GB based ROMs. It boosted Antutu graphic scores but made scrolling look s****y. Ended up not worth the trade off but looked like a great tweak back in the summer.
So to my understanding we download it by clicking building one? And no gapps required because its built in?

What is ChameleonOS?
"Chameleon OS (or ChaOS for short) is a custom Android ROM that gives the user more control than they can experience on any other Android ROM. Starting with a CyanogenMOD base, we customize each piece to give ultimate control while maintaining the simplicity we all love about Android. The most notable feature of ChaOS is the theme engine, which can apply different pieces of themes in a true mix-and-match style. The launcher has been completely overhauled with tons of options that you'd normally need to download a third-party launcher for, such as home screen previews, folder sorting, and folder icon styles. The Messaging app has also had some UI retouches, including messaging bubbles and quick emoji button," (http://www.chameleonos.org).

Installation Instructions:
1.) download ROM and gapps and put them on your SD (internal or external)
2.) boot into recovery (TWRP it's better)
3.) wipe data, cache and dalvik
4.) flash ROM and gapps
5.) reboot and let it sit for 5-10 min
6.) enjoy!
7.) I am hearing great things about NOS so, If you want to use it go HERE:
8.) Camcory's latest kernel (included here) has OC, set to default ondemand 1.4 ghz. If you don't like this, tap the build number 7 times in settings>about phone. This will enable developer settings,so now you have Performance mode, where you can change the clock speed.

This is one sweet looking ROM. Cosmetically it has them all beat. Also note the OC kernel has new governors, "adaptive" and "hyper". Boot time is very fast. Overall performance I'll know better later on after I try a few things. Nice work here Apant. Hope you get your "Team Insomnia" banner soon!
Newer Gapps here if anybody wants them:

Question did anyone figure out how to enable messaging bubbles can't find it in the settings. Also every time I go into widgets it let view the first 3 pages then the launcher stops is this just me or can anyone confirm this? I wiped everything before installing twice fixed permissions fixed a lot of fc after wiping and installing the second time.
Is this what you mean by text bubble? Once again I'm not sure why yours force closes, but this project is very early only version 0.6 so I'm sure it will improve and right now my computer is occupied but when I try to build for the my touch 4g I'll get an update. If you want to see what's changing in the sources check here github.com/chameleonos

OK after a normal days use, have to say while I love the ROM's interface it's not near as fast as Baked. A lot of my apps were slow to respond and I got a lot of "... isn't responding" while using them. I tried using different governor's with the CPU, and no other tweaks besides NOS were used. Just like I did with Baked. I don't know if this has anything to do with the kernel, the NOS script, the ROM or all three.
Anyway each person may have a different experience depending on that they use and so forth. Still a nice ROM. BTW another positive I got was battery life seemed slightly better while the screen was on & apps were used. Can't confirm for sure as I didn't compare everything.
As you say, theApant, it's early days for this ROM, and I like it! I was wondering if anybody else has tried swapsd with this ROM. It's not that it doesn't work, or I can't access one of the SD cards. I get a ' system ui has stopped ' error every other reboot, and freezes and one random reboot. All problems disappear when not using swapsd.
It's no big deal, I use NFS most wanted for testing ROMs, which requires using swapsd. I have slim and baked nandroids if I need to game. Just wondering if anyone else had similar issues.

Android 4.3.1 - ParanoidAndroid 3.99 RC2
I just wanted unaltered Paranoid Android for my tablet like I have on my phone, but it wasn't available. So, after some hair pulling, and some very gracious guidance from HumberOS and Androguide.fr I built it from source. I've been running it for 3 days now, and haven't noticed anything except the menu soft-button doesn't appear on some apps, but that is an app issue not the ROM, so without further Ado:
Screenshots Attached
And here is are the download links for both devices (make sure to download your device):
AOSPA 3.99-RC2 FW:4.3.1
-MIRROR-
older build: AOSPA 3.69 FW:4.2.2 no GT-N8000 - MIRROR
GApps - MIRROR 1 - MIRROR 2
GApps are not my work, I am merely listing them here for convenience.
WHAT WORKS:
Everything so Far including the S-pen (hence the use of the word Everything).:silly:
BUGS:

MANY MANY THANKS got to:
ParanoidAndroid Team
CyanogenMOD Team
HumberOS

(hopefully thats all if I forgot anybody whose work got rolled in, PM me and I'll add you)
..and of course thanks to anybody who chooses to hit the donate button!!!:highfive:
my source code is here
ParanoidAndroid source code
I am also building for th GT-N8000 before anyone asks it will be at the above link in a few days.
If you like to play with "developer options", go to "About Tablet" in settings and tap build number 7 times to unhide the option,
but it is not necessary for any normal function.
ALL SOUND ISSUES FIXED!!! Now compatible with Awesome Beats v5+
I will be updating ONLY for security updates and version updates. There will be NO NIGHTLY builds. I want to stay married! LOL
Updated to latest version as of 10/27/2013
PLEASE!!!!!! NO PM's ABOUT COMPATIBILITY OR QUESTIONS!
THIS FORUM IS FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS and the other users can and often will answer your questions faster than I will. Also I ONLY have the GT-N8013 so asking me if it works on any other version of the note 10.1 is futile. I support the N8013 and N8000 because there is official support at Cyanogenmod for them which is what most of PA is based on. any other N80xx device may or may not work. Try if you want it is your risk. If it works I am glad I could give you PA as well and others would love to know SO POST.
Most things seem to work fine but I had no sound.

What flashing process did you use, so that others might follow? Did you do a complete wipe, or just flash over an existing ROM. Several people are telling me they have no sound. I am checking the source code now to find the bug, but a work around would be nice in the meantime.

Sound issue
@Tattoo_Paul,
Sorry for delay.
I will check the sound issue today later.
Btw, nice work dude!
Congras!
------------------
Edited:
I saw that you solved it!
Nice!
Sound IS working on all build!
Sound is working on all n8013 builds now! Redownload the rom. If you have no sound you have an old copy of the rom.
As for the n8000 builds showing a question mark for the battery, its a kernel issue, that should be resolved shortly.
As for n8010 compatibility, I DON'T KNOW! Usually n8013 and n8010 roms are mostly compatible, but I take know responsibility for your device should you choose to flash this rom.
Just for the knoeledge base, the sound issue was caused by a misnamed file. system/etc/sound should contain a file named n8013 (or n8000) when compiled it was named GT-N8013. Rename it to n8013 (with lowercase n) and all sound turns on. If that doesn't turn on all your sound, you have other issues not caused by this rom.
Paul
I hope that clears things up, Because people keep PMing me asking sound works now. I thought the big bold red letters saying sound works would do it.
Halo is a pain if you accidently turn it on

Battery display issue
I am experiencing the same issue with the display of the battery..
As you mentioned that this is a kernel issue, will it be a workaround to flash another kernel or am I wrong ?
Cheers !
BTW : testing the ROM, so only this little glitch noticed for now... SOUND IS WORKING (in case people still do not know...)
My issue with the new build is that nav bar at the bottom is like a centimeter big, no joke. Also the keyboard fcs on boot. Idk if I installed wrong or what, some input would be awesome. Also, question. When installing, it says "installing update". Does that mean we can flash the new builds over the previous ones?

Don't know if this is related, but on my GS3 I installed a 4.2 gapps on a 4.3 CM 10.2 rom and had wonky problems like that. Make sure you are using a 4.3 gapps. Especially F/C keyboard issues. Only problem I am having with this rom is the battery percentage not working.
