If you want to use 2nd partition of your sdcard(ext-sd) for apps and games or move data2ext-sd use latest Rafael Baugis kernel with CWM5 because when you make backup you can restore it when do you want, and his kernel with stock recovery(3e) can't backup/restore ext-sd even you use temp CWM5 :| . . . I hope you understand what i told you . . .

Try recreating mount scripts..and Relink everything
GT S5830i-Rocking on Broadcoms gpu...

Open up link2sd and hit your menu button then go to more
-Recreate mount scripts
-Restart phone
-Relink all application files

[Q] DT a2sd on cm7.1

Need help guys!
Today i flashed cm7.1 on my N1
(B4 i was using cm6 rc1 with DT a2sd)
Cm7.1 works great but i need a2sd for more space
After i flash DT a2sd beta 4 , i entered into boot loop
My phone wont boot
Whats the problem?? do i need to wipe sd-ext also
(As it may contain previous rom's app data?)
Thanks in advance
Please help!
wipe everything including sd ext or use nandroid backup if any( i usually make backup before flashing dta2sd ).if ur using cm 7.1 u can try S2E app available in market which does the pretty same job but its with gui so its easy to operate

Thanks for the reply!! m i right tht wiping sd ext wont format files on sd card?(fat i mean)
I still get into boot loop after wiping sd-ext b4 installing DT a2sd
is there anything to do with the kernal
I would try doing a full wipe (including system) then flash everything a new. ROM, gapps then DT. If you don't want to lose your app data just backup with titanium backup.

HELP!!! Link2Sd not working after recovery

I had a lot of CWM backups on my phone.
so I thought Ill do one nandroid backup of my current phone and then recover each of the previous nandroid backups to see what they actually are.
Then when I recovered my latest backub (done two hours ago) Link to SD doesnt seem to work. Before I was doing this whole CWM backup check everything was fine.
All the settings are as they should be too. only the apps linked are not theyre anymore. The apps only moved to SD are still available.
When I open Link2Sd and choose FAT partition (cause thats what my 2nd partition is) it says:
"Mount script error. Mount scipt cannot be created.
mount: mounting /dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed: Device or resource busy."
Can someone pls help me. I really need my phone to be properly working again when I go to work tomorrow.
You can see more details about my phone in the signature, if thats of any help.

Your second partition has to be EXT. Try using a terminal with the following command:
Code:
tune2fs -l /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
It should tell you bad magic number as it doesn't understand FAT32
Code:
tune2fs -l /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Should work as mmcblk0p2 is the second mountpoint for the EXT partition used by A2SD, S2E and Link2SD.
Your nandroid backups are on your FAT32 partition -- back that up to your computer (copy all files or make a disk image). Then repartition the SD card using CWM, turn off phone, now copy your files back to the new FAT32 (which will now be partition 1). Now reinstall SD card, boot in CWM and restore

I've had the same problem. I noticed that CMW restore has formatted the sd-ext in ext4, and stock kernel does not support EXT4.
Solutions:
_ flash CF-root
or
_ take your sd, put it in a pc with an adapter, backup sd-ext, format it in ext2, restore the content
link2sd not installed
why link2sd cant installed in my phone after reboot?:crying:

Is this real ?
1) Why CWM restore formats sd-ext? Why is it not limited to work on internal memory? -> If this is true should be a good thing to remove always SD when using CWm... oh... no... this is not possible... If I remove it how can a restore be done from an sd ?
2) Reformatting sd-ext to original ext2 (compatible with stock ROMs) and restoring content (copu\paste) is s working solution to fix this problemi? Anybody can confirm this ?
thank...
I had the same problem, link2sd could not recognize the partition after a nandroid backup.
I'm using a HTC Explorer and made a backup on the stock rom, I'm new to this whole rooting business and I was hoping someone could help me get things back to the way it was before the backup.
Thanks in advance

On CM7 the 05mountsd script in the init.d folder caused this problem for me. Simply delete it and reboot.

I had that problem. I deleted the file /dev/block/vold/179:2 , rebooted & recreated mount script ....it's fixed. Plz take a backup before trying this.

the error is stating that while backing up recovery is not able to mount /system
try to mount /system before backing up rom. it can be mounted from mount and storage option
try to reflash latest cwm which is 5.0.2.8
try to wipe cache and dalvik cache before backing up
I think this problem is with stock ROM Or GB.
I was Flashing Emanom v5
I want to backup GB to restore when in need but, CWM v4 throws this errorBackup error
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
I Prepared:
1, Flashed GB through odin without SD mounted and android booted.(with sound in Samsung Logo)
2, Changed some Settings in Android
2a, Rebooted again with Mounted SD(to check if booting ssuccesfully with partitioned SD)
3, Now Rebooted to downloading mode
4, Flashed CMW Recovery v4
4a, Here Android succesfully booted, then I Rebooted in CWM.
5, In CWM, it show the error- E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
6, when I tried to backup it doesn't
7, Wiped data + Cache
8, Re-tried to backup but it throws that err again.
9, Now I booted Android it does'nt boots(show Samsung Logo but no Sound and boot loops)
So I left off and Flashed Emanom
with whole process skipping steps 5-9
Here With Emanom v5, in CWM Recovery
That Error Again but when I backed up successufully towing error again.
Now what Step I left or any wrong do I did.
If backup-ing GB is possible then we could just restore it to flash any custom ROM without flashing through Odin and requirement of computer.

if it is backed up i think it can be restored easily.
but to make it compatible with stock rom the person(squad) who ported the recovery needed to make the recovery compatible with rfs partition but its compatible with ext partition

[Q] CoCore-E 6.2 cwm external SDcard not mounting

Hey, I'm new to this forum and to android. I have the Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070, it has JB 4.1.2 rooted, and I've installed the CoCore-E 6.2 cwm kernel. I want to install the Pure Vanilla mod, but my problem is that when I'm on recovery mode I can't backup my current rom because the external SDcard is not mounted. On the recovery mode there is an option to mount the SDcard but whenever I trie to mount it, it says "error mounting /sdcard". Sorry if this question has been asked before, I just couldn't find the answer I'm looking for. It would be really nice if you could help a noob out. Thanks in advance .

u don't need to mount sd to take a backup. just go to backup and restore and take a backup!
and pure vanilla is not a mod, its a rom!

Do you see anything from external sd? If not, you need to repartition it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning

Yes, the external sdcard is mounted when on Android, and I'm able to transfer stuff on it. I've formatted it to fat32 but no change, should I repartition it anyway ?
Repartitioning it to FAT fixed the problem, now my sd is mounted when on cwm recovery. But when I started a backup it was going pretty well until it stopped and said "Error while making a backup image of /data!". I guess the univers is against me installing this rom .
