Hi all,
I recently bought an unlocked international version of samsung galaxy S GT-i9000. I was able to use it with at&t sim card quite happily till now. Even the 3g worked on it. But from yesterday the at&t service keeps disconnecting after using for few hours. The network bars at the top right disappear and a blue disconnected sign appears. I cannot make a call or receive a call till I reboot my phone. In settings->about phone I see that the "Service" shows "Not in Service". When I reboot it gets back to "In Service".
Did anyone face this problem before? Is there any solution for it? My unlocked phone boots with T-mobile preset settings - is this problem because of that?\
Someone please help.
I've been using one on AT&T for quite a while without issue.
Ok. Thats encouraging. Did you change the software on it - like rooting or flashing other ROMS or still using the original touchwiz?
I donno why I am getting this error now..it worked fine last week.

I've flash several roms without issue.
Did you install anything recently before the problems occurred?
I just installed a Yahoo mail application and some online radios yesterday. Nothing on the software side like rooting or flashing. I am still using the samsung touchwiz that came with the device.
Looks like that yahoo mail app is the cause of the problem. Deleted that app 1 day back, and it seems to work smoothly for now without any disconnections. Thanks for pointing out to look at newly installed apps.
did you buy I9000 or I9000M ?
I9000 runs on 900/1900/2100
AT&T runs on 850/1900
I9000M runs on 850/1900/2100

Doesn't really matter I had stock/euro i9000and had no disconnects.. although sometimes I only got edge when there was no 850 3g. I now have i9000m and still get no disconnects.. and yes I am on at&t.

I bought I9000 (not the M version). I am able to get the 3g HSDPA with 1900 frequency. I verified it online before buying the piece that 3g would run on one of the frequencies. The problem I had earlier was not with the 3g network, but with the actual cell phone signal which enables to make calls.

I had this problem for a while after I flashed one of the firmwares.. the fix i think i used was to change the settings on the phone from KOR to BMC.. I forget how to do this..
it was one of the *#1234#* type codes.. Anyone remember?
I guess I was early in thinking everything is alright. The problem started again- it gets disconnected once in a while and I have to restart the mobile. Hey dapoktan, can you please remember what you did earlier to get rid of it? If we change the firmware does it help? I am waiting for samsung's android 2.2 update, hope they at least release it by Nov 11th (as mentioned in one website)

Thanks every one for your suggestions.
Before applying nailer's suggestions, I just saw I could update the firmware to froyo by doing a registry hack in kies http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series#Installing_firmware_for_different_country. So just gave it a try and currently got froyo.
Have been using froyo since yesterday and no recurrence of the problem till now. I also successfully rooted the device following http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/2384-Rooting-FroYo-2.2 and applied Ryanza's lagfix 2.0 available in market. Looks fine for now and the phone runs excellently smooth.
I think my N7000 is broken. Since a couple of days I cannot make or receive phone calls with my SIM card from the carrier 3 (Three Sweden). I've tried two different SIM cards from 3 but it's the same problem. Data traffic still works though since I can surf the Internet without problem. When trying to make a phone call it immediately hangs up, and if I try to make a call to the phone it's unreachable. My phone is unbranded/unlocked BTW.
I've tested with SIM cards from two other carriers and they both work.
The only think I can think of is that 3G voice calls are somehow broken on my N7000. My carrier only supports 3G and maybe that's what's broken... what do you think? (the other cards I tested also supports 2G and maybe that's the reason they worked, but I'm not sure).

I think your issue is the same as mine, though to clarify my issue somewhat:
When the phone does this and I try to make a call it doesn't hang up, it kinds of gets stuck and keeps waiting for the back-end to respond. Similarly, trying to send or receive SMS messages doesn't work either. Rebooting fixes this, though it may happen again quite soon or it may take several days to happen again.
I think it is some background-process related to radio operation getting stuck, though I cannot say what causes it. Factory reset and even full reformat and reset had no effect.
I hope ICS fixes the issue.
What I've tried so far is:
Full wipe - No change
Next step will be to visit my carrier store downtown and test yet another SIM card from them. If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to get it repaired.
Oh yes... I tried another card from another carrier (Telenor) and changed Network Mode from "GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode)" to "WCDMA only" and it still worked. So now I'm not sure why it doesn't work on Tre ?!?
/Tubgirl
Update: Got a new SIM card from Three but unfortunately it didn't help. Tomorrow I'll send my phone to get repaired :-(

i got the same problem but is t mobile uk, "Data traffic still works though since I can surf the Internet without problem. When trying to make a phone call it immediately hangs up" I tried others sim vodafone, o2 both work without problem.
Factory reset, different stock roms no help...
Yep, same here. I just downgraded to KK4 stock ROM using Odin and it still didn't help.
Cannot send/receive SMS either.

I guess I have a Galaxy Tab 5.3 now

I have a similar issue, some times i cant call and receaved calls ends few seconds after hanging up.

i give up, i changed the network providers to 3 network everythings back to normal.
I can't find the link right now but I read somewhere that there's a hidden area on the phone where IMEI and other carries specific information is stored. As I understand that area is not restored when flashing ROMs. Maybe there's a chance that area has been corrupted??

In my case , I cannot receive call - I believe it is software issue.
Is there any workaround how to fix it ?

Have you checked that your IMEI is fine (matches the one in the box or the one below the battery)?
i doubt its software issue, i also thought that i was having a software issue, after so many roms that i tried flashing, same result. stock or customized. I went to samsung service center and they had it tested, replaced the board that has to do with the antenna, and now everything is working properly.
same issue i have checked imei with the box and it ok, i can connect to 3G but can't make call only emergency call.
tried CSC Change
Galaxy Sim Unlocker and all unlocked
Base Band and Firmware on XXLSZ
the phone is british in italy
HELP THZ

Have you guys already tried to use your sims in someone else's phone? Could it be that you have data only plans? Those plans do no allow phone calls even if the device itself can make calls.

Well my case is a bit more complicated.... when i try to dial a number it just black screen and then a popup "Not registered on network" any solution?
Hi Team,
I have heard lot about this forum and hope to get some gud suggestions from you guys.
I bought my Samsung Galaxy ace GT-S5830 with android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS 6 months back but slowly I started facing few problems when my friends noticed and told me that your phone sometimes says switch off.
I also realized that sometimes even if the airtel network is there still i get an error message that mobile network not available I had to switch off the phone to get it normal.
Again people text me but it goes on pending and gets delivered after hours. I showed this problem to the service center they flashed my mobile but the problem persist I also tried changing my sim card but still all in vain. Now i am literally fed up with this phone.
Please assist me I dont know wat to do :crying:
Note: The phone is not rooted.
Thank you
err, are you sure this is because of the phone..? not the network..? because i never face any of the problems you mention..
may be you should try flashing stock rom with newest baseband for your region, find it on sammobile..

He said the service centre guys reflashed the rom. but agree that the sms thing could be network problem.
Faulty battery/pins (Switch offs)
Faulty hardware (Antenna?)
That's all I can identify.
Hi Guys !!!
Thanks for sharing your views
@demiorkan
The mobile automatically does not gets switched off but i need to do it manually as it keeps on prompting the error message "Mobile network not available" though I can see full network on my mobile.
I would really appreciate if I get any suggestions from your side.
Let me know if any more information is required.
If you dont mind you could try flashing another stock rom and see if that works out. If it did not, then it's probably a hardware problem OR the network (as mentioned). Try your SIM card on another phone as well, that should prove if there is problem with the network or not.
Mostly it might be a firmware problem. Service center might not have flashed a new firmware but simply wiped and gave back. (can't be sure on that). So I recommend on using ODIN and flash new firmware. Google is your best friend on this.
Secondly about the network, Turn on flight mode once and turn it off, you'll get the signal. You can even do some debugging by going to the testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and toggle the radio and the preferred connection type and stuff. But if the place where you are is such that you get low signal, then don't try any things on phone as it's ultimately the network problem. Trust Me, the place where I stay, I rarely get proper reception and Even I'm on the same network. Flight Mode trick saves the unnecessary reboot.
I've had my GT-N7000 for about a year. It has been rooted and running various ROMs since I had it and has always worked wonderfully. I had settled on CM 10.1 about a month ago. Since the last 3-4 days I noticed that my 3G signal showed no bars from time to time. Normally, just a quick 'airplane mode' dip and everything would be fine.
2 days ago was still having the same problem and I had to completely turn off and on again to 'maybe' get a signal. If I got a signal, it would only stay there for a few minutes and then disappear.
I changed the SIM card yesterday just to be sure but I still had the same problem. The same SIM card works perfectly well in my GT-I9000 running CM 10.1 as well.
I cleaned the SIM slot contacts, verified the internal antenna wire and even flashed a few modems and still have short lived and intermittent 3G signal. Any idea about what could be happening? Could it be the 3G radio failing on me?
Thanks for any help.
JF.
Anyone?
Does this happen after you move from one area to another? For instance from work to home or Vice Versa?
same problem
Hi there,
I've got the same problem than you. I got my Note 1 year ago, and since few days, I've a problem with the SIM.
On boot or reboot, the SIM is perfectly recognized and works good. I can call without problem, and can connect to the wifi without problem. The problem is when I use 3g, the SIM is not recognize after 1-2 minutes. I mean, I can access internet, do whatever I want, for just a minute or two. After that, the signal drop instantly. I tried:
plane mode: doesn't come back to normal mode cause the phone says there no SIM card
change modem: don't resolve the problem on all XX*** modem for JellyBean
change ROM: I was on German-leaked 4.1.2 Stock ROM, i tried 4.1.2 Switzerland ROM (where I live), 4.1.2 custom ROM and cynogenmod 10.1 (4.2.2). Always the same problem.
Tonight I'll try another SIM in the phone, in the case that the SIM is the problem.
otherwise, I don't know what else to try...

You're ****ed if it's the same problem! I tried a lot of technique and the one I warn you about is changing the RIL. Useless waste of time and ****ed up everything. At the end I tried an app available on the play store for thé modem, can't remember which one. But hey, you're on the track!
Good luck

Are you sure it is the radio causing the problem and not the antenna? I know on mine, the USB charge port can be a real PITA when it
goes bad, and I had to buy about 3 before I found one that worked properly. With the wrong one, the radio signal would fluctuate all
over the place, so that's why I wonder if it could be a bad antenna/connection/board problem, since it is contained on the same
board as the USB port?

I had an update..
I figured out that when i change the network mode to GSM ONLY it runs very well and never drops network signal or get the NO SIMCARD message..
but when i change the mode to AUTO or 3G/CDMA it drops network and gets NO SIM CARD after a few minutes !!
still don't know the reason & still searching
Let's talk about this problem. Mine is similar. Not getting errors with aim card but when i place or receive calls while in wcdma mode, conversation is normal at first place, then after few seconds i can not hear other side, and other side cannot hear me, sometimes that call ends and that is it. On gsm only, calls work normally, but internet is not working, while in wcdma internet works... pretty nasty issue. I tried flashing different roms, tried several modems to flash, problem is not disappearing, but from modem to modem i can see improvements. Sometimes it does not drop at all... can you help me with this?
Sorry if this has already been posted, I try to search as much as possible before making a new thread.
New N910T owner here, upgraded from N900T but got it second-hand from someone who I assume used JTAG to repair the IMEI. Haven't been able to get LTE at all, no matter what ROM I'm using. (CM based ROMs display H/H+, TW based ROMs display 4G) I odin'd by using the latest NK4 full firmware (found here) and still no avail.
I don't have an old sim card so I ruled that out. I used it with my old N900T and it gets LTE here no problem. For some reason this phone just will NOT connect to LTE. Trying to find a network will lead to a 5-15 minute search eventually leading to "No service."
Attached is a picture of the ServiceMode menu. Not sure what other screenshots or information I need but I'd be willing to provide anything if it can help diagnose my problem. (If it IS a JTAG issue I'm screwed, the person who I got the phone from was shady to begin with, couldn't say no to such a low priced Note 4 though.)
Currently running NK4 on Hyperdrive ROM RLS3 with stock kernel.
Fixed by going into *#0808#, selecting DM + MODEM + ADB and then used QPST/QXDM to fix the target port.
same issue
I was wondering if any fixed the issue, I'm getting the same issue..
Can you be more detailed?
I'm having the same issues a ls the first post diacribes. I bought a phone finding out the one I number was changed, well the phone register but I have issues connecting to the network, and I can't connect to the 4G lte. The second post states that something need to updated but no instructions.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
That doesn't work for my phone, had tried it and no go.
I was wondering how you fix your phone port just like in post 2
I know this is an old post, but did you ever get it resolve?
Hi member Ohmygaa. Accidentally I found your post here and I found it very interesting since I have exactly the same problems with my note 4 tmobile sm-n910t as you described. My phone which I bought on ebay shows no lte only 4g doesn't matter what rom I'm using. Even though Internet shows 4g but it works very slow, can't practically download anything, even websites don't work. Searching for signal every 20 minutes so I'm practically unable to use it. The imei *#06# is different than that on the sticker under battery. So my question is could you be more specific with this fixing of target port ,please? I could try your method maybe it would help to fix my phone? Best regards from NY
