For restoring to stock 2.1.1 from ,
1- you should use an application called flash tools(~70 mb)
for flashing also you have to download stock firmware from internet too.(200 mb) simply put frimware file (.ftf extension) into "firmware" folder of flashtools (not sure really about name)
Start flashtools & click the lightening icon" press flash mode" & simply flash stock from by pressing next & attaching the device just like the instructions.
2-for flashing custom roms you have to:
Place rom(in zip extension) to sdcard then go to recovery ( turn on the device, keep pressing "back" button when you see Sony Ericsson logo)
In new page( i mean recovery ) press full wipe/ factory reset (this will remove your data such as apps, contacts,SMS, etc)(& will not erase sdcard)
Then press" install zip from sdcard" & choose your rom ,press on it & it will install automatically
sent using" ultimate - ics - standard"

You can do it in jay-z-s's way but a better way will be to use Sony Ericsson Update Service. You can download it from here:
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Then run the program and connect your phone to the computer and follow the on-screen instructions. Dont worry it will only tell you select your phone model etc.Its more user friendly than the other method.
OR
Download the stock rom for X8 from your computer and put it on the SD card of your phone and go in to recovery and choose"Install .zip from SD card" and navigate to your stock rom's .zip file and install it.

so i just simple conect the phone to the computer and use the program and i will get my android to V2.1.1 or V2.2? (sorry for the question is that i have really no idea with this)

If you are using SE's update service just connect your phone through USB cable. The service will identity your phone automatically. Go through the instructions listed there and you will be back to stock rom again.
To get in flashmode do the following : 1) Press and hold the power button at the top of the Xperia X8 to power the unit off.
2) Press and hold the "Back" button, while connecting the X8 to a computer via a mini USB cable. Continue to hold down the "Back" button until your phone is recognized by your application.
Or you can flashtool method by following the instructions given here : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011071
:good:

if i use SE's update service will my custom bandbase and kernel change back to their stock version too? cuase i found out that my 3G problem is one of those not the rom so i was wondering how to bring them back to thier stock kernal and bandbase cause i only get 2G and i really cant do much with that

Yes after using SEUS , the baseband and kernel will revert back to stock.
I think there's also a guide about changing basebands and such. Search for it if you need specific basebands...

[Q] installing Gingerbread from stock 2.1

Hi team!
Im new to this, may i ask..
Am i able to go from stock 2.1 straight to 2.3.3 by following this guide....
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-install-xxjvo-android-2-3-3-gingerbread-rom-on-your-galaxy-s/
Or will i encounter problems? do i need to go to 2.2 first?
Has anyone got the skills to give me some answers? if so thanks!
I didn't look at that guide in particular, it's like when someone does your homework for you... but it is possible to go straight to 2.3.. If your worried just go to 2.2 first...
that is all
Yeah, sure! With Odin, you can goo from any version to any version back and forth - a lot of people even use stock 2.1 to get a clean install before flashing something new, so don't worry. Just use a stock JVO version with bootloaders (there should be "Sbl" in the name of the PDA file). I alway flash stock ROMs with pit file and checked repartition - just 1) get in Odin and mount PDA (with bootloaders), Phone and CSC,also mount the pit file and check repartition, 2) turn off you phone and after that get in Download mode (Volume up+menu button+Power button), 3) connect the phone to your pc and hit start button in odin
Do not forget to take out sim card and memory card before flashing

2.Double click to extract I9000XXJVO<--Example
3.Open ODIN. (And close Kies, if you have it open. It is important to have ODIN open BEFORE connection the phone via USB!)
4.Select the PDA,pit,Modem,CSC file in Odin.
5.Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
6.Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
7.When the drivers are installed, click Start.
8.The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up. (Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!)
9.You have successfully flashed your phone.

X8 not booting

Hello,
I just broke my SE X8 after attempt of installing MiniCM7.
Basically, after removing battery to make my phone shut down, then starting it, all I get is "Sony Erricson" logo and nothing further, everything stops at "Sony Erricson" logo, I tried pressing "Back" to enter xRecovery and do system restore to fix everything, but I can't even get into xRecovery.
Please assist!
Did you ...
a) ... even read the 1st post in the MiniCM7 dev thread?
b) ... unlock your bootloader (WARNING! You may hard brick your phone when it's in a certain manufacturing date range) and install the required kernel?
From the symptoms you describe it doesn't seem that way.
Also (it's just being posted several hundred times) ...
XRECOVERY DOES NOT WORK ON CUSTOM KERNELS!
EDIT: I already posted how to resolve the problem HERE

See the edit in the 2nd post.
Thanks for answer!
How do I enable USB connetion if I can't get till it?
You don't need to enable "USB-Debugging"
Depending on which way you choose you ...
EDIT
a) ... need to unlock the boot loader through the required tools with the phone being in Flash-Mode
b) ... need to Flash the Kernel through Flashtool with the phone being in Flash-Mode
c) ... need to restore Stock 2.1.1 through Flashtool with the phone being in Flash-Mode
"Flash Mode" means:
- Turn the phone OFF!
- DISCONNECT the USB cable FROM your computer
- Launch Flashtool
- Select the file you want to flash
- Once Flashtool requests you to you press the Back button and KEEP IT PRESSED while you plug the USB cable into the computer.
This has nothing to do with "USB-Debugging".
Perfect!
Managed everything trough
"c) ... need to restore Stock 2.1.1 through Flashtool with the phone being in Flash-Mode"
Thank you very much!

I'll explain you, but please, use the search button before post, ok?
Download & install Flashtool. If you don't have PC Companion, also download & install it.
Shutdown your phone. Press and hold the back button, and connect the USB cable. Release back button when the LED lights green. Wait until your PC install drivers, and disconnect the USB cable.
Download nAa kernel (you'll get a ftf file). Open FlashTool.
Drag & drop the ftf file into the FlashTool window. An animation will appear. In that moment, again, press and hold the back button, and connect the USB cable. Release back button when the LED lights green.
Wait until FlashTool install the kernel (about 5 seconds).
All done, now you have nAa kernel installed. Now follow the instructions that are in the ROM post
To change the kernel, follow the same steps (from 3 to 6).

yes many time i have used it on my Galaxy Ace but that was low end phone and i don't want to mess with this phone. Its all just because of OTA update from Samsung
My question is that should i have to flashed it with Gb first if yes then which region is safe to flash it with.
P.S i have ask a friend who has flashed it from ICS to ICS of different firmware by using abssyynote kernel :S
This is what my friend told me to do is it safe ?? or can be done in this way ??
i dont need to tell you that you have to be very careful in following these steps,
although i have tried them 5 times on 5 different notes successfully still mistakes can be dangerous so be careful and follow them to the letter and take your time to read before you start
also if you can do this with a laptop its better than a pc because if the electricity cut out it could mess up the phone. its safer to have a battery, btw just as i finished this line we had a black out here lol electricity cut off for the whole block
copy AbyssNotekernel42.zip and CWM.zip to the phone
power off the phone and take the battery out to make sure its off
power it back on holding volume up + home + power to go to recovery mode
choose install zip from sdcard
select the CWM.zip and choose yes install
you will get clock work mode interface then choose install update zip from sdcard again
select AbyssNotekernel42.zip and install it
power off and remove the battery and put it back
power on holding volume up + home + power to go to recovery mode again
this time it the abyss kernel recovery and it works with the touch screen
it is safe to do a factory reset from here so do it
then power off and remove the battery again and put it in
this time power on the phone with volume down + home + power to go to download mode
start Odin on the pc then connect the phone in download mode
click on PDA and then select the rom XXLPD file "N7000JPLPD_N7000OJPLP7_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5" and click start
when the phone restarts make sure the samsung logo apears then remove the battery so that it doesnt boot up
start the phone again in download mode volume down + home + power
select the speedmod kernel file and flash it to the phone same way you flashed the rom in PDA select "speedmod-kernel-n7000-ics-k3-11-Odin.tar" then click start
when the phone restarts again remove the battery after the samsung logo apears
power on the phone into recovery again for the last factory reset volume up + home + power
do the factory reset and reboot the phone
There are a few steps missing there. I would go to the link I posted above.
First download Odin 1.85 from link A. 1
Next download pre rooted GB from A.8 and flash it using Odin under pda
Then down load lpy open German 4.0.3 which you want from B.1 and flash in PDA using Odin.
That's it your done!
You comfortable with that?

Help me rooting my sgs i9000 runnin value pack 2.3.6

Hey guys am new to dis forum and I wanna root my sgs i9000
its an indian version phone n here r d details
PDA - i9000ddjvb
Phone - i9000ddjv7
Csc - i9000ddjvb
Firmware version - 2.3.6
Baseband version - i9000ddjv7
Kernal version - [email protected]#2
Built num - gingerbread.ddjvb
Pls help me n pls provide me step by step instructions as am an begginer n wanna root my handset .. pls help me out guys
Thanks.
afaik there's no rooted kernel for this rom.
you can try that, anyway.
1 - google for "odin" and download it on your pc. or take this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1464775
2 - similarly, install samsung kies (so you have samsung drivers)
3 - download semaphore_2.7.4_sc.tar kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
4 - download original kernel from ramad's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
4 - turn off your phone, that press power+volume_down+home until you enter download mode (yellow pic on screen)
5 - run odin.exe (as administrator in win7). make sure kies is not running on your pc before running odin.
6 - connect your phone to pc via usb
7 - in odin select as "pda" the semaphore kernel. leave all options as defaults. execute it. this is done in a few seconds. this way you are rooting you phone (aka adding busybox) and installing superuser.apk
8 - unplug usb.
9 - let the phone reboot. then turn it off back again, and get once again in download mode (power+volume_down+home).
10 - run odin.exe (as administrator in win7)
11- connect phone to pc via usb
12 - in odin select ramad's jvb kernel as "pda". execute.
13 - start phone, to be sure reinstall superuser from google play
14 - you're done, now you are rooted with original jvb kernel.
I do not know if this is a robust procedure, but it worked for my italian jw7 rom, hope it is ok for you too.
after gaining root privileges, you can remove semaphore.apk from /system/app with root explorer (download from google play)
Do u think it ll work

since your phone is not rooted you have to use odin anyway.
"superoneclick" methods do not work with sgs1.
hence, you have to flash a pre-rooted kernel to gain root permissions.
after that you can flash the original kernel thus restoring the original state of the phone, apart from rooting it. you don't lose any data or setting, by the way.
since it looks like you're a cautious guy, I suggest you to study a little bit more thru the forum to understand how flashing kernels with odin works.
you can start by downloading odin, kies, and both kernels, and the whole original rom (you can find that in ramad's thread as well). Ramad's thread explains exactly how to flash with odin, btw.
I'm glad to help, but I'm not taking any responsibility on your behalf. do it at your own risk.
thanks broo ..

hey i followed d way u said n it worked smoothly .. thanks a loy bro .. and now u can u tell me how to go for a custom rom and upgrade my handset to ICS is it possible or do i need to make any more chnges to my handset .. lemme no asap .. thans in advance ..
I thought you wanted to root the phone for basic mods and removing samsung bloatware, not for flashing a custom rom. That's another matter.
if you want to flash a custom rom you need cwm recovery. this is a tool you get in "recovery mode", turn phone off and then power+volume_up+home to get there. some gingerbread custom roms can be flashed with odin, but as far as I know, you can't for ics or jb.
stock recovery won't let you flash any rom.
you do not have cwm recovery on your stock kernel.
to root any custom rom, you have to flash semaphore back again, and stick with that. with semaphore you have cwm recovery, so choose the rom you want to install and follow its thread instructions.
BUT: I've tried LOADS of custom roms, and never been fully satisfied with anyone of them. reboots, phone turns off by itself, limited functionalities, small bugs...
always reverted back to (rooted) stock. I'm never ever going to flash any rom but a stock one anymore. Of course you'll find different opinions on that on xda, this is just my 2 cents.
Lastest stock roms (2.3.6) are fast, smooth and completely bugfree.
Thanks in advance
hey thnks in advance but one of my frns has rooted to ics n he is telling tat phone works smoothly only for video recording and another one app .. rest works fine for him
anything for ram space .. i just have 364 mb ram wich gets almost full quite aftr using d net or running any apps .. pls suggest me any app or anythin wich i can do to increase my ram storage and other things ..

search threads for himem kernels. you'll find many of them. you'll probably get another 20 or 30mb. but I'm not going to suggest something I've never tried. current ram to me is more than enough.
regarding ics being faster and smoother, that's a matter of debate. my opinion is that the fastest rom around is cm7.2 (gingerbread), much faster than any ics rom. much more. At least among those I've tried.
the whole point about custom aosp roms is that samsung never released source code on some drivers, hence the little bugs here and there in cm7/9, ics, jb, and so on. that's why stock roms are superior, imho.
if you really want ics, move to sgsII or sgsIII

just to add to the earlier post, just in case you have never entered download mode before
For i9000 :- you hold the Volume Down + Home + Power
Note:
When using Odin to Flash, Open task manager and close these : Kies.exe , KiesTrayAgent.exe, and KiesPDLR.exe
