Hey guys
I wish to flash "I9070ILOLF2" modem to my device, so I downloaded the rom & extracted the files from the tar.md5 file.
now I have the modem file that I wish to flash (which doesn't have an md5 verification) but not the amss.mbn file.
I tried using any kind of md5 summer \ cygwin (in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658809 ) - in both cases, It seemed to be valid, but when I flashed it - it failed.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!

ok,
so I used odin 1.85 and odin 3.07.
I've selected the .PIT file and the modem (that I extracted & calculated the MD5), and it just don't work.
odin 1.85 fails,
odin 3.07 succeeded,
(I can't install heimdall's driver - my os don't allow me, so it's out of the question :\ ).
the modem version stays the same - my phone gets bricked for a couple of minutes and then comes back :silly:
edited: also, the binary counter doesn't change, so it safe to assume the modem file is problematic.

Not really. Binary increases only when you flash a kernel through Odin. Doesn't matter if it's stock or custom kernel!

Ok, so I reached to a solution:
Backed up my whole rom with twrp, flashed the stock and the twrp kernel, and restored.
Luckily, jetmod doesn't install a modem

I flashed my stock, when rooting with Qzem method. It increase only with his, and stock didn't increase it. As I remember you have to flash 2 times in his method, and my binary counter was 1 after that.

So I was checking Sammobile for a firmware update for GT-S5830i (Galaxy Ace) for India & I found that they have released this. (Check Screenshot Below).
I have searched the forum for XXMB1 but haven't found anything. Could this be a new firmware? If So, I have extracted the CSC, PDA & MODEM files from the .tar.md5 for everyone's convenience.

Using XXMB2 now. Only stuck once for 1 sec in 2 min video. Which is better than my original stock. And they put data/3g on off button in shutdown menu. Google books vs integrated. Too much system ram wasted so removed a lot of progs from system memory.
Do you want an empty life, or a meaningful death?

What tutorial have you followed...
Odin needs only 7-10 mins to flash the whole rom..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Your pc may have been installing drivers if this is the first time you have done this any more progress yet
Try it
You can install latest Kies version, then connect your device in download(odin) mode.
Select the tab left of "help" tab (I can't describe it in english, have russian Kies) and "Firmware update and initialization" Odin must be closed and you must to stop connecting device manually by clicking close button in left Kies's corner
I cant post outside links with imgs(((
Then type your device name (GT-N7000) and in the next window your S/N (you can find it under battery)
After downloading update your device must be alive with the last firmware.
Then you can flash it with odin to the another ROM.
Hope it will help you.
P.S.: Sorry for my bad english

That is a VERY good question. I'll be pulling the OTA zip once it starts pushing. Then I'll see about extracting the partitions and making us an ODIN tar md5 for it. I like being in the game on an open device! In any case, yea, I don't suspect it's a big update...I think it's the same security update everyone else got with no user facing changes.

So is this a baseband update? or actual OS update. I ask since I am running a custom rom on the phone anyways. If it is a baseband update then I will go through the hassle of restoring the stock and getting it.

Thanks for that since I hadn't gotten it pushed yet. Much appreciated.
And yes, this has kernel updates, baseband, and who knows what else. I heard this is just a small security update.
So I can just ODIN this as OTA update PDA with reboot checked?
Never mind. Just noticed that it is a zip file.

WOA WOA, what? NOOOO. You can't odin OTA update zips.
Yeah, saw that it was a zip file.
I'll be making a full ODIN tar flash for MH5 later but it's not ready now. I also just updated my root script and posted it in the how to root your i9505g thread.

Hey SamuraiHL so we keep everything consolidated post your Odin package in the OP with link and post root instructions. Also change the thread title from incoming to MH5 [ODIN] Security Update or something like that. Thanks again. I created and posted the stock recovery already last night looks like we overlapped.

Will do. It may be tomorrow before I get to it. I've been stuck in kitchen sink repair hell. But I will definitely create the ODIN package. Did you see my question in your ODIN thread?
SamuriHL, would you mind using your amazing skills to make flashable zips of our now 3 modems ?
Please and thank you!

No. You wont lose your warranty since this is a official firmware. I Think this does have multilanguage for arabic. Etc.

You won't lose your warranty as this is an official firmware. It has support for arabic language.

Successfully flashed the rom over CM12. Everything's working including WiFi, Mobile data, etc. I didn't lose any files; all my photos and videos are still there. However, you will lose your app data so better make a backup. If anyone's curious, here are the steps that I followed.
1. Download the firmware from sammobile. (Click)
2. Extract the downloaded file.
3. Run Odin (I used v3.09) as an Administrator.
4. If you're on a custom rom, reboot into recovery. Wipe user data and cache.
5. Reboot into Download mode.
6. Connect your phone via USB. Wait for the necessary drivers to install until Odin detects your phone.
7. Click on AP then browse to the extracted .tar.md5 file. Only Auto-Reboot and F.Reset Time should be checked.
8. Click Start and wait for everything to finish.
9. Once you see a PASS, you can now unplug your phone.
